So, here in Sweden Coldplay songs have been sung many times on our verison of Idol, so I was just thinking maybe we could gather all the Idol-Coldplay-covers from different countries in one thread and discuss :)

Urgh. I can't stand Coldplay covers. It is so hard to see anyone doing their songs justice except - well - Coldplay.

 

Funny, I kinda owe Johan for that horrible cover. It made me realize just how freaking amazing Coldplay is. Eventhough I had known it for years.

Do people really have to do this? Why don't they sing a already horrible song? (aka. Something by Lady GaGa or Miley Cyrus)?

I don't know the guy's name but there was a contestant on American Idol last season who sang Viva La Vida. The result: he was booted off the next night. :laugh3:

 

I there is a YouTube clip of just the his version but not of the actual performance. What really shocks me are the comments from people saying his version was not bad. :shocked2:

Avril butchered it to tiny little bits and pieces and then threw it to the dogs. My ears bled when I heard that one. :(

 

I approach Coldplay covers very cautiously these days, especially after the Lady Gaga incident, so I won't be pressing the play button on those youtube vids in the first post...

 

However, The Kooks' version of Violet Hill is pretty sweet. That's the only Coldplay cover I actually like.
