Yes, those are awesome Julia! :D

I wore my oxford boots to school today. My feet were on a 90º angle for seven hours. But walking in them wasn't as bad as I thought, the only thing was that I felt so awkward being tall today. :\ People stared at me a lot but oh well. I got lots of compliments on them (Even from my AP Euro teacher!) and they were really cute. :nice:

I wore them with dark wash skinny jeans, a ruffly cream colored bow neck blouse, Gold chain and charm necklace, pinkish colored cardigan and a pearl bracelet. I was running late this morning (as usual) and I forgot to put on a headband. :( I felt so naked without one, lol. :P

:D:D:D!!

hi i have a question (especially for the UK girls):

what's the general fashion sense over there during the summer? i'll be over in England for study abroad and so far i know what to avoid wearing on the streets: tracksuits with large gold jewelry and a faux-Burberry cap/hat/etc. (lol) , but somehow i don't know what's acceptable to wear so that i won't stick out as a total tourist.

^i second that question, although all year round. however, i figure it's not THAT much different than what's acceptable in the US, and even if it was, i couldn't afford to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe anyway :P

however, i have learned that in general, it's not really that acceptable to go out in sweatpants or pajama pants in europe like it is in the US. i learned that one the hard way

OH YEAH.

that is worth a quote.

i don't get why it's so common to go shopping late at night or early in the morning in pj's in the u.s.

i remember that one night when we went to VONS and i already wore my pj's and i needed another half an hour to get done, whereas my cousin just went in flip flops and a washed out hoodie.

i guess it's just that a lot of americans don't care about what they wear. they go out in short shorts and flip flops (even people who can't afford wearing that combination due to weight issues), which is not very common over here. we're a bit more conservative. and obviously very shallow and superficial. and not very friendly. haha.

seriously, americans are friendlier. and i don't care if it's artificial friendliness. :P it's better than the overall depressive mood over here.

just bought this at h&m!!

i've seen this jacket a couple times now, and i REALLY want it. do you think it would still be in stores in 2 weeks when i go home? there isn't an H&M around here where i'm at uni, and i hate how you can't order online from america :bigcry:

haha, it's common to go out like that ALL THE TIME . part of it i think is just a style among teenagers mostly, and part of it is just because it's not that big a deal to go out to do a few errands, so it shouldn't be something you have to go get dressed up for. i like to be comfortable and i don't really care what i'm wearing if i'm just going to the bank and the post office for 20 minutes max. i tend to put on something slightly nicer if i'm going out to the mall or for any extended period of time, but i really don't see the big deal in wearing sweatpants/pajamas if you're just popping out for less than an hour.

in holland, my house was literally right next door to the supermarket--it was less than a 15 second walk to the entrance of the store. one day we ran out of milk for breakfast or something, so i grabbed my wallet and walked down the street to buy milk. the entire trip took less than three minutes, but i can't TELL you the number of stares and weird looks i got because i was wearing navy sweatpants with the name of my school down the leg! i just thought it was pretty stupid to get dressed and made up for something that took less than 5 minutes.

and college students? everyone wears sweatpants and pajamas like 24/7. this is something i'm going to have a hard time giving up next year

going out in pjs is totally out of need for comfort wear, but it generally looks messy. i do admit going to classes in my pjs (b/c i'm too lazy and tired from studying all night and sitting in class for 3-8 hours.....i could use all the comfort there :dozey:), but otherwise i opt out on wearing them in public.

actually what's amusing is that going out in your pjs/sweats is okay anywhere, but if you wear high heels to places other than shopping/dining/nightlife spots it kind of leaves a worse impression...

to me, there's a difference between looking messy and looking very casual. i like looking very casual and comfortable, but not messy. it's hard to explain, but there are only certain casual clothes i'd wear out of the house, i guess :P

and agreed about wearing PJs to classes :D. however, i now wear sweatpants/work out clothes to classes three days a week because i have gym class three days a week (:dozey:), and it's too much of a hassle to carry a change of clothes and shoes with me all day (and since the gym is on the other side of campus, i don't have time to change before class, either). i have to say, three out of 5 days a week is a bit much :P

and yeah, for everyday things, i'd rather be slightly underdressed than overdressed. being overdressed is almost considered...slutty, depending on the venue.

oh definitley! it's a spring jacket, so it should be out for at least all of spring. :D!!

on the dutch website (i love that i still know enough dutch to navigate it ), it comes in a bunch of colors...i'm really digging the white. did they have it in more than one color in the american stores, or was it just blue?

does anybody else feel the urge to go see "confessions of a shopaholic"?

haha, i don't need to see it in the cinema, but i wouldn't mind watching it via download.

anybody got a link?

::EDIT:: i remember the h&m jacket came in different colours, such as green. i might as well check out the german site again.

^ i don't know how that torrent thingy works. plus, i don't want to download any kind of additional programme. :(

I've never seen anyone wearing a pijama outside!!

I'm embarrased even when I go to check the mail inbox outside using just a pijama

they're working on getting an online store for the US....hopefully. :\

H&M have been offering coupons for purchases (20% off one item, 50% one item when you buy three items, etc.), so when you get back home and the jacket is still there at full price, don't forget to USE 'em! :)

oh, and personally, i'd like the reddish/pink jacket. i don't usually wear anything hot pink, haha, but that colour goes well with brown hair! :nice:
