Ask the Oracle on Coldplay.com (Now in session!)

I get your point but for some people it does mean a great deal to be able to see and hear a certain song live.

There are few things I'd love more in life than to be able to see them playing Politik live.. for many personal reasons. So, in the end, I really don't mind when people complain about stuff like that.

  • I can't give you the reasonings on why things changed, but I can give you an update from what I observed. The Oracle was run by Debs Wild. Debs is still with the band and helps out fans, for exam

Q. When the Oracle retires, what Coldplay memory will you treasure?

The Oracle replies:

Hmmm I think there must have been a little conspiracy to get this question answered as it can't be a co-incidence that so many have asked the same question in the same day! That's not why I am answering it by the way. The Oracle isn't easily led.

There are too many amazing memories, first gig, first chart entry, first number one album, first Brit. The list goes on. I am going to choose something very current from this tour. You may have read in Roadie #42's blog about mobile phones being the new glow sticks. Well I have a very short video of that on my phone. It's such a goosebump inducing moment and one I would share with grandchildren were I to have any but that's not likely so am hoping great nieces and nephews will suffice? (FYI: That's directed to the many who asked about grandchildren specifically!)

Hahahaha.... She knows its us. But it works. Next week new question!!! She'll have to answer it cause there are so many of us here....

arrrrrrrrrrggggghhhh bangs head against wall.
we don't need another drummer thankyou :D :P

Oh it wasn't directed at you Aleja :nice: I just meant generally. There's some people in the live section that just go on and on in every single thread on every single show about what they're playing and not playing, bitching and moaning etc...I just meant that's what annoys me. :idea2:

Is this up yet???

Q. Why didn't you pick Bridges in a Bottle to open for your Philly concert? They got so many more votes than the band you chose.

The Oracle replies:

What would have been the point in the band picking the one with the highest votes? They needn't have been involved at all if that was the case. There were some good bands and the standard was high in the top ten, especially the top 5 after voting. At the end of the day the competition was to whittle down the list with public voting and then the band picked their favourite. They were just following the rules.

Q. Will the Timeline be updated with news or serve as Coldplay's historical archive? Thanks!

The Oracle replies:

Now we're in full swing, yes the Timeline will serve as an archive. We may add to it in the coming months but the website content is now archived itself in POST (movies, photos, blogs, interviews and journals).

Q. Dear Oracle, since you are all knowing and so wise, do the guys ever take your advice? If so, can you advise Chris to start listening to Coldplay more often? I'm thinking this is why he sometimes forgets lyrics, just a thought *smile*

The Oracle replies:

They get it even if they don't ask for it! And have been known to take it, or so it would appear. On one occasion I recall the words "Good advice" were proffered.

Chris did admit a few months ago that they would need to learn how to play Trouble again. Always seems to give him a spot of er, trouble! Tee hee.

Yea I know what you mean ..some people do go overboard :uhoh:

SQUEEEEE!!!!!

That's my question!!!Thanks Debs!!!!

Yay! That's a great one too :D

^^Thanks Mimi!!:cheesy:

That was a great question! And they take people's advice...Cool!

I love trouble...that should be in their repertoire most of the time. (Even if my sister said she heard that Chris doesn't like the song? I wouldn't understand why...unless it brings back memories)

I'm with Jenjie. I'm so sick of reading people moaning in the live section. "Waah they didn't play this" "waah they didn't play that" :snore:

People don't seem to understand that they can't play everything and are offended if their own personal favourite isn't played. :dozey:

At the end of the day there is many, many songs I wish they'd play but it's tough. Just be grateful you're getting to see them play live and that they're putting so much into the show.

it may seem irritating to you that we are asking them to play the songs.

But we people are sending requests to them not to you to play it.

if you feel uncomfortable what can we do?

we want them to play the songs and we will send requests, banners and everything we can to make them play it.

just because you felt bad we couldn't stop for your sake.

its our right as fans to ask them to play our favorite songs of our favorite band,if we are not able to do it then there is no point in liking this band itself.

I asked Nettie from my coldplay .com that whether she sent a message to Chris to play Yes and she said yes she did it,she kept a banner before going to the show with Play Yes on it and Chris saw it and started to play it afterwards she kept thanks message behind that banner and showed it to him.

well even i also opened a petition thread for ROL and it succeeded.

we're so happy that they does it for us.But you people come in the middle and say all your objection for us that we should not keep on asking them.

what's the point:thinking: well i will never mind this.

Just be grateful you're getting to see them play live and that they're putting so much into the show.

even i am capable of giving such a free advises to people if they take it from me.

But people do what they like not what you like them to do.

well done Aleja same as what i want to say so badly.:)

Finally i want to say one thing you people may moan at us because we're happily asking our favorite band to play the song we like and feeling disappointed if they do not play it.

Well its our right to ask them and we particularly i here will never stop and will even continue it even furthur just because some people said no here,i'll never consider to mind it.

To everyone who has petitions going to get songs played:

It is great that you want Coldplay to play a song that you love. I get it. There are a few songs I would love to see them perform as well.

I think what gets irritating is when nearly every single post, especially in the live thread (like Mich said) is either asking for a song or bemoaning the fact that it didn't get played.

If Coldplay plays the songs you ask for and you believe it is because of the petitions you have started, then great. Have one thread for your petition or keep it in your signature - that way if they come here then they will see it. It seems unnecessary to keep posting about it in whatever thread you happen to be in at the moment.

Rant over.:)

Flame on. I know its coming;)

you may seem intelligent in ranting at people or offending others.

but we people will never stop doing it,because you asked us to stop it.

Yes i flamed at you.

and also keep your opinions or what ever with yourself and don't expect that we will take it from you and start to do what you said.We are not slaves to you.

OMG I haven't been here in 24 hours first reaction IT WORKED YAYY JEN!

:guitarist::drummer::singer::pimp2:

this is the Lounge fight all over again

rest assured...there is NO fight;)

:)

I also have to reply to what happend above ... I seriously do understand everybody's petitions and stuff, and you should keep doing it... you should keep making banners! I know I will make some kind of banner to hint a song I'd love to hear, and I signed your petition for COL,

but if a concert has already been played and the setlist get's out there's always someone going: where's yes. where's ROL.

we all believe Phil and/or Debs check back here... imagine what it would be like for them to report back to the band and say: well good responses but people keep asking to play ROL, and then they play it but have to take out another song to do so, and the next report is: why did you leave out that song.. I think all they're saying is that it's impossible for everybody to have they're perfect setlist! and in must be killing the band to actually know this.. as we all know how much of a perfectionist Chris Martin is... that's probably why he plays the hardest part by himself... his band members seem to dislike it but still Chris wants to play it because he feels he owes it to us

so keep the requests.. stop the moaning, is what I ask!

and just one more thing...

here's a comment I once got.. and consider very true... asking peple to keep their opinions to themselves on a discussion board is really not right...

sorry for my rant I don't mean to offend anybody :)

edit: there was a Lounge fight?

edit 2: must stay on topic.. did everybody send in the tuesday questoin or are we keeping it for next week?? cause I didn't:uhoh:

Wow...

I think maybe things have got a little out of hand here. No-one was saying you're not allowed to want a certain song to be played. Just that moaning in every single thread is a tad annoying.

I think maybe we should be able to have a healthy debate without it turning into an argument or flaming match. I think maybe things shouldn't be taken so personally :uhoh:

*is scared* :uhoh:

on the other hand... it's keeping me out of the Lounge and tied to the Coldplay section! weeeeeeeeeee!!
