The Mad Hatter
I had to walk home from track practice last Friday because my parents didn't come to pick me up. I was completely tired from school and practice. From the track to my house is about a mile or so. It was hella hot out. As I was walking up the street to my house, I saw a worm squiggling about, trying to move back to soil to keep from being dried out by the hot sun. I kept walking, feeling kind of sorry for the worm, but not really thinking too much about it initially. I was just about to walk into my driveway, when the worm entered my mind again. It's just a worm, but you could save a life, I thought. How fucking weird is that? I turned around and walked all the way back down my street looking for the worm. When I found it, I crouched down, picked it up, and sat it gently into the soil beside the driveway it had been struggling on. I continued crouching for a few more seconds to make sure it was okay getting back into the earth or doing whatever other wormy things it was going to do. Suddenly, I heard a car pull up behind me. I stood up, moved back onto the sidewalk and out of the driveway and watched as the car pulled into the driveway I had just been crouched on, staring at the ground like a fool. So yeah, all my neighbors think I'm a weirdo now.

zeoir
I used to save little worms when it had rained a lot and the roads were filled with them. I just felt bad for them and tried to save as many as i could. I was about 10 then.

coldplaymama
Oh how lovely it would be if only my neighbors thought I was a weirdo!! You'll learn not to care who thinks you are strange as you get older. I'm a vegan and I live in the midwest, so you can imagine how many people think I'm some kind of freak for not eating meat, eggs or dairy!! I think it's awesome that you went back to save that worm, you just bought yourself some good karma!!
