June 7, 200818 yr Yeah but it got left off. Hopefully we'll hear it on LP5 or as a b-side or something.
June 7, 200818 yr poor reign of love  Favorite: Strawberry Swing /sigh .. this song puts me in a good one. Not so much: Reign of love (i dont hate it its just that I like the others more)
June 7, 200818 yr I think the only track I dislike is Yes. I just can't listen to it all the way through, it bores me. I don't understand. I'm going to translate this as follows: "I think the only track I don't love YET is Yes." ;)
June 7, 200818 yr Author I think most people will agree with this: Most people here hate ROL based off the simplicity of it. You have all kinds of songs in there with different sounds in it especially 42 which has 3 different kinds of sounds to it.
June 7, 200818 yr Best: 42, Yes, Viva La Vida, Violet Hill, Strawberry Swing, Cemeteries Of London, Lovers In Japan Worst: Lost! (prefer the acoustic version), Reign Of Love, Life In Technicolor
June 7, 200818 yr Best: Oooh toughie...it's kind of a tie between Yes, VLV, and LIJ. Worst: Reign of Love.
June 7, 200818 yr the opening three (COL, Lost! and 42) are brilliant i'm gonna go with everyone else and say ROL's the worst - it's hard to refute that - but i'm not too crazy about Escapist either
June 7, 200818 yr Best=42/Lovers In Japan Worst=Yes(i like it but its the one song i dont listen to the much)
June 7, 200818 yr After listening to the full album a few times through... 3 Worst: 42...the lyrics were way too repetitive for me to even appreciate this song. Chinese Sleep Chant...I didn't quite understand the purpose of this track. Not only can you not hear Chris sing, it's got a weird vibe to it. The only decent part was Jonny making the guitar whine. Death & All His Friends/Escapist...very weak effort to wrap up the album. All in all, not what I expected with the hopes that an album should go out with a bang. They ripped off Death Cab trying to loop the final track and starting track together to make it sound like one continuous repeating album (Transatlanticism anyone?) 3 Best: Strawberry Swing...loved the folk blues sound to this track. Sounds very different but in a good way. Lovers In Japan...Hard piano and drum support here, great tempo throughout the song. Crisp sound, very uplifting intro and finish Viva La Vida...No matter how many times I hear it, it is simply a great piece of music. Awesome orchestral support (some may call it commercial but it's well done). This song's lyrics actually paint a picture in my mind, they're pretty effective. Tempo and chorus are spot on. I feel like this album actually has more weak spots than X&Y. The 2nd portion of the split tracks actually weakened the listening experience for me. Nice effort in taking on new sounds and styles, but I felt like they should have recorded 3 quality full-length tracks rather than Reign Of Love, Chinese Sleep Chant, and The Escapist. I'll give it a 7/10 overall. 1. Rush Of Blood 2. Parachutes 3. X&Y 4. Viva La Vida

IMO Escapist is the prefect ending for the album and I hope they use it to close out their concerts. Not as good as Amsterdam, but better then twisted logic, but its nice to hear other people's opinions.
June 7, 200818 yr the only thing i don't get is people saying they don't like reign of love because it is too repetitive. what about viva la vida? its the same thing over and over, even though i love vlv, it follows the same structure. reign of love reminds me of a lullaby and its so beautiful because of its simplicity. just my opinion i guess, by the way these boards rock!
June 7, 200818 yr Ah, I counted them both as one song because I felt the Escapists can be viewed as an outro rather than a 2nd song. Either way, both portions of the song were a bit light on "oomph" as the album comes to a close. They don't really go well together either IMO. I think Lovers In Japan is the best song on the album. Can't wait to see that played live.

I think reign of love will grow on a lot of ppl...certainly beginning to grow on me. I'm almost at the point where I can honestly say that I love every single track off this album.

June 7, 200818 yr Best: Viva La Vida & Lovers in Japapn Worst:...? Are you crazy? Reign of Love is Lovely!
