For once, Grammy nominations is spot-on for the year! :shocked2:

Coldplay better win most of their nominations. Proper recognition, mmkay? :D

((For some of the categories, should they be overlooked...grr... at least there will be another artist i'll like that gets the award. However at the moment, I'm torn within Album of the Year! Coldplay vs. Robert Plant & Alison Krauss vs. Radiohead....:wreck::P ))

*gasp" How dare they put the Jonas Brothers and Coldplay in the same sentence?! :P

Coldplay, JoBros, Lil Wayne Up for Grammy Glory

Coldplay, the Jonas Brothers and Lil Wayne go together like, well, Grammy nominees, of course.

The acts all scored top nominations tonight for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards.

Coldplay and Lil Wayne notched Album of the Year nods for Viva La Vida and Tha Carter III, respectively. Ne-Yo (Year of the Gentleman) and fun-music couple Alison Krauss and Robert Plant (Raising Sand) also were nominated. Radiohead rounded out the category with a nod for In Rainbows, thus potentially causing Grammy-scoring headaches for people who think Radiohead is Coldplay or vice versa.

Lil Wayne led all artists with eight nominations. Coldplay scored seven. And not that Kanye West pays attention to such things, but he did well to pick up six, as did Ne-Yo and Jay-Z.

The Jonas Brothers made their mark in the Best New Artist category.

Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas will vie for the honor against U.K. singer-songwriters Adele and Duffy, Philadelphia-born R&B star Jazmine Sullivan, and the country group Lady Antebellum.

In the Record of the Year category, Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" will take on Coldplay's "Viva La Vida," Adele's "Chasing Pavements," M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" and Plant and Krauss' "Please Read the Letter."

Adele's and Coldplay's signature hits from the past year are also up for Song of the Year, a prize for songwriters. Also nominated there: West's "American Boy," Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" and Sara Bareilles' "Love Song."

Nominations were announced during a first-ever "nominations concert" held in Los Angeles and aired live in some times zones on CBS.

The 51st Annual Grammy Awards are set for Feb. 8.

I wonder if we'll see "new outfits" since it will be 2009 when this happens.

Man, Feb. seems so far away right now.

I think performers for the Grammys usually play "The Big Hit"

I think more people are going to consider that the is the case for VLV.

I would honestly prefer Violet Hill as well, considering that's getting nominated as well. I just think it's going to be VLV.

Yep, the big hits are normally the songs that get performed at the Grammys. I wouldn't mind VLV because I really like that song. But, I really would love to hear them perform Lost. I think that song would really rock out the Staples Center with the drum beats and all. I say get that place rocking. LOL!!

Perhaps if they perform Lost then the results will be the opposite of the song title? Instead of losing they'll win all the awards.

Either way...I want/demand the butterflies to roam freely.

They're performing Viva La Vida. Maybe Lovers In Japan if it catches on...but they won't do anything too random, honestly.

Maybe Viva accompanied with a string quartet?

Ode to Deodorant would totally work with butterflies... ;)

EDIT: I think we're getting ahead of ourselves, we don't even know if they're performing at all!

Yeah, but as tracylynn pointed out, it's right before Japan, so we can't know for sure... :\

Okay I'm pretty much positive that they'll take record of the year, song of the year, best rock album, and best pop performance (which would be huge). But I'm uneasy about the spots they're matched up against radiohead. I'm surprised that in rainbows was nominated as it was released over a year ago, but I have a feeling that radiohead might take album of the year.

As for Violet Hill vs. House of Cards, it's close but I think coldplay has the advantage there, it's gonna be vewwy vewwy intewesting though...

Good point but still i mean thats just wrong!....There gonna get even bigger egos

Lil Wayne topped out at 8 nominations, Coldplay was next with 7.

I like that idea of the stringed accompaniment for VLV...maybe a little interlude before the big chant section. I just want the butterflies, lol.

It's for Best New Artist. But as I stated in the other Grammy thread, there is a "curse" on that award. It seems that many of the Best New Artist winners, not all though, tend to disappear from the music scene not long after they win it. I think many folks will tell that they would rather not win that award because of that curse. If you take a look at the list of winners, many of the artists are not around anymore, don't have their music played on the radio or TV, and so on. So, I want the Jonas Bros to win it so that they can be hit with "the curse".

Man, I feel like I should be talking about something else when I say, "the curse." LOL!

Since Gwyneth is nominated also maybe they will walk the red carpet together:thinking:

gwyneth

Well, just means the anti-Chrissy/Gwyn tabloids will be able to shut up for once if they sit near each other

Eh, I'll believe it when I see it :dozey:

It would be exciting if they both won, though, wouldn't it? :)

¬¬

Who is Lil Wayne?

is a band or a girl? or a boy?

:O

I really don't know

He is a rapper. He was the one who knocked Coldplay from the #1 album sales slot in the US.

I doubt Gwyneth will go to the ceremony!........But if for some miracle she does they will not appear together or even sit together!

Hah. I don't think that they'll walk the red carpet together... although I'm not sure about the seating. Gwyn might be allocated with the Iron Man table and the boys on the Coldplay table (they'd get their own table you'd think by now).
