I have to say, I think I can only get to London in the first weekend of December (which is before the O2 gig, right?)

I live in the Northwest, but I get a longweekend from work then, so I'd have time to travel down.

I still really like the idea of wrapping them up all nicely and handing them over to someone, rather than shoving them through a mailslot that may or may not be in use... but I'll go with whatever Guru Lore tells me to do :P

Well, those two posts are opposites! :P I definitely agree, Chelsea, I had the same worry.

Maybe someone closer to London can agree to arrange a PO Box and drop them off at the Bakery instead? If you can't get there, we don't want to make you rearrange your life for this ;)

Don't worry, I was planning a trip down anyway (my friend Vicky is about to have a baby so I want to visit), it's just that the first weekend is the long weekend for me

wait.. when is the liverpool gig? :uhoh:

because plan a could be giving the postcards to someone from their staff at the liverpool gig and plan b going to the bakery

and plan c if you can't give them the postcards.. contact someone from London (a coldplaying member) and then you could give her/him the postcards and then she or he could try to give them the postcards to someone of their staff at the London gig... and if that doesn't work.. going to the bakery

ok... I'm not writing my ideas in a good way.. I'm a bit tired :laugh3:

in my mind, the optimal weekends are the second and third weekends in december (the 13th and 14th and the 20th and the 21st). we know the band is in london for the london concerts the first weekend, and though they are away for the second weekend (in ireland), they finish up the tour as we know it now on 12/23 and will pretty much definitely be going home after that, so at worst the cards sit there in the bakery for a couple days.

i'm of the mind that we deliver them directly on time, and whenever the band sees them is when the band sees them. as long as they see them directly, i don't really care if it takes weeks. all the other alternatives in my mind scare me into thinking that the band won't see the vast majority of them, which really defeats the purpose

Just a suggestion here... Debs probably could set something up with their assistant, Vickie... I think she is still their assistant. And that wouldn't cause any problems. If she is able to set something up... she is a direct contact and Debs probably has her number. :)

I give up - people are dwelling on problems where they hardly exist, over-analysising where there is nothing to analyse.

Deliver me the box of letters on the morning of 12th December, with no prior contact with Debs, crew, anyone, and I will guarantee that box would be in the hands of the band by Monday lunchtime at the latest. Sheesh.

i think it should be the other way around, personally. actually, i don't think gig-drop-offs should even be on the table, but if that's what people vote for then that's what people vote for.

That would work if you don't mind them arriving after Christmas...

Liverpool gig is 7th December.

I could go down in the week between Christmas and New Year as I'm off for two weeks then.

Defo signing off now - I have to go to work in less than 6 hours.

This board is ADDICTIVE!!!

Have a great weekend everyone, PM me when you decide what you want me to do

I'm not meaning at the gig.. but since the band is in the city... the person who will delivery the postcards maybe will be able to give the postcards to someone from the band's staff..

who's vicky.. maybe to her :P

and Kimchi.. we'll keep your post in mind but it'd be better if we have something 100% safe... that's why we are sending the email..

but we'll keep in mind that you live in London and want to help.. because if it works and we manage to get someone to receive the postcards there.. maybe you could be our mailman :P

So we're gonna send the postcards to a coldplaying user that it's gonna give them to the band? :uhoh:

haha, you're definitely right, pete :laugh4:. but in our (basically my own :P) defense, i think it's better to think of everything that could go wrong beforehand rather than being sad later that we made a mistake. i still stand by my worries, even though they are excessive .

thank you for your offer, though! i definitely like that plan if alison can't do it for any reason.

from the bakery thread

Q. Will Coldplay be using The Bakery again to record after the tours? Or will they create a new base since the location of Bakery is now known?

The Oracle replies:

The Bakery is the band's office if you like so they aren't going to move just because someone may have been a super sleuth and found it. It wouldn't be practical to up sticks every time their whereabouts were uncovered. That said, it's their place of work so one would hope people would respect that and realize it's not open to visitors.[/size]

Just posting that to remind everyone that the Bakery is where Coldplay go to work and relax, and I don't think it's appropiate to send personal letters to them there. They have an official fan-mail adress for that reason.

maybe we should add to the letter that we don't want to disturb (is that the right word?).. or something like that... but that since we're really interested in the postcards arriving to them at the same time.. we'd love to find a way to give them the postcards indirectly but in a safe way

Thanks Lore. I'd love to be the Postman if I could, as I wrote long ago, but I can't promise that weekend (because my sister is due to have a baby around then). If the baby is early, or late, then I can try to help of course, but you'll need to ask me much nearer the time.

But that is not why I wrote my post like that! It was sarcastic, because while it is important to plan well and to think of every eventuality, there is TOO much planning here, too much unnecessary over-complication! It's as simple as I wrote!!

Contact Debs asap. Get the project off the ground, and the postcards assembled. get someone positive and headstrong to be the Post(wo)man (and you may have found her already!) and just get things moving!!

hmmmms. that's kind of ironically coincidental, the last part in pink, anyway. i don't know, i don't really feel that the band would mind us putting some letters in the slot and walking away...i don't count that as "disturbing," really. knocking on the door or doing anything more than taking a photo of the outside or putting something in the mailslot, yes, that's disturbing. i just think that letters are harmless, as long as that's the extent of it. i'll definitely add in the letter that we hope they don't mind that we dropped them off at the bakery if that's what we vote to do. i just think they'll be more touched by our notes and our unified effort than anything.

i guess this is sort of why i had the EMI address in mind from the beginning, since we know it both works and is acceptable, but i've so been swayed by everyone else into thinking that the bakery-route is just too potentially perfect to ignore :D.

Worrywarts get things done! :D

Okay, I definitely need to leave until I get my English essay done, or at least make some significant progress... :wreck:

I agree :D

(btw I said disturbing because I don't know any other word in english that meant what I wanted to say :P )

should I send the mail now?

Send it!!!!

We'll just emphasize that we understand it's their office and private space, and we don't plan to disturb them, we just want to give this gift to the band. It's not like we're staking out the place and going all Beatlemania on their asses :P

seeeeeend it lore!! :D

(as long as you think that it says everything we need to say...i feel weird about people saying everything i've written is great with not many other things to add--i want this to be as collaborative as possible!)
