I usually don't get all wrapped up in the American Idol hype, but this year it was hard to ignore (especially with my mom making me watch every single Adam Lambert performance). And now Kris Allen takes the crown after he quite obviously fell short last night and overall does not have the same abilities as Adam.

 

 

So what do you think? Did America screw up again? Or was the better singer chosen?

They both won tonight in my opinion. Kris wins the title and will for sure get a contract for a year, and Adam will be a very free agent and won't have to sing that piece of crap coronation song that DioGuardi helped write.

I think Adam's screaming does get a bit old, but he absolutely shone covering "We Are the Champions" with Queen last night. Instead of just yelling, he actually sung with amazing power and strength in his voice, he really reminded me of Freddy Mercury. Queen oughta dump the singer they got now and let Adam do it. Cuz while no one can ever replace Freddy, Adam would sure do a hell of a job on those high notes!

 

 

On a side note, if you voted by each week's performance rather than overall, Adam should have won in a landslide. They were pretty much even on the final performance and voting night, until the last song where Adam did okay but Kris absolutely bombed, actually missing several notes entirely in the beginning.

I definitely supported Adam. He's the better singer, performer, and musician. But Kris's style and appearance simply appeal to more folks. It's that simple.

I never thought either of them were SUPER good or anything; but Adam is definitely the better singer. Not that I really watched Idol this year. I really liked Kris, too, though, so it doesn't matter to me very much.

 

All the Kris fans thought he was going to lose so they banded together for one last stand while all the Adam fans thought he was going to win so they went "meh I'll not vote," or in my opinion, that's how it went down, anyway. Idol's an overrated peice of crap lately anyway, though, so.

The only thing I know about American Idol is that Adam Lambert did an amazing cover of 'Mad World'. :P

Ok now... I LOVED that Kris won. I don't think Adam should've won. Never liked him... never will... *AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH* (oops sorry) he was overrated all season long... OMG your great! You are the American Idol... C'mon he wears more makeup than Paula and does the same screaming thing on each song.... Kris was good. He was a REAL artist and no, i don't just like him because he's from Arkansas... HE WAS GOOD.... REALLY GOOD.... REALLY REALLY GOOD.

I never liked Adam. I can appreciate he's got a great voice, but he just seemed so contrived - I never really believed him. When David Cooke picked unusual covers last year (like the Chris Cornell version of Billie Jean) they suited him and seemed genuine. But Adam's pciks always seemed forced and contrived.

 

Kris was just fun to watch and never seemed to be trying to hard.

 

On the whole I think it was a poor final - they needed to do a couple of uptempo numbers and the winners song was pretty poor.

Finals are always soo cool ;) but this was the best lot of singers yet, and I've watched since Kelly and season 1...

Yeah, Adam may have a good voice, but number one, he's too full of himself, number two, he's boring, number three, KRIS OWNS :)
