Mystery Jets are playing at Rhythm & Vines (New Years festival) here.

Interesting. So they are surely a shoe in for falls.

if ticket prices are decent for field day i might actually go to it. it seems pretty decent.

does anybody else find it weird how some acts are announcing a 2nd aus tour before they even complete their first. for example slash started his australian tour this past week but week before he was announced to return in february for soundwave. same deal with klaxons who are here in september and were just announced for falls and field day. im not ungrateful i just find it a bit odd and somewhat annoying as there are some bands *cough*radiohead*cough* who we've been waiting years and years to see.

I totally agree, and it really exemplifies the unpredictability of touring bands to Australia thesedays. The klaxons one shocked me that they would tour 2 months apart!

Time to modify my BDO prediction yet again: (some have been confirmed = *)

International

Soundgarden* - Blue Stage Headliner

Kings of Leon* - Orange Stage Headliner

M.I.A* - Boiler Closer?

Die Antwoord*

Mark Ronson*

Stone Temple Pilots*

Andrew WK*

MGMT*

Arcade Fire - possible green stage closer? They need an alternative to Soundgarden.

LCD Soundsystem - Boiler Closer?

My Chemical Romance

Broken Bells

The Ting Tings

Teenage Fanclub

Foals

The Streets

Ok Go

The Black Keys

Local

Silverchair - #1 Aussie Act

John Butler Trio

Pendulum

now now alex u cant go changing it after a few big names have been all but confirmed lol.

with soundgarden and kings of leon headlining, two bands i have a lot of respect for but not exactly fans of im really thinking twice about buying tickets this time around. theyre saying stone temple pilots will be second last on the orange stage which would make arcade fire 4th last at best and no way is a band of that stature going to settle for that. especially considering theyre about to go headline Reading n Leeds.

and putting arcade fire on a smaller stage would be a massive security risk especially in sydney where the smaller stages have a capacity thats about a third of what the main arena can hold.

personally i want AF to screw the festivals and just do a huge tour on their own.

^^

I'm not "changing" lol I am merely updating it with new information! I personally am not a fan of soundgarden, but would be very interested to see KOL at a festival.

As for Arcade Fire, I am really puzzled as to where they would fit. Kasabian are headliners in the UK and they got a mid-day slot here this year, so its always a possibility except for the fact that Arcade Fire were a lot later on the bill the last time they were here. I'm all for the huge tour, I think this Big Day out will still be worth going to regardless of them being there or not if the predictions are true.

Since I am not a soundgarden fan, it will be nice to check out another stage headliner for once! Possibly green stage or Boiler room perhaps depending on the quality of act. KOL will draw a large crowd as Muse did this year, but may not be as strong if this upcoming album flops...

just found out that Field Day is $142 so that plan has gone out the window. going by the rumours at the moment, im going to have a tough time getting a good group together for BDO, im really hoping john butler trio is the headline aussie act rather than silverchair or even bliss n eso.

i guess we'll have to just wait and see.

I guess it all depends on whether Silverchair release any material in 2010. If they decide to release in Jan, I think it's cutting it too fine. I'm hoping for JBT too, I am fearful of Bliss n Eso especially after their #1 album last week.

I've thrown Teenage Fanclub into the lineup as my smokey, they said they were coming back to Australia soon after they have just released their LP in may. They've played BDO before so it would fit the whole 'recycling acts' logic. If this was the case I'd be pretty happy.

is eminem allowed in the country?

I'm not sure, but there are a lot of rumours around him being at BDO 2011.

Went and saw Art vs Science on Friday night, WOO what a show! They've moved along a lot since I saw them earlier in the year at Good Vibes, they're great at involving the crowd and getting them dancing! Maybe a little too much, as I ended up having a few crowd-surfers pulled out over the top of me (I was front center) and ended up with one actually on top of me, causing me to hit my head on the barrier, haha. I have a nice purple spot there now :P

Anyway, the support acts were Jinja Safari and Tim & Jean, both of which were great, but Jinja Safari were exceptionally good. I saw them at Splendour too, their energy onstage is amazing; I found myself grinning like a fool throughout their entire set

Anyway, you guys should check them out, their debut EP is released this Friday.

Sounds very folky. Wouldn't they have felt way out of place supporting Art Vs Science?!?!?!

And I am trying hard to not discover new bands now lol

Maybe, but the crowd absolutely loved them. It was hard not to really :P I think they were better received than Tim & Jean.

man i wanna see art vs science again. saw them once just after their breakthrough performance at splendour 08 and they were pretty damn awesome. me wants an LP!

Yeah, I hope the LP lives up to the ridiculous amount of hype it will build!

I think it will, and it will probably be popular to the mainstream audience too :\

oh wells. doesnt mean it wont be good. the presets album was very mainstreamy but it was still awesome.

True, true.

I know it was released ages ago, but how does the new Birds of Tokyo album stack up against the last one?

  • Author

imo. pretty meh.

Universes was a stunning aussie rock n roll album. this album is bland, one dimensional and completely lacking in creativity.

MIAMI HORROR

:)

New album dropped today, I got it last night at JB. It's pretty cohesive and there some awesome tracks.

Going to get it tomorrow!! Along with Jinja Safari's EP and Klaxons!

Also, it's kinda old news now but I FINALLY uploaded all my vids from Splendour.
