Greatest Sporting Moments Ever

Featured Replies

What are your most memorable sporting moments ever witnessed?? For me only two events stand out.

First of all I go for what is widely regarded as the greatest football match ever. The date - 25th May 2005, the venue - Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey, the match - Liverpool vs Ac Milan in the Champions League Final. Most memorable night of my life. Liverpool won the match on penalties... only after coming back from 3-0 down against the mighty Italians.

Secondly I have to go for the greatest moment, for me, in sport last year. The Brazilian Grand Prix in November last year was simply a stunning, STUNNING event. Lewis Hamilton would win the World Championship after securing it by overtaking a strugglig Timo Glock on the last corner, of the last lap of the last race of the season. Hollywood couldn't make it up!

Don't really know much about basketball although I have heard the name Kobe Bryant.

This is actually a really great thread. Unfortunately I can't find a good video of the Music City Miracle, so I'll just post something obvious.

Oh well, here's a great top 5 list including it at #2 , for all those who haven't seen much American Football.

Agree with the first one

As for Formula One, I'd go for the Jerez Grand Prix in 1997.

How do I post a video?

MICHAEL FUCKING PHELPS in the 100 fly at the Olympics

also JASON FUCKING LEZAK in the last leg of the 400 free relay at the Olympics.... Jason Lezak is such a bamf.

Well, I would say Zidane's headbutt of Marco Metarazzi, LOL!! I don't care if was unsportsmanlike conduct, it was hilarious. That idiot deserved being headbutted.

Michael Fucking Phelps and Jason Fucking Lezak indeed!!! That relay was the best part of the whole olympics.

Red Sox world series win in 2004

It was pretty funny to watch the Yankees fans squirm :laugh3:

yeah, but also the fact that they hadn't won in like 84 years. i'm not into baseball, but i found it really inspiring.

Yeah, what's amazing is that they beat the yankees for the pendant by coming back from 3-0 in the championship series, and winning each game in dramatic fashion. You couldn't script it any better unless Babe Ruth had climbed out of his grave and blessed Fenway Park.

I was in a hotel in Boston while watching that, and I remember hearing the whole floor above me and the whole floor below me erupt with cheers at that moment. I do get tired of all the Michael Phelps hype, but that truly was fucking incredible. :D

Welkom 2004, the first round of the Moto GP for 2004, Rossi had gone from a bike that was great to Yamaha which at the time was definatly not a winner, he went on to win the first race and the championship too.

Michael Phelps was historic, but no where near as incredible as Usain Bolt. Watched him live and before the start of each race I honestly didn't expect anything special. In the end I had just witnessed sporting history at its very best. His achievements last summer rank higher than any other Olympian. Sorry Phelps fans.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Nadal v Federer in last years Wimbledon final.

Just simply copy and paste the address bar of the youtube video you are watching on youtube. Don't agree with your Jerez comment! Schumacher is my sporting hero so that's why! If I was to pick a Schumacher moment it'd have to be Spain 96 driving a torrid Ferrari through the rain and making the rest of the field look like monkeys. Simply genius.

I'll have to disagree. Bolt broke records in three events (including the relay), but Michael Phelps won all 8 races he entered which had never been done before, and he did it while shattering 7 world records and one olympic record. I don't think any other olympian, much less another swimmer will ever come close to matching that.

Oh, its definitely on my list. They were showing reruns after the French final this year, and I was getting goosebumps just seeing it again.

This. Somehow the underdog Giants beat the undefeated Patriots. I was very happy since I hate the Patriots with a passion.

I'll have to say Federer v Nadal in the 2008 Wimbledon final. I'm not tennis's biggest fan but that was gripping stuff

For me it has to be this. Winning the second test in the 2005 Ashes with the Aussies requiring three to win with one wicket remaining. Get in! :D
