Whats a good starter acoustic guitar?

Featured Replies

My older brother had a guitar but just recently game it away.I played it all the time. Now I want to get one of my own.Something to start off with.Nothing too overboard expensive. So I was wondering if any of you guys had suggesstions as to what guitar would be good to use.Any help is greatly appreciated!!!Thanks in advance!!

Look at something from Yamaha. I have a FG720 that cost about 400 dollars. The sound is great, and the playability too.

I also wanted to suggest you something from Yamaha....those are not too expensive and usually have a good sound and good quality...:)

Yamaha does make great acoustics for under $300

But once again, anything but an Esteban

I've heard a lot of good things about Yamaha as well. I've personally never played one of their acoustics, but some of their electrics are some of the best guitars you can get on the low end of the price scale, so I'd think it logical that that level of quality is applied to their acoustics as well.

My first acoustic was one of those Fender "starter pack" sets. and that seemed to work well for me and lasted for quite a while.

basically don't worry too much about it. As long as you go with a Fender or Yamaha or other standard brand you will get a quality guitar for the price. As far as playability, they will obviously not be as good as more expensive guitars, but the cheaper ones still play and sounds very good. And whatever you go with is the type you will become accustomed to.

LOL I remember seeing those on sale for $100 bucks on infomercials several times. Luckily I had already bought my guitar weeks before.

"Fender acoustics are terrible, I made this mistake when I first started. "Oh it's a Fender it must be good."

I wouldn't say terrible. Would I gig with one? No. (though there are plenty of well known who do.) But if you just want something as a started for playing around the house and the like, they're ok enough for the money...

I started acoustic guitar with an local toy store for a few bugs!

Very, very good for its price!

But now I have an special guitar that's pretty rare: Fuego.

Those are very good quality, but hard to find for a good price and good quality.

I also have an Granada acoustic, but also pretty rare.

If you find one of these guitars, GET ONE!

Does the Yamaha FG700MS have a strap button?

thanks for the advice :) (i was planning to buy an acoustic soon, and was not sure of which brand would be better).

I would've gotten one with my birthday money but instead I'm buying a US Passport then saving the rest for random shit. If I weren't getting the passport I'd get a guitar though.

look for a gibson acoustic guitar. great quality!

what do you think about Crafter?

i guess i get one of those (LITE DE probably)... of course with PU system

I agree; get a Fender or Epiphone acoustic. Basically I agree with everyone else above.....

Though a Gibson would be expensive.

Though I honestly can't give good advice considering I got a crappy acoustic guitar as a starter.
