  • I can't give you the reasonings on why things changed, but I can give you an update from what I observed. The Oracle was run by Debs Wild. Debs is still with the band and helps out fans, for exam

Q. Um... there is this difficult decision I have to make...

So we are 3 boys and 2 girls in sort of a band. The girls sing, but it seems like they don't want to sing anymore after a few weeks. Should we - the boys - kick them out? I mean, we all are good friends, we're in the same class, and we wouldn't want to ruin that!

What should I do?

Thank you!

The Oracle replies:

Don't make this a boys versus girls issue. It's a band issue plain and simple. Arrange a band meeting and ask each member whether they are committed to the band and anyone who isn't can leave.

For it to have a chance of working everyone has to put the effort in. If this is just a hobby to them maybe you need to establish that.

You can still be friends but don't let the meeting turn into a fight.

You said you are in "sort of a band" so that begs the question, are any of you actually committed?

Think seriously about why you are doing it and what you want to achieve because you all need to have a shared goal or it won't work.

Q. Hello Oracle!

I just read the 109th Roadie 42 blog, about The Beehive, and I was wondering if the studios used by the band for Parachutes, A Rush Of Blood To The Head, and X&Y had names too, like The Bakery for Viva La Vida. Thanks a bundle!

The Oracle replies:

The studios where the first three albums were recorded had names of course but were already well established as studios; Rockfield, Parr St and Sarm Studios were used.

Q. Hi, Oracle, I'm 17 and I have an issue I really need help sorting out. There is a chance I could be pregnant, but I really have no clue as to what I should tell my parents. I know they'd be angry if I told them. But they'd be just as angry if I didn't. My boyfriend is very loving and kind, and he promised to stay by my side through everything. So a part of me says that I don't need to tell my parents. But all the same, I don't want to lie to them.

The Oracle replies:

Sweetheart, if there's a "chance" you may be pregnant the first thing you need to do is find out for sure! Go to a family planning clinic or doctor and take a test then if you are; tell your parents. They may be angry, hurt and disappointed but at the end of the day they are your parents and you will need to tell them. The longer you leave it the harder it will be to both hide and then consequently tell them.

If you are carrying their grandchild once they have got over their initial reaction to the news, they will hopefully be a great source of support and comfort.

Q. Hello, I was wondering if the boys had any partake in the Exhibition Room idea? Thanks very much, Blaire.

The Oracle replies:

The band are involved creatively in everything that they do; the website - including the Exhibition Room - is no exception.

Q. Hi I saw a Coldplay video on a music channel once, I haven't seen it since but really liked the song and the video. It looks like they are playing in a studio room, Chris Martin is wearing a Rolling Stones t-shirt. Can you tell me what the song is and where I can see the video?

The Oracle replies:

The song (and video) you're looking for is [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pemcik_-H_E]Shiver[/ame]. This was the band's debut single with Parlophone after their first release - The Blue Room E.P.

Q. Who is Disco Ken!?

The Oracle replies:

That'd be Ken Nelson who produced Parachutes, AROBTTH and some tracks on X&Y.

congrats, Blaire:thumbsup:! i was wondering that too:)

Blaire... how long did it take after the time you submitted your question for the Oracle to post an answer? Was it the next day, a week, a month...

Q. Hi Oracle,

On the Whatever It Takes mug that I bought, how come in Chris' drawing, Guy looks like Jonny, Chris looks like Guy and Jonny looks like Chris? Is this on purpose? Will is the ONLY one that looks like himself. Chris doesn't have black hair, I'm sure of it!

Thanks!

Allie

The Oracle replies:

I actually disagree and think that Jonny is the nearest likeness on the mug!

I do see what you mean though and Chris has never had black hair but the instruments and cap give it away - as well as their initials on each member's t-shirt.

Q. Hello Oracle,

I think you've made a mistake. You told Tom from the UK that Shiver was on the Blue Room EP. It wasn't, Shiver was first released on Parachutes. Just a clarification, all-knowing Oracle. ;)

The Oracle replies:

Taylor the mistake is yours. If you re-read my repsonse please note the word AFTER... that is very important.

Now before I dish out a hundred lines of "I will not doubt the Oracle" go and have a look! ;)

Q. Was Chris Jonny's best man and if so did he do a funny speech?

The Oracle replies:

Actually it was Will...

May I take this opportunity to say many thanks for all your messages of congratulations by the way.

Good pick, Jonny! I think Chris would be an awful Best Man!

The Oracle seems to have the lateshift these days ;)

And 'Awwwww ....' about will being Jonny's bestman :) :smug:

Good pick, Jonny! I think Chris would be an awful Best Man!

He wouldn't really be awful :laugh4:

You guys missed this one....;)

Q. What happened to the kitten found in the Hollywood Bowl's ceiling?

The Oracle replies:

The kitten was one of many born to a cat that always went back to have her kittens there. All the kittens were adopted out to homes. If you haven't seen it, it's 4 minutes in...

Q. Oracle, you're Dr. Frasier Crane aren't you?

Ines

The Oracle replies:

I can't deny that I have long been a fan of Frasier. I aspire to be as popular in the advice giving stakes but I think I could beat him hands down with my Coldplay knowledge. It's a bit like Mastermind ... they're my chosen specialized subject!

Q. Dear Oracle, I truly feel I've known you for a long time. I don't know why really. Maybe we were friends in some other lifetime? Haha. What's playin' on the telly beside Chris during Viva la Vida performances? Could you post or direct us to the clip? It's quite interesting... And I think the band is playing different instruments. Am I right?

The Oracle replies:

Yes you're right though they're not actually playing the instruments for real. The television has been a featured prop during the Viva tour.

I love that she actually highlights certain words that she knows she'll get questions about!

Will was Jonny best man.... But it's strange to me that that wasn't Chris...maybe Jonny feared Chris will make his best man speech a 'Chris martin embarassing show' :laugh3:

I think they probably take turns being best men :D For example if Jonny was Chris' best man, Will was Jonny's, Guy was Will's and Chris was Guy's.

Oh, wait. What about Phil? :o Hm, yeah, but you get my theory :smug:

Will was Jonny best man.... But it's strange to me that that wasn't Chris...maybe Jonny feared Chris will make his best man speech a 'Chris martin embarassing show' :laugh3:

Exactly! That's why I said he's be an awful best man. The speech would ramble on for ages and he'd just giggle and apologise all the time :laugh3:
