06-Feb-09: Anchorman's Big Announcement Party Thread (North America Tour dates 2009)

Featured Replies

I'm saying this from the UK perspective.... they really havn't done 'COUNTLESS' things as you put it in the last year, not much compared to the US dates (which will be 3 rounds now)....plus they left us til very last, last year.

We had the free Brixton gig which was hard for any fan from here to get a ticket to, and the small BBC gig.....then the tour in December.

I feel very sorry for the places in Latin America, and also Portugal, Finland..... and others.

Hope you guys get some much deserved tour dates announced very soon! :\

Also them living in the UK makes no difference at all, it's not like we can go and knock at their door and demand a performance :P

it would be funny to see lots of coldplaying people outside The Bakery with big "we want more gigs" signs

No New York dates...I am pissed :/

Oh cry me a river. :p

They did like a million shows around Vancouver.

But wow. I'm very impressed with the concerts you've been to.. Franz... Vampire Weekend.. U2.. Radiohead... Arctic Monkeys.

That's awesome.

Don't know about you, but I don't really want to be beaten up by Chris Martin :\

:P

I bet some people wouldn't mind that

Well they can take the rap then, we'll just run and hide behind a tree :wacky:

CM beating you on the street. Then you're eyes meet. And it turns into just pure passion on the street.

And everyone's watching.

But you don't even care.

Uhhh.. gigs eh.

The whole thing about Coldplay announcing more North American dates being a "huge dissapointment" kinda upsets me. We get a couple of weeks this year, while they LIVE in the U.K. they have done COUNTLESS things over there, we don't even have the Life in Technicolor EP OR video yet! you guys get ALL of their music to buy, while we hardly get any. And what about all the radio spots and little acoustic things they've done over the years in the U.K. Sorry they're coming to America, should we tell them not to and tell them next time to say "unfortunately, we have to play some dates in America. Very dissapointing I know."
Erm no, thats not what they should say. But building it up as a "big" announcement when the majority of fans live OUTSIDE the US, thats what shouldn't have been done. Also - the band not playing in countries / places that havn't had a single tour date for over 2 years, while they go back to the US for the THIRD time in a year... how can this NOT be a disappointment for fans living elsewhere? I think people are perfectly entitled to be - at the very least - just a bit let down by the announcement, and i don't see how that could possibly be upsetting. And you say they've done countless things in the UK... and they havn't in the US? By the end of august this year, they would have played 51 shows in the US, excluding free shows. Compare that to 20 shows in the UK come September? And we had to wait 6 MONTHS after the album came out for the guys to tour here. I don't think there's much reason to envy us over here, and I also don't see how these "radio spots" and "little acoustic things" have any bearing in this case, since a bunch of dedicated fans on this site ALWAYS try to record and upload every single coldplay radio appearence so that everyone can listen, where ever it is broadcast, here or there. So fact that they LIVE here doesn't exactly make much difference at all in fact, at least not anymore. Trust me, we don't exactly get special treatment here.

And this isn't really about the UK or europe anyway. Hell, us brits shouldn't even be complaining that much with the stadium shows coming up. Its about places like South America that havn't had a single tour date announced, when the band could have easily made time to tour there instead of the US in July and August. This is why there is so much disappointment, and why you should realise how fortunate you are to have them play so often in your country. If you're not satisfied, move here next time they decide to tour, so you can wait 6 months to see them. Or even better, go to South America and don't see them at all.

Oh and about the Life In Technicolor EP, I guess that's understandable. But maybe you can import it, right? And I don't see what the big deal is about the video... you can download the [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXSovfzyx28]HD version[/ame] from youtube by following [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-C5ldEFcXA]THIS[/ame]

video's instructions. There are always ways.

.....We all know that they are gonna go visit all those place cause they always do....ANd they are going to some places that they havent visitied in this tour...like San Diego.

Very eloquently put Semy :D

well said, Semy!

always??

they have been in south america ONCE, in all these years (ok, twice in Brazil) but still

and also there are many places in Europe that they don't visit that much, portugal, finland, etc

Well that sucks for u guys but oh well U guys should just stop thinking about it and hope that they come to those places this time. Cause if u keep thinking about it its just gonna make u even more angry or dissapointed.....And like people have said we shouldnt even get mad at Coldplay cause it probably wasnt even them who choose when they go where..

It needed to be said i guess. It just gets on my nerves when people don't see how lucky they are, and then COMPLAIN about their situation. It's ungrateful, and just plain ignorant.

How about everyone just stops? Seriously guys, if they're about to tour for 9 months, you really think they're going to skip South America that whole time? We don't know what's going to be announced on Monday. We still don't know where they're playing in April, May, June, October, November, or December.

I bet you guys anything that there will be a South American tour, along with others. I think the only people who can be upset about the tour news at this point are the North Americans who don't have dates near them this time around, because this is probably it for North America for Viva la Vida.

I do agree that the whole "we have big news" thing was not their best move.

At least you guys have had 3 chances now to try to go see them. Not many other people outside the US can say that.

But yes, I agree that there are plenty of months free, and I do think there still might be a chance for the other countries who have had nothing yet. Lets hope Monday will put a lot of people's worries to rest

there will ALWAYS be people disappointed by tour dates. hell, im disapointed they didnt announce an alaska date, even though i knew there was no way that would happen.

Ya we should just have faith in our Guys........Coldplay are an amazingly nice band

I understand that it's unbalanced, and I totally sympathize, but I don't think that anyone can say "what about coming to ______?" yet, except for the North Americans left out of this new tour. Because they're obviously going to a shitload of places this year :P It's just a matter of announcing them...

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!!!!
