So CUTE!

Although it does have the Gwyneth issue, so methinks will be a no-no, but CUTE! :cheesy:

how to they choose the top 5?

it better not be by the youtube rating cos well most have like 2 stars....

The Coldplay.com team (most likely Debs, Phil, Miller, etc) decide on 5 top entries on December 1st, and then these videos are given to Chris, Guy, Will and Jonny to decide the best one. The winner is announced on December 5th.

t better not be by the youtube rating cos well most have like 2 stars....

It can't be done that way because the comp ends on december 1st and then the winners are picked by december 5th, its unfair to late entries if it goes on ratings and such :nice:.

Of course they can´t, at least they shouldn´t choose the top 5 based on the ratings, in first place because the last ones hadn´t the same opportunitys but the main reason is that there is somebody out there rating all competition videos with 1 star rate!!!!It´s crazy but it´s truth so I hope the coldplay.com team have this issue in consideration.

Local filmmaker makes music video for Coldplay contest

Wearing soldier's garb and wielding a replica musket as he trudged through snow Saturday in the countryside, Matthew Gross was one of dozens of movie extras re-enacting the turmoil of the French Revolution for a music video.

Skies were fittingly overcast for the recreation of the social and political upheaval of the late 18th century, which pitted the dying monarchy's army against poor peasants suffering horrendous repression.

"It kind of adds to the atmosphere. It's perfect -- if slightly chilly," the Guelph Little Theatre actor said as he huddled with others to stay warm amid sub-zero temperatures.

He was one of more than 40 extras who volunteered to be part of a Guelph director's entry for a music video contest. It features the band Coldplay's third single from their album Viva la Vida, whose cover has a revolutionary theme.

Despite the weather, Gross said he wouldn't have missed it for the world.

"I just thought it would be an amazing opportunity," said Gross.

Gross wanted to support the independent film effort by production company Black Fawn Films and its Guelph director, Martin Buzora.

Though she'd never tried acting before, Lisa Gartner, 17, said she's a big fan of Coldplay. She played a torch bearer for a group of peasants clashing with soldiers as the sun faded.

"I play guitar myself, so I really appreciate what they do with the music," she said.

Black Fawn Films was shooting Saturday in a Capital Paving gravel pit on Country Road 34 to enter Coldplay's contest to produce a video for the song "Lost!"

The local production company is planning to shoot additional footage to compile into a short film for future film festivals.

Saturday's shooting starred veteran Toronto stage actor Petter Higginson.

"It's a plum opportunity in a way," Higginson said, seeing it as a change from the supporting roles he's played in the past.

In the approximately five-minute video, he plays an elderly, once-great thespian escaping his deathbed by imagining great acting performances, including a scene from the French revolution.

The winner of the Dec. 5 contest will land a trip to Britain to see Coldplay perform in concert, but that's not what's driving the director.

"It's a great chance for guys like me, independent film-makers, to show what they do," said Buzora, a director, editor and cinematographer who operates Black Fawn Films with partner Chad Archibald.

Buzora has worked previously on the films Kill and Psycho Ward, as well as Speed Dating, a short.

The new project, inspired by the Coldplay album cover, tests his abilities, he said. It has a bare-bones budget, volunteer actors and rented and loaned equipment. It requires shooting outdoors under adverse weather conditions, like Saturday evening's snow.

"I made the project hard on myself," he said.

Buzora works with a crew of almost a dozen people, including wardrobe assistant Adrienne Baker and behind-the-scenes aide Reese Eveneshen.

His mother, Sophie Buzora, made the period costumes.

Sounds like he just wants something to boast about... not the tickets, it is a FAN contest :dozey:

Indeed. Also, if the video is solely about Revolutionary France, haven't they've rather overlooked the meaning of the song "Lost?"

I think their efforts would be better directed at a video for the song Viva La Vida!

Does anyone know if the new entries uploaded since Saturday are going to be reviewed/ added to Coldplay's favourites? It's been stuck @ 201 since Saturday.

There seems to be quite a few peeps peeved at the mo, that nothing has been reviewed/ added since Saturday:

- is the roadie reviewer sick?

- is the roadie reviewer sick of reveiwing videos

- has Coldplay's email server crashed under the weight of entries this last Saturday?

- Is Chris Martin sick of listening to to Lost? over and over?

Here is my entry:

Three observations:

- Aren't bathrooms/ ensuites in America absolutely fabulous? I love your counter-sunk sinks , full length mirrors and marble counters. America may be broke but it still leads the way in ensuite bathrooms! :)

- The actor is very handsome, not sure I understand the narattive though

- You're lucky to be blessed with such an arid climate where you live!. If you trudged through a field in November wearing a suit in the UK, you'd look like you just been in WW1!
