Who is the better Bassist?

Featured Replies

Out of these three:

Guy Berryman (Coldplay)

Colin Greenwood (Radiohead)

Chris Wolstenholme (Muse)

Chris Wolstenholme easily. He gives Muse a bigger sound with three people than Coldplay or Radiohead can get with four and five, respectively.

Chris.

I can't think of any other band, other than maybe RHCP, where the bass is so upfront and dominant.

I love Colin, but Chris is amazing, not sure in this one

Chris

Chris definetly but I think Flea from RHCP should be there too, I even think he's better

Whoever voted for Guy is an idiot.

One word : Hysteria

Chris for sure

Whoever voted for Guy is an idiot.

;)

I voted for Chris. No matter how much I love Coldplay, Chris is better bassist than Guy...

i voted guy, but i meant chris  his bass saves starving children.

but really, they are pretty equal to me. ive always loved guys basslines.

Guy is definitively not the best bassist on earth and he say so himself but I love his approach of the instrument. He's a very subtle player. He's not trying to show off with effing basslines or impressiv speed (aka Flea) but instead place the right tune at the right time to higlight the song or Chris' words. He creates beautiful atmospheres (check out his work on Apparatjik). And to me, being able of doing this requirred some skills that more better bassist player kinda lack sometimes...

So way to go Guy (but Flea still rules :P)!!

Chris followed by Colin.
