Oh My, 7 nominees is awesome :D! I'm so proud of them! I'll be rooting as well for them!

But JB suing them is just weird in my opinion, if you're in this so called "buisness" you can't expect that every single song, melody or lyrics is going to be different.

Wow, 2000!

It's interesting to see that Coldplay is the only pop/rock artist to receive a lot of nominations. The top nominees are in the Rap/R&B categories (Lil' Wayne - 8, Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Ne-Yo each have 6). I think that shows the sad state of American music especially when it comes to groups.

3 noms only for x&y was it? How many for AROBBTH and Para? Nominations?

Coldplays chances of winning are pretty good imo, because the winners get voted by a jury or? Its not a peoples choice award as far as I know.

They get voted on by members of the Recording Academy, and I think Coldplay is a member of the Recording Academy so they can vote for themselves. LOL!! To be a member of the Recording Academy one has to have credit on 6 commercially released tracks and Coldplay qualifies. Members can be musicians, artists who deisgned the CD covers, producers, composers, recording engineers, arrangers, music video artists, and so on. So, it's a large group of people voting on this.

Huh, I never knew that. I always thought it was a smaller panel of voters...

I have to say, i listened to parts of in Rainbows, and it didn't move me at all. Music is about emotions. COldplay captures those. They deserve best album, hands down.

Actually, it is smaller because the voters can only vote for the top 4 categories (Record, Song, Album, and New Artist) and 8 other categories of their choice. Though there are a lot of members, with the exception of the top 4 categories, only a small portion is voting for the other categories so that means some categories will have more vote than other categories.

I agree that music is about emotion and Coldplay captures those emotions. However, I have been reading a lot of positive comments on the Robert Plant/Allison Kraus CD which concerns me because the Grammys, at times, tend to reward in cycles. I haven't listen to that CD but so many people think it's the best, probably even better than Radiohead's CD. I want VLV to win Best Album because it is the best but I am concern about all the things I am hearing concerning the other nominees.

If music was solely judged on emotion, emo bands would take every category...and it's not particularly convincing to hear that you can evaluate an album by quickly listening to "parts" and judging how much those few parts "moved you" in that instance.

Grammy countdown

I just realized that we have 28 days until the Grammys. Since it is getting close announcements about who will be performing will be coming out shortly. One announcement has been made concerning performing at the Grammys and that is Katy Perry. She is this year's My Grammy Moment artist. People can upload a video of them singing her song I Kissed A Girl and the most popular videos will be aired during the Grammys while she sings. Personally, I think another artist, such as Coldplay, deserves the My Grammy Moment spotlight instead of Katy Perry. I can't stand her.

Anyway, news concerning the Grammys and Coldplay should be coming out. We need to start counting down the days until that magical night. Hopefully, they don't get screwed because of the crap with Joe Satriani.

yah your're right, dont like katy perry either. she had, what, ONE popular song? damn. but yah, with 7 nominations, coldplay BETTER get some! joe satriani can go to hell

yeah, i'm sure coldplay will perform!! they have SEVEN nominations!!! 7!!!!! that's the second most! it only makes sense for them and lil wayne to perform. personally, i don't like lil wayne but he does have 8 nominations so i think he deserves to perform. Coldplay has to perform!! Besides look at all of the success they've had this year and try to deny them a grammy performance. And they better win all 7!! They're the only ones who deserve it. If they get screwed like they did at the AMA's then something is seriously wrong with the music industry. And screw joe satriani!! no one likes him anyway. people say he's such a big deal in the US. honestly, i've lived in the US my entire life and NEVER heard of him until he sued coldplay.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't these award shows usually have all of the nominees of the most important category perform? Like they have each perform throughout the show and then the very last award they announce the winner of that category? If so, Coldplay is definitely going to perform because they are nominated in ALL of the most important categories (Record/Album/Song of the year). If not, then I would think the Grammy people would beg them to perform anyway because of their seven nominations and, of course, because they are the biggest and best band.

Normally, the most important category is Album of the Year and that is announced at the very end of the show, but yeah, I can see them performing. I am not entirely sure all the nominees from the most important category perform but they might. It really depends on how the Grammys are set up because it can vary from year to year.

The only reason why I mentioned Joe is because he's lawsuit could hurt them in the Record and Song of the Year categories. Hopefully, the voters ignored that stuff and just look at the quality of the song when they vote. But, you can never tell with voters.

Also, a list of presenters should also start coming out.

I understand if they don't get Record of the Year due to the pending lawsuit, but Song of the Year? Chris wrote the song! The lyrics are amazing.

I'm not sure they'll win Album of the Year. It would go to Radiohead or to those two veteran artists who made an album together.

ok i know this would NEVER happen, but when you mentioned the list of presenters, the thought popped into my head, how cute would it be if chris and gywenth presented something together?? that's totally impossible but it would be cute. actually it'd be great too if chris and jonny presented something....but i also doubt that will happen

true, but coldplay have been a band for ten years. and look how far they've come?

besides that shouldn't really matter. And their album is fucking amazing! They absolutely should win!!

You forgot the rest of the band. They wrote that song too. :)

As for presenters....actually the whole band could present together. They've asked groups to present especially if there are only 4 members in the group. Now, that would be so cute.

oh my gosh same here! i had never heard of that fag until he tried to screw the best band in the world over!

but about coldplay performing, will they really fly all the way to America for the grammys? cuz i mean their tour and stuff is in the UK so it would be a bit inconvenient. although i hope they do come cuz then they could perform and we would get to see them make acceptance speeches and such! that would be awesome!

Well, they're heading this way because a few days after the Grammys they will be in Japan for some concert dates.

I am pretty confident that they'll perform but I don't know what song they will do.
