  • I can't give you the reasonings on why things changed, but I can give you an update from what I observed. The Oracle was run by Debs Wild. Debs is still with the band and helps out fans, for exam

It's true. They're the most secretive band in the world.

True!!! :laugh3:

Mhmm, another lame question:

Q. Hey Oracle! How did Trevor Parker know about the exhibition room before it was announced on coldplay.com?

The Oracle replies:

As Anchorman reported the people that responded to the RSVP on the website after the final Wembley show were emailed and invited to take part in the Exhibition Room's launch. The first exhibit was chosen by the Curator from submissions sent to that email address.

the Oracle is lame

today i asked the Oracle if s/he could tell me how to get to Sesame Street. :wacky:

Interesting choice of question :P

Q. Hi Oracle, I have a dilemma that's making me feel somewhat guilty. I've been messaging with this guy I met on the internet. The conversations have ranged from nice and fun, to flirtatious and extremely racy. The problem is, I know this guy has a girlfriend. I tell myself it's ok, because we don't know each other, never seen each other, and we aren't physically doing anything. Plus, we live in two different countries, and its just fantasizing, right? Should I be ashamed, or is it harmless? I seriously want to know from an outside opinion.

Thanks.

The Oracle replies:

The fact you took the time to write to me and ask makes me think you already have your own view of whether this is ok or not; telling yourself it's ok doesn't seem to be working for you otherwise you wouldn't be perhaps looking for outside validation?

So Bonnie rather than sit here playing judge and jury I will urge you to do the following and keep this in mind for any dilemmas you may face...

Look at this from a different perspective.

Put yourself in his girlfriend's shoes. How would you feel if you discovered your boyfriend was sending another girl such messages? Cheating doesn't necessarily have to involve physical activity. Even though you are miles apart would it make any difference if he lived 2 streets away?

That's a cool question, Brooke

Rove was tweeting about it too today!

Q. Dear Oracle

I have no question. Just want to send the band my thanks for their 100 Fuse interview.

It's nice that they show there fans the real history behind the band.

Your big fan S.O.S.

The Oracle replies:

For those who missed it, Fuse 100's interview with the band traces their early years to X&Y.

Q. Dear Oracle,

I've recently taken up bass guitar and I can't seem to find many recognizable - and of course by this I mean that someone would need to be able to tell what song it was right away - and semi-easy songs to learn. So my question is do you have any suggestions, and also in your opinion, what songs have the best bass lines of all time?

The Oracle replies:

There are so many astounding bass lines from jazz, blues, funk, soul to grunge and rock but these are the ones that sprang to my mind immediately.

Queen's Another One Bites the Dust.

The Breeders' Cannonball.

Stevie Wonder's I Wish.

The Beatles' Come Together.

Wild Cherry's Play That Funky Music.

Brad's 20th Century.

Q. Oracle!

I met this really nice guy a couple days ago and I really enjoyed our conversation.

I later found out that he actually lives in my building on the same floor!

I'd really like to get to know him better, but I don't know how to approach him!

Help me dear Oracle!

The Oracle replies:

But you've already met him and chatted so the difficult part is already over. Just get yourself over there and talk to him again. Suggest going somewhere and take it from there. I always think the straightforward approach is best, why waste time?

Broooooooooke!!! You can answer that best!

Q. What exactly did Brooke have for lunch?

The Oracle replies:

Brooke's Lunch was a fluffernutter (peanut butter and marshmallow) sandwich and apple juice.

the Oracle is right! :cheesy: (of course, it says it in the video description :P)

and it was so delicious. :wacky:

Awww I've never tasted such a thing :wacky:

Mich, I love it that way! :)

Q. I've noticed that the version of Yellow being played in the tour so far is faster than the album and previous live versions. Any reason for this change in tempo?

The Oracle replies:

As you can imagine when you have a song that you know you are going to be playing for the rest of your career it's good to take a different spin on it every tour. They did however ditch an acoustic version... If you look back to the Twisted Logic tour there was a completely different approach then too.

Q. Hi Oracle hope all is well; I was thinking of trying to earn a few extra quid for good old crimbo....I have been considering busking which leads me to the following questions

1. Did any of Coldplay ever

busk either together or alone?

2. If so... Were they any good?

and

3. How much did they make?

:) JB BELFAST.

The Oracle replies:

Chris and Will did in fact busk together during their time at UCL and they humbly say that they weren't great and didn't actually earn much at all!

Wrote the oracle asking how they can call that a stripped performance when they are all wearing clothes! :sneakyjoe:

Nice question though ! ^^

Q. Dear Oracle,

I was just reading the Hopes and Fears deluxe edition booklet, and it says, "The same label had helped Coldplay by releasing their Brothers & Sisters single in 1999 (which meant Rice-Oxley was following in the footsteps of former University friend Chris Martin)."

Does that mean that Chris and Tim aren't friends anymore?

The Oracle replies:

The 'former' is referring to the University not to be being friends. They do still bump into each other from time to time but aren't actually close friends as both are so busy with their bands. It's very hard to keep in touch with people when you're in a band; writing, recording and touring. Chris once phoned Danny MacNamara (Embrace) to ask if they were still friends as it had been so long since he'd had the chance to get in touch. (He said yes by the way).

For anyone interested the label that released both Coldplay's and Keane's first outing was Fierce Panda.

Q. Dear Oracle,

My sister is currently living at Nova Scotia, and yesterday she told me she saw Chris walking down the street, which, as she likes to exaggerate, I didn't believe. We both decided to investigate if this fact was true, so I decided to ask to you, is it true that he was at Nova Scotia around November 9?

I will surely be jealous but amazed at the same time if it is true, because my sister assures he smiled at her!

Thanks for your time and information, take care.

The Oracle replies:

I doubt it was exaggeration perhaps just a case of mistaken identity as Chris was in London for sure.

Q. Please clarify for non-United Kingdom folk:

quid = pound(s)

crimbo = ?

busk(ing) = ?

Thanks Oracle!

The Oracle replies:

Ah yes, there were a few people from the States and Scandinavia who also asked this question.

A quid is one pound, Chrimbo/Crimbo is another name for Christmas and busking is performing music on the streets for money. You can be moved along by police in many areas so it's worth checking before you venture into this! FYI: London Underground allows a number of artists to perform at certain pitches; before 2003 it was actually illegal.

Q. Dear Oracle

I have a girlfriend, and I promised to be honest with her about every thing between us.

yesterday, I had an erotic dream with a girl friend of mine. should I tell her this or bury it with me?

The Oracle replies:

Dreams can be funny things Gabriel. You can have intimate dreams about people that you don't have those kind of feelings for. You may wake up feeling confused and wonder whether maybe you do have hidden feelings you aren't aware of.

Be honest about your real life but the subconscious dream doesn't necessarily mean there's something you have to confess to.

It could be that she featured in your dream because her name was mentioned during the day or you saw her recently etc. Meanings of dreams can sometimes be very obvious but don't let it potentially ruin your relationship.

If however you do have strong feelings towards another girl and know this is why you had the dream, perhaps it's time to address your relationship. Either way you still don't really need to tell her about the dream.

Q. Hello Oh Mighty Oracle!

I am interested in creating a music video for The Exhibition Room. If I want to create a music video for a Coldplay song, will this go against the whole copyright situation it mentions?

Thanks!

Melissa from Los Angeles =)

The Oracle replies:

The Curator says they're looking for original music and soundtracks to the videos so would prefer people not to use any other artist's music. Apparently Coldplay music may be considered but so far none of those have been selected. The Exhibition Room is not like the Lost? video competition which is why the world is your oyster...
