It's almost odds on that Gorillaz are touring this summer. Whether it's just festivals or just stadium shows, we'll see.

By the way Alex, thanks for introducing me to Gypsy & the Cat. I'm in love with them lately

No probs.

SO worth it

arhghghg bloody hell. why does damon need to bring 50 million people with him!!

OH and funny story...

I got back to Brissy today and went and checked the mail, and as expected I had my Basement Birds CD, with the ticket inside. Then when I opened one of my other envelopes I found another ticket!! I am 100% sure I only paid for one ticket so I got a free one!! :awesome:

Are you talking about Gorillaz or Basement Birds? I thought you were going to Basement Birds?

BB. I still haven't decided. I'm a maybe....

Well if you want to make a quick trip to brissy I've got a spare ticket for you!

Haha thanks. I wish I could but waaaaay too busy!

Wow. What a weekend. Firstly, Saturday night. Temper Trap! Was super excited for this gig because of the fact that it had been a long and sad two months since my last gig (or possibly even longer...) and I was hanging out for it!! Oh Mercy and UK band The Joy Formidable supported making it a very impressive bill on the night, and both support bands really made an impact with some brilliant tunes. Our seats in Festival Hall were in the seated balcony which overlooks the crowd... pretty much the best seats in the house. Pretty sure their label VIP managers were there too and a few AFL players we spotted too! It was different sitting down but it was a nice change because you can rock up whenever plus its a lot more comfortable and peering down over a roaring crowd was just amazing.

They played all their album, plus two new songs. The first of which was quite impressive and had Dougy on acoustic guitar (unusal!)... entitled "Rabbit Hole". The other track was a bit slower but it was just a bit like another Soldier-On type song. Overall an amazing night. Happy to see these guys for the fifth time now!

Tonight my bandmate and I went to see The Joy Formidable in their headline gig. They haven't released any material over here, and a small crowd of about 100 gathered at a nice intimate venue. Nice and close is always the best but as I write this my ears are still ringing hard! The support was by new band Strange Talk who REALLY impressed. My mate knew one of the guys in the band, and it was their first ever gig. They play very well live, it was very well rehearsed and polished. They sounded like Phoenix and Friendly Fires mixed together, and I was just listening stunned. These guys better go big in Australia or it will be an outrage. The free song on their website is nowhere near their best either. They're recording an EP at the moment and will be fully launching it soon.

The Joy Formidable, amazed by the support considering nobody has heard of them here and also since nothing is released here, played a blistering set. EP tracks were played, plus previews of their debut album which is due for release at the end of the year. The band also hinted at a possible return early next year... so they could be added onto V Festival perhaps if that is re-run. After the gig, Temper Trap DJs played so I got the chance to chat to the drummer and lead guitarist in the band about last night, sitting with their managers, Britain, plus they were impressed that I had seen them before they left overseas two years ago. Really nice guys. Helped me steal a poster too :)

Ahh, that's so cool that you got to meet them!! *jealous*

Just got back from Kasabian! No way am I going to be able to sleep anytime soon!! They were just as good as last time :wacky:

Not a bad crowd either, about 6000 I think. I was in the lucky minority who were close enough to the stage to stay dry because it started raining the second the band walked on stage! I was first row, at pretty much the same place I was when I saw them earlier in the year. Six months earlier actually, to the day!

The only difference to the setlist to last time (except for the order - they opened with Shoot the Runner, and the encore was Fire, Vlad then LSF [best encore EVER]) was that they replaced Processed Beats with Reason is Treason... which was slightly sad because Processed Beats is really fun but I was thrilled to hear Reason is Treason live!

This time I didn't get to walk away with anything cool like a plectrum (;)) But I did touch Serge's jacket!! :wacky:

And, as usual, sore calf muscles, a sore throat and ringing ears. Wouldn't have it any other way though :D

A couple of people walked away with microphones, lucky them :surprised:

Little Red supported, they were great!

i love it how its the middle of summer in europe and america yet the pride of the indie world is down here in aus where its freken cold!!

Haha, I never thought of it that way!

It's probably not that cold compared to what they're used to anyway :P

Ugh, I've just been looking up the weather for woodford and although the actual festival days look like they should only be a bit cloudy, it's meant to rain on Wed and Thurs. Fingers crossed the weather changes its mind!!!

Ahh, that's so cool that you got to meet them!! *jealous*

Oh really? When's the release date??

Yeah, not a whole lot of difference between the gigs. Though I'm slightly more sore after this one, but maybe that's just because I was too psyched for BDO to notice :P

And they did play Julie and the Mothman, it was about fourth in the setlist. Otherwise I would've been really disappointed!

Album is due out 20 August. Same day as the new Klaxons record.
