For the past week, you might or might not have noticed the phase "The Battle Begins 19/07" in my signature block, so welcome everybody to:

 

The Battle of the Smilies

 

The sun sets on the war,

The day breaks and everything is new...

 

Right, the battle of the Smilies is not something I don’t think has been done before on this scale, nor in the past few years, so in a bid to pass some time and do something completely random, the aim is to find what the Coldplayers favourite smiley is. It will be run in a similar format as the battle of your favourite albums of all time.

 

The format

32 smilies will be selected to go forward into a comic over sized top-hat and will be drawn against each other, and what is needed by the lovely members is to vote which smiley of that match-up they like the best, or dislike the least, whatever floats your floating object which might be a boat, but could be a caravan. The 32 smilies will be knocked down to the last-one standing in a knockout format.

 

What is needed

In the early stages we have qualification, which is pretty simple and requires you lovely people to nominate up-to 5 smilies you feel deserve to face-off in the war, the only requirement is that they are from the forum’s own list ( http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/misc.php?do=getsmilies&editorid=vB_Editor_QR) and not from another site.

 

What happens next?

After the nominations come in and once the deadline passes, the smilies will be put into a list and the top 32 smilies will go into the hat and the draw shall be made. Each round will last around 1 week, normally going up on a sunday to end the following saturday night.

 

However!

If when adding up the nominations and there is tie-break, extra knockout rounds will be put in place, with the smilies tied on X number of votes, I shall not be picking up the smilies this time round, I will explain more later.

what happens in the event of a tie?

In the proper knockout rounds, in the rare case that there is a draw in a match-up, I hold the deciding vote and won't vote otherwise :)
