The flying nun... done the Gaga way: Eccentric singer steps out in another bizarre outfit

She's no stranger to hitting the headlines with her bizarre outfit choices.

But as she stepped out in London today Lady Gaga appeared to have taken inspiration from another unique character - the Flying Nun.

The 25-year-old singer wore a black and white dress, which featured a rigid structure to the side and the back, teamed with a pair of sheer black dress and a black head veil.

And, as usual, Gaga teamed the dress with a pair of teetering black boots, causing her to rely on the support of her bodyguard to get down the steps as she left her hotel in London.

 

It's been a busy week for Gaga, who played the Robin Hood Foundation Annual Gala in New York at the weekend just days after performing in Mexico City and jetting to Los Angeles to mentor young hopefuls on American Idol.

Then it was off to Cannes, where she performed her new single Judas for a French TV show during the film festival.

Now, after jetting in to London, Gaga will be performing at a secret show at Mayfair's Annabel Club this evening.

The event, hosted by Belvedere Vodka, will see Gaga perform selected tracks from her second album Born This Way, due for release later this month.

Gaga will also be performing at Radio One's Big Weekend in Carlisle on Sunday.

She's worn her hair in cola can rollers, tied it in a bow on the top of her head and dyed it a rainbow of colours.

But clearly it was getting all a bit too much for Lady Gaga, who seems to have decided that having no hair at all is now the way to go.

The singer left her fans gobsmacked last night, when she performed on TV completely bald.

The Judas star was a guest on Paul O'Grady Live and arrived on the show wearing a bobbed green wig which matched her fringed dress.

She immediately took to a piano which had been covered with brown curly hair, to perform the promotional song from her new album, aptly called Hair.

She sat down at the piano and took off the green wig - which she hung up in front of her - revealing a bald head underneath, before launching into the song.

Halfway through, she paused, grabbed her wig and put it back on her head as she finished the tune, all the time surrounded by fire.

Of course, Lady Gaga hasn't gone and done a Britney Spears, but was just wearing a skin-coloured skull cap to hide her real hair underneath.

To rapturous applause from her adoring fans, she then blew kisses to them before joining O'Grady on the sofa for a chat.

 

After declaring that he was 'my queen', they spoke about her new album Born This Way, which is the fastest-selling album to date.

She said: 'I just can't believe it, it's such a dream comes true and I was so nervous when I put the album out, I just wanted to make my fans so happy and wanted them to enjoy the music.'

After the break, she came back on the show, dressed in a colourful fringed jacket, pants and stockings and suspenders, a beret and huge sunglasses.

This week, Gaga got in trouble with the police while performing in Paris, when she caused a frenzy outside her hotel room when she leaned out of her window calling down to her fans.

According to the Sun, she was fined and told off by bosses at the Park Hyatt hotel for disturbing the peace in the early hours of Thursday morning.

A source told the paper: 'GaGa was given a telling off for her antics.

'Hotel bosses tried to get her to come in because of the frenzy she was creating outside but she didn't listen so the police turned up and fined her. She was like a woman possessed. You know what she's like with her fans.'

While millions of her 'Little Monsters' look up to her as a role model, Lady Gaga has been accused of starving herself for weeks at a time to fit into her tiny costumes and experimenting with every drug under the sun.

The Paparazzi singer's weight obsession has come under scrutiny in a new explosive book, which accuses the star's dangerous dieting as 'sick'.

 

In a candid interview with Star magazine, investigative journalist Ian Halperin implied the New Yorker is losing touch with reality, saying she is turning into a caricature of herself and not the 'Stefi' her friends know.

He said: 'Those who have worked with her on tour reported to me that Gaga barely ate for weeks at a time to fit into her costume.

'She is sick and obsessed with her weight. One friend told me, Gaga will stare at herself in the mirror for hours on end, analysing and critiquing her body. It's an unhealthy obsession.'

 

 

Halperin also shed light on her use of narcotics, with accusations that 'her drug use started young.'

He added: 'From heroin to cocaine and ecstasy, her friends say that she has done every drug conceivable. You name it she has done it.

 

'She's morphed into this caricature called Lady Gaga, who isn't even a real person.

 

'The girl known as Stefi to her friends and family has all but disappeared.'

But Gaga has made no secret of her former love of partying, admitting she would take cocaine regularly in 2005 after dropping out of a music course at New York University.

She said: 'My cocaine soundtrack was The Cure. I loved all their music, but I listened to this one song on repeat while I did bags and bags of cocaine.

 

'I didn’t think there was anything wrong with me until my friends came over and said, "Are you doing this alone? Um, yes. Me and my mirror".

'But I was able to stop, because I was panicking more on the drugs than I was sober. So I’m fine now.'

Halperin, who has written biographies of Michael Jackson, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, spent 12 months writing his tell-all book.

He said Gaga's outfits and heavy make-up are not just for spectacle - they help to disguise her illness.

In June 2010, the 25-year-old revealed she 'tested borderline positive' but showed 'no symptoms' for lupus, a disease where the immune system attacks the body's cells and tissue.

 

But Halperin disagrees, saying: 'Her lupus is far worse than she lets on.

'Part of the reason she wears wigs and make-up is because her hair is falling out and she's covered in red blotches, both side effects of the disease.'

Today, his claims were seemingly backed-up as Gaga hid beneath a wig and took inspiration from kooky animated character Marge Simpson.

The pop princess showcased a giant green conehead during a press conference in Singapore, ahead of her concert at the Marina Bay Sands.

 

Her neon hairdo appeared to weigh her down, with the 25-year-old reclining on a sofa for the duration of the event.

Although, judging from her footwear, her diva demands to stay seated on a leather throne may have largely been due to her heel-less platforms.

The New Yorker tottered along in gravity-defying shoes, decorated with metal studs, a beige PVC wedge and plastic casing.

She teamed the hair and shoes with an ill-fitting dress that appeared to be made from cheap felt and raided from a dressing-up box.

The shapeless item - along with her white gloves - were also reminiscent of fictional characters, this time instead of Springfield inhabitants though, it was Toy Story's Mr Potato Head and Disney's Mickey Mouse.

During her conference, Gaga looked happy and in high spirits with plenty of smiles and posing.

But when she was awarded with a plaque in recognition of her digital album and CD sales from the President of Universal Music Group International, Sandy Monteiro, she looked decidedly bored.

Notably, she had to stand to accept the prize so perhaps she was struggling to stay upright in the enormous platforms.

Earlier this week, the popstar, real name Stefani Germanotta, stepped out again in typically unsuitable daily attire.

Gaga opted for another pair of towering shoes and a black lace cat suit as she headed to a yoga studio in Taiwan.

Lady Gaga's official YouTube channel has been suspended by the video sharing website.

 

People who click on it expecting to see material posted by the Born This Way singer are greeted with a simple message. "This account has been suspended due to multiple or severe violations of YouTube's Copyright Policy," it reads.

 

Several online reports say it's because of a disagreement between the star and a Japanese media company. Lady Gaga recently appeared on SMAP X SMAP, a weekly TV show in Japan, to promote her new album.

 

During her ten minute set she performed a medley of songs featuring Born This Way, You & I and The Edge of Glory. Footage of that performance has since been removed from other websites as well as YouTube. On one it says the copyright violation claim is from Media Interactive Inc.

 

Google, which owns YouTube, said it does not comment on individual videos or accounts. Lady Gaga is one of the most popular artists on the internet. Her Bad Romance video has been watched nearly 400 million times on YouTube.

 

She also has more than 11 million followers on Twitter.
