Stephenie Meyer - Twilight Series (may contain spoilers)

Well I don't really want to discuss the book too much yet since it seems like people are still reading or not able to get the book yet. Been staying away from this thread because I didn't want to be spoiled, but apparently there hasn't been much discussion on here yet lol I'll just say that overall I liked it, but I think I would've changed the ending around a little bit. And that, I liked Bella a little more in this one than I have in the previous books.

I'm not a huge Bella fan either but I did like her more in this book for some reason. I'm glad I didn't run across any spoilers before the book came out because I really enjoyed being shocked over some of the events! :D I just didn't see alot of it coming but I'm really happy with the way everything turned out! Oh, and I loved the ending between Bella and Edward!! It was just so sweet! I'm dying to discuss everything but I'm afraid I'll ruin it for someone who hasn't finished! :anxious:

Have you turned into a werewolf or vampire? lol

LoL I'm done with the book, just finished like 5 minutes ago, but I also had to stop at Ch. 32. Eyes hurt too much from lack of sleep past couple of days lol And I definitely agree about the "twists", if you can even call them twists :)

Yes a vampire! :sneaky:

Yeah, I finished it a few hours after I took my break for my eyes, cause they were aching a bit. :P Yeah, they can't really be called twists, but whatever you want to call them, to me it felt like I was reading fanfiction and I don't mean that in a good way. :blank:

EEEEK!

I'm done. :stunned: :stunned: :stunned:

This is so... depressing. It's like, the end of an era! :bigcry:

But it was absolutely and completely incredible. Not as good as the others, and very surprising, but I still thought it was fabulous. :smug2:

I know!:bigcry: I actually almost cried when I read the end! But I'm sure that when Stephenie writes more from someone else's point of view like she has said that it will more than likely be about Renesmee and Jacob, so hopefully Edward and Bella will still be involved in someway. I think they'll be back. :smug: I absolutely loved the way everything worked out for everyone but I was really surprised at most of it. (Renesmee!!!) :stunned: I didn't see that coming at ALL!

You didn't like it?

Why??

^I've heard a lot of other people say they were disappointed in it, and I can't see why either.

I know! I absolutely can't wait for more of the story, from anyone's point of view... I just love the characters far too much and it's impossible to let them go. Oh, and sadly, I knew the Renesmee thing was going to happen (not the details, of course, but the actual... concept of a child), because of a tiny bit of a review I accidentally read right before the book. Ugh. :\ Everything else was awesomely surprising, though!

I don't see how anyone could not love this book. It was awesome! I really want to read it again so that I can take my time with it since I kinda rushed though it the first time. I think I'm going to start with Twilight and read through all of them at once.

Oh, I am so gald I didn't know about it because it would have ruined the whole book for me. I was like no way! :D I was really happy though and then I didn't figure out Jacob imprinting either until the last second and I just was laughing like crazy! I couldn't believe it! I mean if they have kids is it going to be human/vampire/werewolf? Thats going to be interesting. I loved Bellas reaction though when she found out about it! Priceless! I think Edward being a dad just makes me love him more! :D

Errm, I guess the book was alright, but what turns me off the most is how the story was resolved. To me, there were more ends frayed than finished than it should have been.

Ugh, I'm still upset about the imprinting. Along with the baby (sorry for offending...I know she's cute, but still...that was a big plot to have add in and attempt closure in a small time :().

And I won't go into the subject of moralities anymore (like most readers have chastised about). This book was simply meant for pleasurable kicks, after all that's happened. Meh.

Ok, I guess discussion is starting now but I'll use the spoiler tag for others' consideration.

Like I said before, overall I liked it. I liked it enough not to hate it, but I think it could've been better. Like talkingonsquareone89, I wasn't too thrilled at how the story was 'resolved'. It's sweet that Edward and Bella get to live forever together with their cute Renesmee; like the chapter's title, it's the 'Happily Ever After' that a lot of people wanted. But I don't think it worked well with this story. What I would've wanted to have read, from the way the story was going, was for Edward and Bella to have died together, and for Renesmee to be taken care of by Jacob like Bella wanted should she have died during the "battle". Edward and Bella would've been physically dead, but through Renesmee they would always be alive. Jacob would've lost Bella, but he would always have her physical memory because of Renesmee. The book needed a tragic happy ending. It seemed like that's where it was going, and I think the reader was prepared for it; I myself was ready for some fight to happen, but then it was just like 'Oh. Okay.' The tragic happy ending would've made for a better segue for a Jacob & Renesmee spin-off.

Speaking of Renesmee, she's cute as a button in my imagination, but what a horrible name. Sorry! I preferred her nickname Nessie, much like everyone else in the book it seems lol I think the name choice of Renesmee was pretty lame, considering that Meyer doesn't even have Renee in the book except for bit parts during the wedding. I was a bit annoyed at Bella for that; names her kid after her mothers but doesn't even really give Renee some consideration especially when she believes that they'll die soon. How can you not let your own mother know she's a grandmother especially when there's a great chance she might not meet her own granddaughter later? I thought it was lame that Bella sort of justifies the situation by saying that she and Renee had started to drift away two years beforehand.

I liked Bella a little bit more in this book than the others, but I think it's because she becomes a mom. I honestly wasn't thinking of her and Edward as being parents.

I saw the Jacob imprinting on Renesmee, and my first reaction was "Noo! Please I hope it's not what I think it is!" It wasn't because she was a baby, I mean Quil imprinted on a toddler and I knew it wasn't gonna be an awkward thing, but for Jacob I wanted someone different. But I guess it works out in that Jake and Edward end up getting along and Jake never really loses Bella, but a part of me was kind of hoping he'd imprint on Leah. She kind of grew on me; I really would've loved reading more about Leah giving it to Bella, but too bad that part happened when it was in Jake's POV and he wasn't there when it happened. Speaking of POV, I really liked reading from Jake's POV. I think a lot of people found it boring, but I found it to be the total opposite. The whole series has been from Bella's POV, so it was refreshing to have a different POV. I think Meyer was correct in doing this; besides I don't think there would've been much to read anyway if it stayed in Bella's POV; she was pregnant and just stayed on the couch, drinking blood, no action there.

I don't really visit any Twilight message boards, but a friend told me today that people are actually returning their books because they weren't satisfied. I'm just "WTF?!" I didn't know you could do that; it's not like it's a broken appliance. Who are these people that are returning the books? Ed fans? Jake fans? Anyone know the specific reasons?

Oh, anyone else loved Garrett like I did? lol When Aro said something like 'Garrett, still the revolutionary' I so totally started singing in my head "revolutionaries wait, for my head on a silver plate" :laugh3:

I'm too tired to write out a whole review right now, and respond to your comment, but I'll do all that later, I promise! As for the revolutionary thing, though... AHHH! I totally thought the same thing! :laugh3: :laugh3:

Okay, well, while I'm totally against the tragic happy ending, I see your point even if I would still be crying right now. BUT, if Jacob were to have to take care of Renesmee if Bella and Edward had died I think it would have made him more like a father figure to her and that would have made things just too strange later on when she is older. I think that the Jacob and Renesmee spinoff, which I'm sure we are going to get sometime, will be about the Voltorri coming back for her and Jacob having to fight them off maybe with the help of the Cullens, which would be awesome. I was disappointed that there was actually no fighting in the end. I was ready to see Bella kick some Voltorri butt!

I think that Bella was still trying to protect her mother from knowing too much. It wasn't her idea to involve Charlie either to begin with. Maybe she just wanted to test the waters with him after Jacob told him just to make sure it was possible to still involve her parents. I'm sure Renee found out eventually. As far as the name, I was a little iffy at first but I've grown used to it. I loved it when Bella attacked Jacob after finding out he was calling her Nessie, it was hilarious!

I liked Bella a little bit more in this book than the others, but I think it's because she becomes a mom. I honestly wasn't thinking of her and Edward as being parents.

I agree here, too. She really matured after becoming a mom. Or maybe it was becoming a vampire too. Either way I'm glad there was no major freaking out on Bella or Edwards side when they found out she was pregnant.

I saw the Jacob imprinting on Renesmee, and my first reaction was "Noo! Please I hope it's not what I think it is!" I too thought that Jacob would imprint with Leah. When I realised what was about to happen I was like I don't belive it! Maybe that was why he was drawn to Bella all along, if the imprinting is as powerful as they say it would kinda make sense. I knew it was about to happen as soon as Jacob was talking about Bella not being there anymore after ahe had Nessie. Oh, and as for Bella drinking the blood, how come she wasn't major grossed out about it? Her big thing has always been her dislike of even the smell of it. I guess she was just desperate to do anything for the baby............

Thats stupid all together. The book wasn't that bad. Both Edward and Jacob got what they wanted I think. Jacob was really happy with how things turned out for him. He'll always have a part of Bella in Renesmee but like I said I think that he was always drawn to Bella because of Renesmee.

Garrett was awesome! I still wished we would have seen some Voltorri butt kicking!

:D

OH MY GOD I'm so excited for the film!!!!! I'm just waiting for my copy of breaking dawn! Love the whole twilight trilogy

AND (not meaning to sound like a fangirl) but rob pattinson is so hot and does edward justice from the look of the trailers and behind the scenes!

I'm waaayyyy excited for the film also! You're going to love Breaking Dawn!

And its kinda hard not to sound like a fangirl when talking about Robert! ;) I saw him a couple of weeks ago at comic con and I'll admit I was screaming along with everyone else when he came out! :embarassed::D He is super hot and going to do great as Edward!!

I finished the book sunday night and I was overall happy with the way it wrapped up. I won't go into detail because the book seemed so long (I think it was the two perspectives thing). The twists were great! I figured Bella would eventually become a vampire, but I never even thought of all that happened in between.

The biggest shocker was of course, the Renesmee thing! I never even considered she would get pregnant...but did anyone really?

Around the time when Bella started to sleep a lot and she threw up after eating that chicken she made, it all just came together! I was SHOCKED! Very cool twist on Stephenie Meyer's part.

The Honeymoon....swoon lol. I loved the romance and just gentleness of it all. I was nervous myself reading up to it! I felt like Bella, I suppose lol. The morning after scene was perfect.

I enjoyed reading from Jacob's perspective. I think it was a nice little break to get out of Bella's head. She can be annoying. Plus, I love Jacob. He's so funny and entertaining to read about. Bella as a vampire was strange to read, but I like that she ended up having powers of some kind.

And Renesmee...how CUTE is she? I love that she looks a lot like Edward. Her gift is also awesome. I love the scene when Edward hears her thought in the womb. Awww, it was a sweet moment. I would "aww" everytime she called Edward "daddy" or Bella "momma". I am such a sucker lol.

Jacob imprinting on Nessie was weird at first...another big twist! It made sense though, once you get over the shock. It explained why Jacob was always so drawn to Bella...

Stephenie has "No More Keeping My feet on the Ground" on her playlist for Breaking Dawn. :D And "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab For Cutie, this song always makes me think of Edward and Bella. She also has several good Muse songs. I think its awesome that they are doing a song for the movie! I can't wait to hear what it is. :D

  • 2 weeks later...

The release date for the Twilight movie has been CHANGED!! It is now going to be released on Nov 21, a whole 3 weeks earlier than planned! YAY!! But bad news is that Harry Potter got moved to next July............:(

Well that was smart, taking over HBP's release date. They'll probably get a better turnout now that they won't be competing with the HBP film.

Only because Warner Brothers want a 'guaranteed' summer blockbuster for next year.

Must say something about their currently selection of films, must have been a bit too risky, got to keep the shareholders happy after-all

Oh some Twilight Saga fans! :)

I was kinda disappointed with the way the story ends. I guess it was expected some bigger. But after all, it's not that bad. I find it hard to let Edward and Bella go therefore I can't wait for the film!!!

I expected it to be quite different from what it is also but I'm completely happy with it. :smug: I'm sooooo excited that the movie was moved forward, I'm dying to see it!!!!! :D

I was disappointed too, but like Heyyohhh said, I've moved on! :) It was not what I was expecting at all. :blank:

Good news! :nice:

Even though I'm upset about Warner Brothers moving the Harry Potter film until a release next July... Summit entertainment decided to move Twilight to Harry Potter's original release date, November 21st! Yay, so we get the movie 3 weeks early! :D

I know!!! I'm soooo excited!!!!!!

If any of you guys didn't know, the first 12 chapters of Midnight Sun was leaked this past weekend. I read it and loved it and couldn't wait to have the finished product but now Stephenie is so upset over the leak she says that she may not finish it at all!!! :( I know it must really be horrible for her but it's not our fault that it was leaked and I just really really want the rest of Edwards story!!! You can read what she had to say about it on her website and she also went ahead and posted the chapters on the Midnight Sun page.
