Dear Debs,

We are writing to you on behalf of the members of http://www.coldplaying.com. A few nights ago, our member and moderator Lore came up with the idea for the project that has now become known as the “Postcards from Far Away Project,” and the idea has rapidly grown and taken shape in the past week with help from literally hundreds of our members. Our idea is this: to say thanks to Coldplay for all that they have done throughout the years and have given us this year in particular, we would like to have every Coldplayer send a postcard or two to the band expressing our thanks or a heartfelt message and wishes for the holiday season. We know that people have been sending fanmail since the beginning of time, practically, yet we think that potentially hundreds of postcards sent under the umbrella of a unified project would bring our thanks to an entirely new level and better illustrate our appreciation for all that the band and the Coldplay camp have done for the fans this year.

We have been aware of the mailing address at the EMI offices for a while now, and since some Coldplayers have sent mail to that address and gotten responses, we know it works. However, we were wondering if there would be a better address for us to mail our Postcards from Far Away Project cards to, perhaps to the Bakery itself, and if you could tell us this address. If the EMI address is still the only address publically available, that becomes our plan B. Our plan A is mailing all our cards to a volunteer Coldplayer, who will then drop the cards off to the Bakery’s postbox on a predetermined date in December, but it would mean a lot to us and to our Project if we had the Debs seal-of-approval and perhaps a new or better address to make our Project especially effective. We have worked incredibly hard and remarkably cooperatively so far on plans and methods, and it would be especially wonderful if our means of contacting the band were confirmed or upgraded.

If you would, we would also like to have our Project be as much of a surprise to the band as possible. If you can think of any reason for them to know beforehand, then by all means alert them to our plan, but otherwise we’d like them to be surprised in December by their Bakery postbox being full to burst of postcards from all over the world.

Thank you for your time and anticipated cooperation, and we hope to hear from you soon!

Tell me about it! The Beatles are my life... I have a whole bookshelf full of Beatles books, and I even had an internship at Apple Corps!

At least we have... Coldplaymania?

^^ PERFECT!

It's good. SEEEEEENNNNNND it :D

One comment on the email: we really only ask Debs for an address, but I think we should add that if she has any help/suggestions to offer in general, anything would be great.

(An offtopic response to your offftopic response, etc:

When I interned, they gave me enough merchandise to fill an entire suitcase - we had to pay extra baggage charges :P I also got a personal tour of Abbey Road Studios... Incidentally, they have Parachutes hanging on the wall in the waiting area there :D )

since I'll send it , it might sound weird if I'd say "A few nights ago, our member and moderator Lore came up with the idea for the project that has now become known as the “Postcards from Far Away Project,"

so I'll change that a bit :P

I'll tell you some stories/ show you pictures sometime... It was definitely the best two weeks ever :D

Yeah, add as many of our solid plans as we can fit without sounding completely mad. Then she'll know that we've thought about this.... A LOT. Over 50 pages worth of thinking, in fact. :P

Ah, I can't believe we're actually sending it *has nervous breakdown*

it's great

I'll send it now :D

QQHEFWDKNOKMSCWFCI NOOO! I completely forgot the Office was on tonight! :bigcry:

And just to be annoying, a bit of proofreading: you wrote " if would be wonderful if you would let us know", and the first word should be it, not if. Yes, I'm crazy, I know.

Otherwise, great! As long as no one wants to mention plan C (delivering at a gig). I don't think we need to.

OOH SHIT.

thanks for that, zoe! i typed out that sentence while watching TV :uhoh:

@lore: i just added it to the MSword document i already had with that line in there :bomb:. lo siento :D
