Coldplay accused of copying 'Viva La Vida' melody

Featured Replies

He's just making himself out to look like even more of an idiot by deciding he's not sure if Chris was in the crowd at his gig despite claiming it was the main reason he suspected Coldplay of stealing...he's been caught out by Coldplay having written the song before him and he's trying to save face.

This is stupid, that song barely resembles Viva la Vida, and if it would be true and if I were this guy I would be proud that Coldplay stole my crappy song and turned it into this awesome and beautiful one.

Anyway, if we are going to talk about stealing songs, Coldplay should accuse a lot of people... I think Clocks is the most plagarized song of the last few years, I can think of 3 songs that sounds a lot like it, and I have heard a lot of commercial songs that sounds like a clone of it.

agree, but take it easy athe accusation its false cause coldplay have a record of the song earlier than they thought.

Coldplay are said to have stolen the melody of VLV???????!!!!!

I heard that a band from USA accused Coldplay of having stolen their song.

This song is VLV....

Is this true? Does anyone know anything about this strange story?:confused::confused:

Coldplay song raises eyebrows

Coldplay's new number one album is making them the toast of the UK music scene again but questions are being asked about the title track.

Did the band copy the melody for Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, from a track someone else had written?

One little known American band thinks so, but Coldplay say it's all their own work.

Watch the Channel 4 video article at http://www.channel4.com/news/articles/arts_entertainment/music/coldplay+song+raises+eyebrows/2292787

[Anyone care to rip?]

Well, they got what they wanted. The media likes scandals, so to the wider public Coldplay will be remembered by this, not many will care that VLV was actually written before... very sad, but true.

So you're all saying VLV was written in 2006? Are you nuts?

ATTENTION ALL PEOPLE WHO THINK THIS IS PLAGIARISM:

Go to youtube and listen to "Don't Go Away" by Oasis and "Whatever It Takes" by Lifehouse. The chorus sounds exactly the same but no one has ever complained. This dude needs to get over it, sometimes some songs sound a little similar. Theres on a certain amount of notes that can possibly be sung, eventually theres bound to be some similarities.

Peace:cool:

so Alizee will also accuse coldplay because of the melody "Viva La Vida"

As far as I can tell, Coldplay wrote a song that happened to kind of sound like a song someone else had made before, which isn't illegal. These guys used clips owned exclusively by itunes and Coldplay, which is illegal. I love irony.

In one of this band's songs, they say "don't panic" which is obviously a direct rip-off of "Don't Panic."

SUE.

this is bullshit the american shit group wrote their song after viva la vida and the alizee lol think people were talking about similarities with a lot of bands even joe satriani so its not a ripp off just influences or coincidence.

This even got a mention on the political discussion show This Week last night!!:stunned:
