No.1 VIVA LA VIDA what a fantastic song.. not one of Coldplay's best in my opinion but I really think it's pure genious. So you are probably wondering where is my rant.. well here it goes: I realised that once Viva la vida came out everyone had taken a liking to it. It being a comeback song to get their old fans back and also a sort of breakthrough scene into real mainstream. The thing I hate are the people who prance around saying how much they love Coldplay when really they only started liking them literally yesterday. I just find it ridiculous how these people think they know everything about coldplay. Half the people at my school do it and it's ridiculous! Viva is the only song that is listened to of coldplay anymore! When I was looking up coldplay videos I realised how little the other songs are being listened to/watched whereas viva la vida has been basically killed on the radio, telly box, music stores.. JUST EVERYWHERE! No.2 THESE BLOODY PLAGIARISM ACCUSATIONS. Okay so here is my logic. If that satriani guy accuses them.. fair enough, whatever. I don't give a stuff about him, he can go and hide in a box somewhere. BUT SERIOUSLY! Cat stevens.. surely he can see the logic. Why isn't he accusing satriani!!!?!?! Satriani's song was released before Coldplay. But noooooo it's gang up on Coldplay because they are really famous right now and let's try smash them down to the ground while they are really high up the popularity ladder. Next thing you know the bloody pussy cat dolls will be accusing them of something ridiculous. Well thankyou to whoever read this. I probably sound like an idiot anyway. I mean, come on; more listeners=more money=more music! But alas, I feel you. It's quite annoying when people act like they've been a fan forever when they've only them for a month. The plagiarism is hella ridiculous, people are just being assholes so they can ride on Coldplay's awesome coattails and reach the top. I don't care if everyone else loves them or know, also I don't care if most of the "fans" only know viva la vida or clocks... and real fans are not just the ones who are here or the ones who can go to a concert (because believe me, money is an issue and also they can't visit every country/city in the world), it's just about enjoying the music, people doesn't need to be a coldplay maniac or to know everything about them to be a "real fan" Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Batman Posted May 12, 2009 Share Posted May 12, 2009 I only call a Coldplay fan a Coldplay fan, when this oh so called fan is FANATIC, that means he/she listens to them over a few months and not only one song, or collects their albums (or visits Coldplaying.com :D) and is really in to them. I don't really like this word Fan, so I usually don't describe people who like Coldplay as fans, rather as people-who-like-Coldplay, even if it is a bulky description. ... ahem back to the topic! Well, I think these people who are like OMFG I LUV COLDPLAY when they only listened to VLV or whatever just want to express their instant joy when they listen to that song. And because Coldplay created it, they are the first thought that comes into the minds of those people, and I think that most of these fans are just too lazy or euphoric to re-think what they've just said when they say such exaggerated things. All though last year I really started liking them or really listening to all their songs I feel like a true fan. Oh yeah... do not listen to the radio it ruins every song! ;) (at least in the US). A few years ago, when people would ask who my favorite band was.. I was always kind of embarrased to say that it was Coldplay.. because people would give me dirty looks as if to say "oh they're shit" At least now, more people know about them and like them... so I think it's good that they have more fans.. even if some of them are "posers." I don't think that a person can be a BIG fan of a group or artist if they only like one song which happens to be the one played on tv commercials and every 5 minutes on the radio.
