Ask the Oracle on Coldplay.com (Now in session!)

Featured Replies

its always important to give answers to all the people. There will be people who are still addicting to this band newly and they want to know about many things. And they may not still get into this forum. They will have to go and directly ask Oracle.

But they are rejecting the questions people are sending to them...

Well i think in doing their job i find Coldplay great because they're so worried about people's views at their concerts and Chris keeps on asking all the people in concerts and keeps in mind all the people seating in the arena.

But in terms of Coldplay.com they treat the fans as best and worst and shows the difference between fans...:dozey:They only picks the questions which are best....and rejects the questions which "they feel" as worst...

  • I can't give you the reasonings on why things changed, but I can give you an update from what I observed. The Oracle was run by Debs Wild. Debs is still with the band and helps out fans, for exam

I just wanted to put my two cents in to the whole Oracle debate. I think we're being a little harsh to be honest.

A few months ago we didn't even have The Oracle, they don't have to do this for us, it's a privilege, not a right.

Debs is taking time out of her day, every day to do this for us, and although some of the questions are silly, it's still a hell of a job she's taken on. As Jenjie said she must get thousands, upon thousands of emails. There's only so many she can look through.

I kinda think we should just be grateful we've got it at all.

if you think that i am harsh i don't mind.

but the oracle never answers the people's questions which they feel worst.

okay and i don't think that any of us are asking worst questions to them.

I wasn't addressing you personally Pallavi, just the general feeling in the thread :)

they answers all the questions but not the concert related questions i ask.

:)Okay

Q. Was it because I am latin that my camera (which is NOT professional!!!!) was taken before the Barcelona concert while the others over 1000 cameras could take a picture of Coldplay during the show??????? Maybe my camera is very special, right? Great show, by the way.

The Oracle replies:

I'm sorry to hear that but the reason will be that it's the policy at all gigs that cameras and recording equipment aren't allowed. It usually says this in the terms and condition either on the ticket or at the time of purchase. Most venues turn a blind eye and are more interested whether you have food or drink concealed. With the advent of mobile phone technology they can't take phones away so most people take photos and videos using their mobiles. Many artists have personal strict rules enforced at live shows which means security are very busy warning people or confiscating cameras. I assume you got it back as they have the facilities to leave your cameras during the show.

Q. In the television advert for 'Ocean Village' on ITV1 in the UK, the music seems to be a complete rip off of a Colplay song, only played in a 'lounge-music' style.

Has anybody else heard this and wondered if it has permission to use this, or is ust a cheapo attempt to recreate Coldplay magic?

Thanks,

Jim.

The Oracle replies:

It's very typical in advertising to recreate popular songs. There's also one for Preston college that's so similar to Viva la Vida but even though it's a rip-off, they're not technically breaking any copyright laws.

Q. Dear Oracle,

I need your advice because I can't seem to find a way to fix my problem. I have a friend that began to have feelings for me 2 years ago. At that time I found out that he liked me, I almost immediately made it clear to him that nothing would ever happen between us. Yet, 2 years later, he still cannot seem to let it go. He still tries to convince me that I should be with him and when he drinks, he continually confesses his love to me. Sometimes, he is very hurtful to me and says this is because he is frustrated that he can't be with me. It really frustrates me that after such a long time, he has made no progress in getting over me. Another problem is that I genuinely think he is a nice person and still want to maintain a friendship with him. But, even more, I would like him to move on from me.

Thanks for your help!

The Oracle replies:

Maybe you could start by making sure you're not around him when he's under the influence of alcohol. If he is a true friend he should respect what you tell him about your feelings. It will be hard to maintain a relationship with another man if this friend is on the scene so ask yourself what the friendship gives you. I'm sorry to say that you probably can't maintain a friendship with this guy if he continues acting in this way. Unrequited love is hard to accept and maybe by distancing yourself, maybe for a short while, it may be the thing he needs to move on. It will be hard for you both but perhaps the more he sees you, the more he thinks there is always a chance of something more.

uh more Dr. Oracle advice !

Q. Is it true the song Green Eyes was written about a cat?

The Oracle replies:

It isn't true no. I think maybe someone is pulling your leg, unless you are pulling mine. It was actually written about 2 people, one of whom is Jonny.

Oooooh! I just read it today. I never knew it was partially about Jonny!:D

I couldn't believe it...well actually I could. Chris & Jonny love.

And it was also about someone in America? Cool!:)

I love the little oracle...the answers are light & funny! Plus you learn all this other information.

and what I was, very badly, trying to say was that I think the questions are just picked at random.

so the mass mailing works because the same questions is asked lots of times, so has greater odds of being picked

Then I reckon we need a question

:inquisitive:

indeed :D any ideas?

Well, the Oracle loves talking about herself soooooooo.....

maybe a question about the Oracle's favorite Coldplay related memory or something like that...we might actually get some info we've never heard before

:D

ooooooh i like that one :D

ooooooh i like that one :D

:D Thank you
