06-Feb-09: Anchorman's Big Announcement Party Thread (North America Tour dates 2009)

Featured Replies

i have to say that this thread embarrasses me a bit. i think that we americans have a right to be happy and that the people in the ignored countries have a right to be quite disappointed (but also a bit hopeful for monday ). i do not, however, think that we americans have any right to complain nor feel offended by any "america hating" going on. don't you think these people have a right to be upset? the tweets got everyone all worked up, thinking that this might be something EVERYONE could enjoy, and then they find out that they don't get anything out of it, nothing. they're not angry at us or our country, they're angry at the management and the way that this was hyped up to EVERYONE. however, if people that have seen them before on this tour (or even had past tour dates in their area that they may or may not have been able to go to) keep talking and whining like they are, i think they ARE going start "america hating." the tour being in america specifically isn't the issue in my eyes--if they were visiting the UK or anywhere else for the third time on a big tour leg while ignoring other very large and loyal continents, people would be similarly angry after hyping it up like they did. i don't think these coldplayers are angry about it being in AMERICA, they're angry about it being anywhere for the third time.

i'm american, and i'm gettng frustrated with the americans that are whining about them not being close enough to them, even though several of those people have seen them at least once this year judging by their signatures. it embarrasses me, frankly. of course, there are those americans that haven't seen them at all this year either, but put yourself in the shoes of a person from a country that hasn't seen coldplay at all this year and think about how much WORSE that must feel.

the biggest mistake in all this was hyping it up through twitter without being specific to area. if this had been announced without fanfare, i have a feeling that the reactions would be slightly less strong, although still disappointed. i think a lot of this is because the spirits soared so high for one night, then crashed. let them be disappointed, and realize how lucky we are.

and everyone should be hopeful for monday :D. i have a good feeling about south america

EDIT: sorry to bring up all the heavy stuff again when it had gotten all lighthearted for a while :P. but that took me a while to type, and when i started, the heavy stuff was still going on

I still don't really understand what Twitter is, but it seems to have created quite a mess today!

You may laugh now but soon you'll be singing my chosen song on the Fourth of July otherwise known as Dependence Day :D
Is that the day we have to help you change you adult diaper old woman? :P

They didn't have twitter when the Europe summer shows were announced, to cause a ruckus back then. And they only have just over 15, 000 followers on Twitter, so it's not that they "hyped it". There was no "hype" on their web site, just the announcement. We did all the hyping ourselves.

Can you blame us?! :P

I'd never even heard of Twitter until the Coldplay messenger claimed that they were "joining the twitter revolution". I was like "huh? the what revolution?" :P

Me too!

I even considered getting one but then I checked it out and saw it was kinda dumb and pointless :dozey:

I got one just to subscribe to the Coldplay twitter. But I have no idea how to use it, nor do I plan on using it at all except to get Coldplay updates!

It all seems pretty stupid to me! Write about your life in 140-character blurbs? No thanks... I can understand a band or something having a Twitter to keep fans super updated, but why would I need one?

Haha, I'd like fill up 40 characters:

"Just inhaled."

2 seconds later...

"Ooh, I exhaled!"

Best use for it is you can use your phone. So people at the shows can post a set list as it happens. :D Oh and update us all on what they are having for supper tonight. :P

Make a twitter, I'd view it everyday :nice:.

yes and if you forget to exhale, we can send you a twit and remind you so you won't die

I do have one! Like I said, I use it solely to get the Coldplay updates... But I should start posting updates like that :P

EDIT: ^ Soon CPR will become obsolete- people will just send tweets saying "BREATHE!" and everyone will become immortal

haha I just noticed- send me a twit! *imagines that*

i think i'd actually make a twitter just to read your posts if you did that!!

except for all of the coldplay posts, of course!:D

Did it!

"notlost92 just inhaled. Think I might exhale next, but haven't decided yet. less than 5 seconds ago from web"

I think that's it, anyway... Wait, the coldplay people won't get these, right? :uhoh:

Yes they will .

And: "This person has protected their updates."

Meanie :P.

oops! I'll fix that if I can figure it out!

"notlost92 after long deliberation, decided on exhale instead of another inhale. Crisis averted? less than 5 seconds ago from web"

No just if you do an @Coldplay message, they get those. I @ Coldplay them all the time. :laugh3:
