Politik is the best. The emotional and epic scope of that song is stratospheric, and just isn't quite matched by any of their other songs (thought they come very close). Plus it's cool how Chris gets so into this song in particular.

Politik is definetely one of the best CP songs, especially live. The 2003 version is the best live performance of any coldplay songn so far IMO. Goosebumps everytime I see/hear it.

Agreed. The version played at the Grammys with the orchestra in the background was the pinnacle for me.

WAHOOO!!! Got Politik @ MGM Grand In Vegas. It was amazing w/ the lights and stuff. I'm in love w/ the song.....but "In My Place" has to top it in a Live concert. :smug:

Politik is their best. After pulling 2 days without sleep, hours of traffic, thousands of drunk people, dust everywhere standing for hours on end, botchy sound tech. Politik made it all worth it! It was perfect Chris' vocals were perfect, sound tech fixed it up so no highs and lows.

 

Lighting was amazing and the solo, my god the solo. It was amazing! Then Lovers In Japan after, easily one of their best live. I cant get over it!

When this song is played live, nothing else by Coldplay can top it.

Live at Glastonbury 2002 was the greatest Coldplay Politik performance ever.

Politik is the best song ever to me. Of all times.

I can't explain what this song does to me. I love it when i'm very happy, I love it when i'm very angry (all this energy, wauw), I love it when I'm sad. Really the one song that is just perfect for every mood, to me. I got to hear the song two times live this year, and at that moment I was just standing there..enjoying the moment and almost as in a trance hihi :)

I remember the first time I heard Politik...

 

I wanted to test this recently released album titled A Rush Of Blood To The Head at the record shop. Prior to that I only knew Coldplay as the band who did Yellow and Trouble. I liked those songs quite a bit, so I thought it'd be nice if I gave their new album a spin.

 

So I pressed play.

 

5 minutes later I probably looked like this => :stunned:

 

The energy, the anger, the emotion... It really is one of the best songs Coldplay has released.

Politik is bloody amazing, not only one of the greatest Coldplay songs but one of the greatest songs of all time!! As an album and live opener, nothing comes close to it. They really should put it back as the opener to the live shows rather than Life in Technicolour.

Me too,My parents had bought it to me in a shop in other city and I only knowed the singles I think,and when it started with politik I :stunned: too,hehe,it's a great song,love live perfomaces too,e.g Live 2003 and Grammys 2003.

I'm glad it wasn't released as a single, some songs just shouldn't be a single. Then it would be played over and over again untill you get sick of it. Now it stays beautiful, for just the people who know the whole album. :)

is it just me or is this the greatest fucking song coldplay ever came up with.

 

i was a bit disheartened when chris called parachutes rubbish because it's one of my favourite albums but after all he obviously knows his shit what with politik also being on his top 3.

 

the last bit of politik (around 3:00 mark and onwards) is better than all of viva la vida + x & y combined.

Understand that almost all artist's hate their early work at some point, so it's natural that Chris doesn't like Parachutes anymore. But he obviously thought it was good at the time, so don't let his craziness affect your love for it;)

 

The final "but give me love over this" gives me goosebumps, but Yellow is the best E V E R

It's too intense. A good rockin' tune, but I like the up-beat newer stuff. Clocks is better too:P

Gonna second all the praises of its performance live. Several live songs like Lost! and In My Place sound much better than their recordings, but Politik takes the cake, and is one of my favorite Coldplay songs overall. No doubt my favorite non-single, at the least.

They did play it in Oklahoma City when I went and saw them. It was AMAZING live!!!!!

It is still a part of the current setlist, and I sincerely hope it's not rotated out by the time they revisit the States in the summer...

politik rox my soxxxxx def in my top 3. Its so rockish yet so beautiful judging by the lyrics....it has everything you want :D

I actually could not listen to this song for the longest time. It would start and I would immediately hit next to hear In My Place, but after watching the live 2003 DVD (Ive never been able to see them live in person) I love listening to it. It might not be the best Coldplay song, heck its not even the best to me from A Rush of Blood to the Head, but it is definitely great.
