Q. How are you Oracle? On the radio, we just heard Coldplay covering Billie Jean so are we to assume that their version from the tour was released as a single?

p.s. What was your Halloween costume?

Many thanks, S

The Oracle replies:

No it's not a single. Anchorman reported earlier this month that iheartradio added the Stripped performance from July to their website and since then the track has been picked up. The fact that the song is a cover of a well known recently deceased artist no doubt made it a track of interest; that said it was therefore a "new" tune in the set on tour and not available on a Coldplay recording so that's another reason radio would be keen to play it.

I'm afraid this year I didn't dress up for Halloween...most unlike me.

  • I can't give you the reasonings on why things changed, but I can give you an update from what I observed. The Oracle was run by Debs Wild. Debs is still with the band and helps out fans, for exam

Q. There has been a concert of Coldplay some years ago where Noel G. attend and Chris climbed up the tribune during In My Place to give him a hug. Do you know when this concert was?

The Oracle replies:

Noel Gallagher has been to more than one Coldplay show but given that I was sat next to Noel on the occasion you mention I remember only too well that it was at Hackney's Round Chapel back on Tuesday 19th April 2005. It featured Chris perform a spectacular jump from the balcony that left a lot of people nervous!

Q. Hi almighty Oracle!

There is this documentary/book/movement called The Secret, I've watched the documentary myself.. and just wanted to know what do you think about mind power?

AC

Thanks a lot, Flor

The Oracle replies:

For those that don't know, The Secret explains that the law of attraction is the most powerful law in the Universe.

For me personally I feel that you can get back what you put in and that includes times when I have felt the need for positive change. Rather than say "I wish" or "I want" something I have believed that it will happen and therefore affirmed it by saying it as if it's already fact. I have to confess that it has worked for me many times so I can't dismiss it. I'm open-minded and I think positive thinking doesn't do any harm. After all if you're not expecting it to go well that proves you're not thinking positively!

I am pretty proactive myself anyway and like to think that if I work hard, set myself goals to fulfil my ambitions whilst still remaining kind to others, I can do almost anything!

Q. Since the webpage claims that you would know everything..I want to present you a riddle : An old man sells his owl in a shop for 50 DM (Deutsche Mark). Then he buys himself one new pair of shoes for 49 DM and one ticket for the tram for 50 Pfennig. He then boards the train but after 3 stations the conductor kicks him out. Why ?

The Oracle replies:

Well I'm amazed he got so far since we're all using the Euro these days....

Q. 'Ello! I recently decided to become hunky and lose some weight. Now the gentlemen of Coldplay provide the best tunes of all time, but I shuffled long and hard through my CP playlist for a good running tune (apart from last 2 mins of fix you) what would you recommend?

PS You're clever , I've knocked the pints on the head but surely a splash of vodka with a wee orange mixer is fine?

The Oracle replies:

I think it would depend on your pace. If you want a gentle jog any will do.

If you prefer a faster soundtrack however... 42 would be a great starter to ease yourself into it and the pounding of Politik would suit your last push before the cool down phase.

If you're looking to soundtrack the entire run with Coldplay, when you want to pick up the speed Yellow, Clocks, Daylight, One I Love, Square One, Viva la Vida, Life in Technicolor ii, Glass of Water, Rainy Day, Lost! or Lovers in Japan to name a few.

Vodka, gin, rum are your best choice of spirits - in moderation of course - with soda water or a diet mixer. Yes I know you're not keen but honestly the taste will grow on you and try a few different flavours and brands before you dismiss them! Stay away from wine though champagne isn't as bad.

Good luck, I'm proud of you...

Q. Hello dear Oracle/Elcaro =)

1) Today I've listened to my friend's mp3-player and I found the song which was unknown to me before - Sliding by Coldplay. Could you tell me something about this composition? Is it B-side?

2) I'd like to study in the University in Scotland but I haven't any chance to realize it. What should I do? Help me, please.

Thank you =)

The Oracle replies:

Actually [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJcHdLQFDeE]Sliding[/ame] isn't a Coldplay song though it does feature both Chris & Jonny. It's from the 3rd solo album Slideling by [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCB835WJsgs&feature=PlayList&p=B776F763AD0405FD&index=2]Ian McCulloch[/ame].

This article should go some way to help with your second query.

Q. Dear Oracle,

I am in love with a girl whom I proposed to about 8 months now. Yet she hasn't given her answer to me. If I ask her best friend, she says I don't have a chance, yet I am not willing to accept that fact. We do get close sometimes, but that isn't enough as she keeps hurting me with different reason, and the one I hate most is when she purposely tries to make me jealous talking to other guys. My question is am I wasting my time here?

The Oracle replies:

To put it bluntly, yes it does sound as though you are wasting your time. As long as you continue on this path you're not doing what's best for you. If you are as determined as you seem to be my suggestion is to back off and leave her alone. You may find that when you take away the interest she won't like it. This can be a true test of how someone feels and she may then come to you. I won't lie though, if she's not responded with a "yes" by now and is flirting with other guys it may be that she's not interested in you in that way but likes the attention.

/off topic Cindy, I just noticed your siggy. Thanks hun

you are most welcome, Zeya:nice:

Q. I'm turning 40 this week.

Is this all there is?

The Oracle replies:

Surely you've heard the saying 'Life begins at 40'? See this as a new chapter and embrace it. I don't want to bring you down so my theory is this: Many people aren't fortunate enough to see 40 we should be grateful for every day. As a close of my friend says, "you're never gonna be as young as you are today"; Enjoy it, after all they also say that 40 is the new 30!

FYI: If it makes you feel better, my 40th birthday is in my past...

Q. Why did Coldplay not play Shiver for the Viva La Vida Tour? It's one of their best songs!

The Oracle replies:

There's an interesting Roadie #42 blog

about how after more than 150 shows Shiver got a dusting off and the band gave it a try backstage...

They can't possibly play every song and Shiver just didn't make the final set list.

But EVERYONE wants to hear it!!!

I think it's the one song thay don't do anymore that absolutely everybody loves...

exactly! I hope they'll play it in the Latin american tour

Blame Guy, he's the one vetoing it. :(

Blame Guy, he's the one vetoing it. :(

Be nice to hear it in an intimate, acoustic setting eh? :smug:

Haha, it would...is unlikely for many reasons though :P

Yeah, let's blame Guy.I want Shiver!Maybe if they played Crest of waves (which he really likes) he could agree to play Shiver.Ultimatums.

Q. What are the positives of being single? I'm trying to be optimistic but am coming up short.

The Oracle replies:

Well I can see one massive bonus right now... just think how much money you will save not having to buy the other half a Christmas present! Spend it on yourself Caroline as a treat. Single life can sometimes be hard especially if it's not through choice but try to see it as you time. You might be single right now but it doesn't necessarily mean you will be for long so while you are, enjoy yourself by doing what YOU want. Spend as much time as you can doing all the things you like before you get into a relationship that requires compromise and commitment.

It can be very empowering to have the freedom to decide when and where you go out or in fact stay in... And who with; I bet there are many people who would envy that. Make the most of this precious time and you will be appreciate yourself more. Try not to see it as a negative but more of being the captain of your own ship with a crew of one. Take it from one who knows...

Q. Dear Oracle, I was on YouTube and I came across a short clip on Chris and Jonny, and they were apparently going to be in a horror movie? The title of the clip was "SLASHED: Chris Martin And Jonny Buckland In Horror Film!" Is this a real film? Thanks:)

~Veronica

The Oracle replies:

For those that don't know, the film Slashed was a concept by the band Ash back in 2003. It was scheduled to be shown at the time but until now it hadn't seen the light of day. Chris & Jonny took parts in it as spoof detectives based on Sherlock Holmes characters.
