I keep thinking about the Pet Shop Boys, and Billy Idol.. But then there's Dire Straits! U2 of course, & Devo were funny! God, guys with upside-down flower pots on their heads - that takes the cake!:laugh3: And what about Blondie? Madonna? AC/DC? Springsteen? Billy Joel? So many, it's hard to recall them all!:P

Call me unqualified, but im too busy exploring the 90's (as a period I didnt live though musically) to move down to the 80's just yet.

 

But heres some ideas.

 

New Years Day - U2 (I dont think the Joshua Tree is their best album, i dunno. War does more for me. Every song on war is brilliant, its too bad theres only 6 of them. I guess the Joshua Tree is the better album tho, just I prefer to listen to war.

 

Anyhow...

 

R.E.M were consistantly great though the 80's and Pink Floyd had a few moments of greatness, alongside a few momentary lapses of mediocrety (see what I did there)

A personal favorate of the 80's.

 

Joy Division were another band in that decade. Ian Kurtis (the singer) moped his way though a lot of hits over 2 albums. Not sure what I make of the singing (or lack of)

Im gunna omit the Smiths because I know nothing about them (but i will pick up something by them soon)

 

Then the Stone Roses, hailed by some to be one of the best british bands ever, I dissagree, they only made 2 albums, and most bands have at least 2 great albums behind them. Great band tho, if you don't go and see them live.

yup it was. I thought the Hollywood Tonight Mix was pretty hot.

War is definitely a brilliant album. I love love loved getting the Red Rocks dvd and seeing those old War songs live.

The song has a unlining tone of deep sadness, like most of U2 best songs...if you haven't noticed already: One, Love is Blindness...everything on Achtung Baby actually
