  • I can't give you the reasonings on why things changed, but I can give you an update from what I observed. The Oracle was run by Debs Wild. Debs is still with the band and helps out fans, for exam

Awww she knows!?

Yes, she actually had her picture taken with it too. :nice:

That's so nice that the letter was put up :D

Yep, it was very sweet that she posted it :nice:

Q. Hi Oracle, Is the new Coldplay Fragrance a perfume, cologne or both?

awwwwww :) love ya, Debs

So sweet of her to post the letter!! Debs

The Oracle replies:

It's neither; Angst was totally made up as an April Fool's Day joke and not only has it not SOLD OUT as the shop stated, it does not exist at all!

joke killer.

Julie! She finally posted one of your letters. :D Phil said they would put your link up. Congrats!

Today's questions...

Q. In the Prospekt's March booklet, there is a picture of the band running uphill with one person almost directly behind them and a lot of people way down the hill. Who are those extra people? Thank you, Oracle.

The Oracle replies:

All the 'people' in that photograph are actually the band members.

Q. Dear Oracle,

What does lol and lmao means?

Thanks in advance :)

The Oracle replies:

Oooh there are my pet hates right there! In the good old days LOL used to mean lots of love but now it means laugh out loud. LMAO is short for laugh my ass off.

Text speak, as I call it, has crept into society at an alarming rate whereas such abbreviations were once most commonly seen in adverts; particularly dating ones. GSOH being one of the most frequently used - good sense of humour.

Q. To Mr./ Mrs. Oracle

To say the least, I'm way behind. What is the message that appears in text at the bottom to the music video Talk?

The Oracle replies:

The text is the lyrics reversed. Starting at 2:23, "Well I feel like they're talking in a language I don't speak and they're talking it to me".

Hmmm... sounds like someone must have Comcast cable. That video has been in the free on-demand section for a couple of weeks. :D I actually just watched it last night.

Bless the guy for saying he's a bit behind

Talk is probably my favourite Coldplay vid

oh yes it was!! I was surprised it was there actually and Fix You was there too!

Mine too. I love that it's shot in black and white and the whole concept of the video. I remember watching it so much when it came out! :D

oh yes it was!! I was surprised it was there actually and Fix You was there too!

And I love it when Comcast posts their Bittersweet Symphony collabo with Richard Ashcroft. I watch it over and over again when it's available. The first time I saw... :dead: I especially love the part right as the violin starts up and the crowd starts cheering, and you see Will just sitting there in the back and he shakes his head for a brief moment in one of those awestruck realizations of, "am I really here, am I really doing this, oh my eff this is amazing."

Yes that one is amazing, so good!!!!!

I watched it over and over too:lol:

Yeah its stunning!!!!!!!!

Q. Dear Oracle,

Please settle this argument between my friend and I.

I argue that for a song (with lyrics) to be good, it must have good musical qualities as well as good lyrics. Even for acapella the lyrics still involve a melody, which is definitely a musical quality. He thinks that if you have amazing lyrics, it doesn't matter what type of music or melody you have with it.

Whether or not you put more importance on lyrics or instrumental/melody, it can't be good song with just lyrics, or else it's just poetry. Right?

The Oracle replies:

Lyrics without the existence of music aren't lyrics but (as you said) poetry in my opinion. There are however some amazing lyrics of songs that I don't necessarily think have a great melody and vice versa. Of course the perfect match is to get both spot on. My subjective list of examples is endless but I reckon Tears of a Clown (Smokey Robinson) is one of my favourites; partly because not only is it musically brilliant but the melancholy words with that happy melody is a stroke of genius juxtaposition!

Q. Dear Oracle,

I've been wondering this for a while now... Did any of the guys finished their college careers... as an engineer student, I'd love to know if I can call Guy colleague!!! :D

Many many many hugs and kisses from Colombia. Thanks for the best concert ever!!!

The Oracle replies:

The band's career was just taking off as they were finishing their studies; Guy had already decided to discontinue but Chris, Jonny & Will all completed - and passed - their finals.

Q. Hey most-smarticle-Oracle! Plz help me!

I watch the show SNL every Saturday,(do you?)and I remember the time Coldplay was the musical guest.Oct. 25, 2008 to be exact! I thought they played wonderfully but I couldn't figure out one of the songs they played at the end credits... It puzzles me from that day on... Please if you can list all the songs they played that night! (In order preferably).

Thank you so much! :D

Viva La Coldplay!

The Oracle replies:

Their first was Viva la Vida followed by Lost! The 3rd song was Yellow and the song that's puzzling you is Lovers in Japan which was the closing credit track and therefore cut as soon as it got started!

Oh, how weird... I was just thinking about that SNL performance this morning! (Thinking about LP5, wondering if it will come out at the end of the year, hoping they perform on SNL like they did before...) On SNL, most musicians just perform two songs, so I thought it was amazing when they performed three, and then tried to throw in a fourth one at the very end. On top of that, they did something that I don't think I've ever seen any other musicians do on that show. Usually, there is an audience in chairs on the floor in front of the (rather small) stage. But you know Chris, Mr. Energizer Bunny hopping all over the place, there wasn't enough room for his hop-hop antics so all the seats on the floor were removed so there was enough room. I wonder they put those people...
