Coldplay shape as hot March act for Brisbane

WARM up ... a firm date for Coldplay's Brisbane performance is yet to be locked in.

COLDPLAY, the band that moved more units than anyone else in the world this year, looks set to perform before screaming Brisbane fans next March.

No concrete dates yet for the River City, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and Ticketek tell us, but Chris Martin & Co. are locked in for Melbourne on March 2 and Sydney on March 11. This comes hot on the heels of an announcement from another of the globe's top draws in rock, long-haired preacher's sons Kings of Leon, who will also play Boondall in March.

Pundits are describing Coldplay's upcoming EP Prospekts March as "musically adventurous", even featuring a cameo from rap mogul and Barack Obama supporter Jay-Z.

At any rate, a night with the 'Play will command a premium over a night with the Kings, who have limited their tickets to about $92 a pop.

Mr Martin's crew is expected to pull up to $145 for the best seats and a shade under $100 for the nosebleeders.

From what I have heard so far.........

Perth - Burswood Dome - Thursday 12th February 2009

Melbourne - Rod Laver Arena - Monday March 2 and Tuesday March 3 2009

Sydney - Acer Arena - Wednesday March 11 and Thursday March 12 2009

You'd expect Adelaide and Brisbane dates to fall in between the Perth and Melbourne concerts. Here's hopin anyway!

Hm. So

Melbourne - March 2&3

Sydney - March 11&12

I doubt the Perth date. Because Coldplay are due to play in Japan (Osaka I think) on the 14th. I'm guessing Adelaide will be put in the Melbourne/Sydney dates, maybe even a Tasmania date as there's likely to be 2 city dates put in there and MAYBE a Newcastle date just before Sydney. Then Brisbane, then Perth and possibly Darwin.

i might almost be able to convince my boss to give me that Thursday off on march 12th...here's hoping *crosses fingers* ...why do big bands always play during the week, is it cheaper or something???

YAY!! i've been waiting since the album came out on dates when they would tour down here!

and my birthday's in March so that would be awesome!!!!

Wow, $145 is alot of money, I seem to remember paying $80 or $90 when I saw them In Sydney in 2006. Anyway, happy for all you aussies!

C'mon Adelaide dates!

I paid $120 last time and I was front row. So I wonder if it'll really be $145 this time around. It is a more expensive show and with all the shiz goin on atm, I wouldn't be surprised.

there are lots of rumors about a latin american tour in march too.. so maybe they'll do a australia/asia/latin amercian tour leg

I can't wait to see the Latin American Tour Dates on Coldplay.com

if they going to Australia, next??? South America :dance:

before Radiohead!!! such amazing March

Well, if concert is to be on a weekday, that i WILL have to have a day off :)))... Anyways, you can always call sick.. Probably gonna get the best seats!! Im longing to see Coldplay soo..:p

omg...i'm planning to go to both nights...so $300?!!

that's A LOT..
