CBS? crap. i hope desperate housewives isn't on that night. or i'll just make her watch it online.

haha well just explain to her that it's THE GRAMMYS! they only come around once a year, and it's BIG cuz your favorite band (hopefully they're your favorite  ;)) are up for SEVEN nominations and will be PERFORMING.

she can watch that show which comes on WEEKLY, later.

I Kinda hope they don't play VLV because it always seems like Chris is either nervous or just not on top of his game when they play it on the American TV shows. Although im all for it if he can pull it off. We all know its going to be either:

1. VLV

2. LIJ

3. Lost!

And a slight chance for.. LITii ? That would be kick ass!

I kind of think that they'll win 2-3 and perform Viva La Vida.

Wish they'd get all 7 and perform something really cool...but... it's more realistic. I just hope they win one of the major categories (pulling for album of the year!) I don't think they'll get totally snubbed like India.Arie, but I'm trying to keep things logical.

GOSH i really hope they dont play one of those three! :( it's all they ever play for one-song performances. i think violet hill would be great b/c they're up for an award for that one, they havent played it in a while, its pretty popular so people would like it, and i love that one too! but any other one would be fine too!

Sometimes networks are smart and purposely won't pit a new episode of a high-rated show opposite a big awards show. But not all the time.

I'd really like to hear LITii, although the chances of Viva being played aren't exactly slim due to it being the Best Song and Best Record nominee.

Coldplay deserve to win every award in my opinion. That have done so much great work for VLV and deserve it more than anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait! I'm going to scream everytime i see them! I HOPE THEY WIN ALL 7!

They should play Violet Hill... That song sounds amazing live, too bad they just don't play it that much.

True, but the ratings for the Grammys have been low for the past few years so a lot of these networks know they can beat the Grammys by airing a new episode.

As for the song, well, I wouldn't be surprised if they did sing VLV. The reason why is because that song is nominated for both Record and Song of the Year, it is one of the most commercial known songs nominated that a lot of people (music lovers and non-music lovers) are familiar, and it's a song that stood out the past year. The only thing that could prevent them from singing it is the lawsuit over the song.

I would love to hear Lost or LIJ. If they do Lost I would not be surprised if Jay-Z performs with them.

if they perform, i think it'll be LITii as it's the current single, but i feel like we would have heard by now if they were going to perform. but i hope i'm wrong :D

The announcement of the performers will start coming out probably next week. They announcements will come out one at a time (one performer per announcement), or they could wait two more weeks and make an announcement of all the performers.

Yeah maybe.

Chris's voice might be a little shakey on that one though.

Note to self:

Never ever EVER get on Chelsea's bad side......... :stunned:

oh my gosh same here! i had never heard of that fag until he tried to screw the best band in the world over!

but about coldplay performing, will they really fly all the way to America for the grammys? cuz i mean their tour and stuff is in the UK so it would be a bit inconvenient. although i hope they do come cuz then they could perform and we would get to see them make acceptance speeches and such! that would be awesome!

yeah they should, not to sound repetitive but they have SEVEN nominations!!!!!!

It's the second most, there's no way they're missing this, or no way that we're letting them miss it!:P

Coldplay Rumoured to Feature in Grammy Advertising Campaign

The 51st Annual Grammy Awards take place on February 8 in Los Angeles and Radiohead's Thom Yorke is fronting a new advertisement campaign to promote this year's Grammy Awards, NME is reporting today.

Yorke, along with other stars including Stevie Wonder, Rihanna and Lenny Kravitz, is appearing on posters and in TV adverts in the run up to the ceremony, which takes place in February. Coldplay and Kanye West are also rumoured to be featured in the campaign.

Radiohead's 'In Rainbows' is nominated in the Album Of The Year category, alongside Coldplay ('Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends'), Robert Plant & Alison Krauss ('Raising Sand'), Ne-Yo ('Year Of The Gentleman') and Lil' Wayne ('Tha Carter III').

Although Yorke's TV advert is yet to air, his poster has been made public. It features a mock-up of the Radiohead singer's face, shaped out of text featuring the names and lyrics of some of his favourite songs, albums and artists. A Grammy spokeswoman said that each musician taking part in the campaign was asked to name between 10 and 20 of their favourite artists. These names then formed the basis of the posters and TV adverts. Among the artists chosen by Yorke are Liars and Scott Walker.

The advertising campaign is rumoured to be the biggest in the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences history, reports LA Times. It comes a year after the Grammys suffered their lowest TV ratings since 1992.

Coldplay, Lil Wayne and the Jonas Brothers are among this year's Grammy performers, as confirmed by a Grammy spokesperson to Spinner. The full lineup is expected to be announced on Wednesday.

Weezy leads the nominations with eight, which include Album of the Year for 'Tha Carter III,' and entries in every rap category. Chris Martin and Co. follow with seven, and their 'Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends' will battle it out with Mr. Wayne for Album of the Year. Meanwhile, the Jonas Brothers are up for Best New Artist, and their performance will likely mark the point in the broadcast when anyone over the age of 15 takes a snack break.

Or not. We don't judge.

The 51st Grammy Awards air February 8th on CBS.

ah, it figures. but YAY

i hope they play LITii. based on performances of it that they did on UK TV, it sounds like they pull it off better than the others they could do. then again, i think it's the celebrities and stuff in the audience that gets chris all scared. i just hope they up the bar on this one a bit.

Lil Wayne, Coldplay, JoBros confirmed for Grammy Awards

coldplay_lat_500.jpg

Lil Wayne, Coldplay and the Jonas Brothers are confirmed to perform at the Feb. 8 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. The three will join the previously announced Katy Perry.

Lil Wayne and Coldplay are competing for album of the year, and the Jonas Brothers are in the running for best new artist. Both Coldplay and Lil Wayne are part of this year's Grammy ad campaign, and it's the norm for all artists nominated for album of the year to perform on the live telecast. Others nominated for album of the year include Radiohead, Alison Krauss & Robert Plant and Ne-Yo, although none have yet been announced as performers.

It also shouldn't come as a surprise that Lil Wayne, Coldplay and the JoBros have signed on, as all three were on the award show circuit in 2008. Lil Wayne went so far as to appear at the Country Music Assn. Awards, where he waved a guitar onstage with Kid Rock, and Coldplay appeared at everything from the American Music Awards to the MTV Movie Awards. The JoBros also appeared at the AMAs, as well as the MTV Video Music Awards.

And speaking of the JoBros, the teen pop superstars should be considered this year's front-runner for best new artist. Aside from showing a bit of goodwill by donating a chunk of cash to the Grammy Museum, the kids are staying in the headlines as Grammy voting comes to a close this week. The boys were recently announced as performers at Monday night's Disney's Kids' Inaugural concert to honor military families, which will be hosted by Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, wife of Vice President-elect Joe Biden.

Also of note: The Recording Academy has fully embraced the social networking world. Today's announcement is the second Grammy tidbit that the group has unveiled via Twitter.

See, I told you information about the performers would be coming out. As the days progress more and more information will be coming out about the Grammys and who's performing in a tribute, with one another, presenters, and so forth.

Note to self:

well. don't get between me and my coldplay then :sneaky: :P

my roommate can be really cranky about TV, though. at least particular about it. in this case, i'll pay her money to let me have the TV that night.

*only 5 more months of having a roommate*
