Ted Kennedy Dead at 77

Featured Replies

The Kennedy family issued the following statement early Wednesday on the passing of Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy.

"Edward M. Kennedy - the husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle we loved so deeply - died late Tuesday night at home in Hyannis Port. We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever. We thank everyone who gave him care and support over this last year, and everyone who stood with him for so many years in his tireless march for progress toward justice, fairness and opportunity for all. He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it. He always believed that our best days were still ahead, but it's hard to imagine any of them without him."

Sad news, but that's a beautiful statement from his family

Some time around 11pm apparently.

Here comes the Ted Kennedy Memorial Healthcare Bill That You Must Vote For Or Risk Looking Like You Don't Care About Dead People.

Disregarding any negative opinion I may have about Senator Kennedy, he was a real trooper who triumphed through his share of tragedies (John and Robert, to name the big ones) and left his mark in politics. History will be the judge of his effectiveness, but very few politicians have such fruitful careers.

Sadly, his death is already being politicized for the health care bills. Disgusting. Also, a special election is already in the works (MA is the bluest of the blue states, though.).

History will be the judge of his effectiveness, but very few politicians have such fruitful careers.

How, exactly, is any politician's career "fruitful"? All they do is vote. They contribute nothing of value to society.

A winner is you.

I want to see if he can back up his claim and name a lot of "Fruitful" things in his career.

The funeral was absolutely beautiful. Personally I think a load of what Senator Kennedy did was crap, but he was extremely well respected and loved by his colleagues both democrat and republican as well as by the state of Massachusetts and lived one hell of a hard life.

Chief fundraiser for the IRA...

He wasn't the most popular person this side of the pond, but Rest in peace anyway.

-he wrote an open letter to the Senate last week urging them to do just that. It was almost like his dying wish to get this health reform bill passed... so I see it as colleauges just respecting his wishes. Despite all the 'bad' things he may have done... he did do a lot of good for his country. Probably only one of the few politicians this country has that actually cared about the people he represented...

sad legacy the Kennedy's have... but now he's with his brothers who cared so much for this country as well... may he rest in peace.
