20's Crisis

Featured Replies

Anyone who's experiencing/ever experienced it?

I'm about to be 20 in January... and well, to be honest I'm quite worried and I don't know what to do and how I'm supposed to act from that time. I still feel like a kid...

And there's so much things I would like to do... and I'm afraid my time is getting shorter and shorter!

Okay, maybe I'm overreacting with this, but I just feel like it... It's like a mental thing to get in your 20's. I heard someone saying that from the time your get 20, life goes by soo fast and then you're 30. :stunned:

Any stories, comments/ advices?

I'm 21...

when I was 19, I didn't really want to turn 20... I also felt like a kid.. I still do :P

but it's not about the actual age I think... it's more about the mental age

My best friend has a phobia of zero's. She freaked out right before she turned 30, 20 and according to her Mother, she was even worried about turning 10.

Age ain't nothin' but a number!

No one expects you to have all the answers by the time your 20 - I'm 32, and I still have a lot of unanswered questions!

Enjoy your birthday, enjoy your youth, and just let life happen...

Thank you. This is the right idea.

I'm just soo scared about the idea to get older and then realise I didn't do all the things I wanted to do when I was younger, the right time to enjoy them...

I turned 20 on a really bad day. So it didn't really matter haha

Any stories, comments/ advices?
Yep, been there done that, bought the t-shirt. (I'm 26 now.) But my 20s have turned out to be fantastic- all the benefits of being a teenager without all the angst or rules. I was too old for my age as a kid... now everyone thinks I'm about 3 or 4 years younger than I really am. And no, I still have no idea how I'm "supposed" to act or what to do with my life. And I like it that way. People who think they do have a habit of changing their mind or getting blown off course.

Yep, even in my 30's there are times I feel like a kid - and Space Cadet is right, your 20's are all about freedom. It's your time to just go out there and have fun!

Oooh, I know ! I fear it too :bigcry: I REALLY freaked out the other day when my cousin told me that we were about to turn 20. It's an awful number ! yeah, you guys are right, is just a number and who you are doesnt have anything to do with it.. but still..

I can understand how you feel.

I had similar thoughts when I turned 20.

"I'm considered as an adult now. No more "Teens" but "Twens" - Help! I didn't do anything!" :D

So much is changing - finishing school, beginning new chapters etc.

But I can tell you that it's a normal thing!

I'll be 25 in January, that's "scary" to me in the way, that there's not a big difference between 20 and now.

People expect me to finish my studies now, older people ask about when I want to have a child! And I don't even have a boyfriend at the moment :)

Friends start getting pregnant - that is scary to me but actually the normal time.

My advice is: See it like RedGirl! Enjoy it!

People start to take you more seriously (your parents as well!!).

You're not late for ANYTHING!

This time is just beginning.

And I can tell you that the next number in age is always scary... At least to me.

See it this way: in a year you can rent a car when you're on holidays!

(At least it's this way here.)

My 20th birthday is this Sunday!!! It's really weird that I won't be a teenager anymore... hahaha. I have to admit, although I have a pretty good idea of what will be happening for the rest of my life, that's the thing that scares me the most. Like, I definitely still feel like a kid, and the fact that I know what I want to do with the rest of my life (and it's not even that far away!) is really, really weird.

Hopefully my 20s will be okay though... I'll graduate, hopefully I will be able to find a job as a teacher, and live on my own! Well that's the plan at least... I'm just freaked out about the fact that I have a plan! :P

Hey i'm turning 25 in january as well!!!!! :nice:

But i guess age hasn't really been an issue for me......

As is been mentioned, if anything your 20's are that age when for some reason you feel free to do anything you want.

Somehow, you start getting a better sense of self and you really get to know who you are and what you're capable of...... or at least that's what i noticed........

But forget about all the 'Now you gotta be responsable, cause now you're an adult' kind of crap....... i'm still the same silly person i've always been <and proud of it>, but somehow now i'm more confident about it ;)

Enjoy your 20's, you'll love it!!!!! :D

about the personal crisis thing my dad told me that a person gets in crisis each 7 years so... feel in crisis when you'll be 20 wouldn't be that strange.

i think that this crisis comes from what you think people expects you to do from now on and what you feel like doing now... you'll have to try to find a middle point between both things i think :)

i feel childish at times too and i am 22, others i feel i am so old already :uhoh:

but most of the time i don't care about that as for my age i am able to do and feel both thing, i am older for some people and younger for others so, i don't mind too much, i like how i am and that's what matters Carlos.

hope it had helped you a bit. ;)

i can't fricking wait to turn 20. seriously. i've been looking forward to it for at least 10 years.

i've always been really old for my age, sometimes painfully so, and i feel like telling someone "i'm 20" means something very different than telling someone "i'm 19," even though it just is a number. i'm so fricking tired of being a teenager in number. i really don't like most teenagers, so i don't like being one.

most of my friends wonder why i want to turn 20 rather than 21, because 21 is the age you can drink in america. that means nothing to me; i'm basically a complete tee-totaler anyway. i don't care about drinking, i care about being taken more seriously.

i get to turn 20 in england :wacky:. that means so much to me :D

:laugh3:...6 years to go for me! ;)

I got married when I was 20. I'm 46 now, with a 19 1/2 year old daughter and a son who will be 15 in two weeks. Where did the time go? I swear I was in High School yesterday.

Enjoy your 20s. "Real" life happens before you know it and you can't go back again. *sigh*

I'm 20. I had an interview with a careers adviser at uni today. I'm now rather depressed and a bit meh about being 20. I'm 21 in February.

Yep 6 years left for me, just like Simon :D

Not much to worry about.
