Postcards From Far Away project | Previous pre-delivery discussion (thread closed)

I still think we'll need help from some insider. Actually I think our delivery will be more secure if we have it. I might be crazy but I'm afraid that if we just leave them in the bakery's postbox they could never reach the band. After reading your posts I agree that a gig might not be the best place to deliver it, but I believe we could handle another place...

And again I don't think Debs will ever give us any special address (unless she gives it only to one person who would never ever share it with anyone else) because she wouldn't want the band to be bothered with tons of fan mail apart from the project :(

Cobaltidea:

How about we put our usernames/names in the top right hand corner or something of the sort? For example with me it would be Cobalt/Emma, etc etc

Im starting to worry whether this will go through at all. But hopefully it will, we just need some comformation and we can start to get hard core....

I don't wanna a cycle of recycled revenge...

Also about organizational issues, I think we all know that we'll have to organize someone to receive all the postcards preferably in the UK. Done. We need to focus our efforts on how to get them to the boys.

1) The fanmail address I think is a no-no. It can take up to a year for them to see it from there (see threads from recent times).

2) We *could* ask Debs for help... but I think this should be left for a last option. At the moment it would be better to ask if she would help, to keep our options open.

3) Posting to the Bakery might be risky, so I propose someone maybe could send them something within the next few days and if we don't hear back within the month then we close this option. They are in the UK, yes, but I'm not sure they'll be in The Bakery that often after the Prospekt's March details were finished.

4) We can't really deliver them to the Bistro because then the Bistro might get suspicious and after all The Bakery is supposed to be their secret hidey place. Same with any neighbors. They might forget too.

Having that settled... why don't we vote on our options? Does anyone want to add before we do, though? 'Cuz I don't really want to leave any of them out XD

Also Miss Lorywory may need to update her first post with an answer to the first discussion topic (a)

Just to let you know guys, I've one some research in to setting up a PO Box and it looks v. straight forward.

I've PM'd Lore to say I'm happy to do it, and collect all the postcards for us.

We could send them all to the Bistro and ask them to please bring these to your neighbors. :laugh3:

I can see it now.....

*knock knock* Could you PLEASE ask your damn fans to stop sending postcards to our bistro....*throws cards at Chris when he answers the door*

*tooo friggin hilarious, Angie!**:lol::lol::lol:

Guess i just awoke from some coma-like state, but I missed this thread altogether till now.....COUNT ME IN! Amazing idea....

*methinks...*, ...that we should be more optimistic about neighbours of the Bakery, ie....the Day Morris real estate agents next door, who , seemed friendly and accomodating to the recent coldplayers that visited the bakery in person....(see I FOUND THE BAKERY THREAD)

thought#2......it will be easy to get the EXACT mailing address for the bakery...just google the address for Day Morris agency, and there it is, hell, use the listed phone # and ask them "so if you are at 2 Fleet St. then the bakery next door would be ? Fleet St. ?"...

i know/ i`m simple in thought here- it`s 2:45 am gimme a break.:P

I love this idea though, and applaud all the effort on everyone`s behalf to the idea`s founders......:kiss::kiss::kiss: thanks to you all. Just another example of the ding dang fabulousness of Coldplayers worldwide.

I'm already excited and we're still in planning status...

This is just SUCH a GREAT idea. Full stop!!

I think the PO Box is the best solution.

I don't have payPal but I hope with the help of another German coldplayer who has payPal I can pay my part of the costs.

Concerning the delivery: I really don't think it would be good to hand them over during a gig. I fear that the postcards -no matter how many there will be- could go lost in the whirlpool of events (if that is the correct expression). I guess there's so much hectic behind the stage and everybody has his tasks and time schedule that they won't be appreciated as much as they deserve.

Asking for help or advice from Debs is the best option to me.

So let's settle for a design template (project identification sign etc) as fast as possible, so we can already prepare our cards and when the "Go" comes - we just have to add the address and put them into the mailbox!

And thanks RedGirl for volunteering to settle a PO box!

Love, Anna

I'll post a more complete post later... now I don't really have time

anyway :P

I think that we'll be a bit stuck about deciding the delivering method until we contact Debs or someone from their staff... Chelsea wrote an email with all the important points so I think we'll send it soon (1 or 2 days from now)

I'll post later.. now I'm going to uni

bye :P

I liked the 2nd postcard design so i'll use it and paste it to the back of postcard with a locar picture, or maybe with a picture i took at Madrid's concert.

Thx for designs!

I'm prepared to send it wherever you decide guys!

I have voted :)

And this PO BOX idea is just freaking cool:) I am ready to donate from PayPal, I just created an account not long ago after purchasing the Chris bracelets LOL, so dunno how it works but I am in.

And the surprise to the guys thing would be the best

I agree. I think we should stop obsessing over all the different delivery possibilities until the email is sent.... We've gotten as far as we can for the moment, I think.

I'm really not crazy about sending them individually to the Bakery if we figure out the address. If Debs somehow gives it to us and they're expecting the letters, that's one thing. But otherwise, it'd be kind of crazy

Just so you know.....

BlissfullyMuse recently visited the Bakery and left the guys a note.........

and yes..... aparently right next to the glass door THERE IS a mailslot

DSC00035.jpg

well, that picture of the mailslot is perfect!

i've figured out a new problem, though: when i was there, that whole glass door was covered by a garage door, and the mailslot (which i now recall seeing after being reminded of its location) was boarded up. of course, at the time the guys weren't even in the country (in fact, they were playing my homestate of CT ), but i'm wondering if the guys or someone ACTUALLY need to BE IN the building for the mailslot to be available to use. it seems as though in all other photos i've seen of the bakery besides blissfullymuse's, it's been closed up. this worries me a bit.

on the bright side, i just zoomed in on a bakery photo of mine, and THERE'S A HOUSE NUMBER ON THE BUILDING. it's 4a

I'd like to take part, but Cheshire isn't exactly far away from london!

Actually out of all the people that has visited the Bakery <and has posted pics on the thread> there's only one person that found the garage door down.

Plus i have to say that i seriously doubt that the garage door covers the mailslot, considering that the width of it is equall to the glass door, and the mailslot is on the wall, not the door. ;)

Jeez we have an address!!!!!!!!!

I think soem former visitors of the Bakery talked about putting letters in the mailslot and I think then the garage door was down... not sure

yeah, the garage door doesn't cover the mailslot, but the mailslot itself had a cover over it when i was there. at the very least, it didn't look like it does in blissfullymuse's photo, and it *looked* blocked, but i also didn't check.

here's a picture i took when i was there (big under the spoiler so you can see what i'm talking about....look to the left of the garage door, and there's the potentially blocked mailslot and the number 4a...hard to see in this pic, but when you zoom in, to me it looks like there's something nailed over the slot)

that is a good point. someone that's been there probably left something in there when it looked like that, since they've been away for so long. it's just that it didn't look possible to put anything in it when i was there, so that's why i worry :P

i feel like perhaps testing the bakery address myself this weekend or something. then again, it would probably be useless considering i almost definitely wouldn't get a reply, and even if i did, it wouldn't be in time.

Pete will be there this weekend if I am correct and I think if we ask him to check on it he will be more than happy to investigate the mailslot

*wondering whose car might that be there on the pic*

Ok, now i get your point, i hadn't noticed that thing covering the mailslot on other pics.

However i did a little searching in the Bakery thread and it turns out that the girl that was there when the garage door was down, threw a note through the mailslot, even though it looks like it has the same cover thingy that can be seen in your pics......

Here's the story and pics she posted http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2562096&postcount=450

Well what are the chances that the garage door would be down/the mailslotwould be blocked when we delivered? If we timed it for when they're playing in London, then chances are the Bakery would be in use by somebody... I don't know, I could be completely wrong.

not a bad idea:)

i think the garage door thing is open when someone's INSIDE, but that's just me guessing.

i really have to go, but with some google and map searching, i've basically almost definitely confirmed an exact bakery address!
