^ Yay, so you got tickets then!

I've got my heart pretty set on Laneway now, so that and an Arcade Fire tour (though it doesn't have to be summer, just at some point :P) will be enough to keep me happy for a while. I'm hoping Arcade Fire don't come out here too early next year though, I don't reallly want to have to make a random trip back to brisbane in the middle of my holidays, lol.

the Billboard Touring Awards have announced their nominations. and in the category for best venue in the world, Sydney's Acer Arena has been nominated alongside the legendary Madison Square Gardens and O2 Arena in London. represent!! :P (im not sure if thats the correct use of the term)

I'm going to be in Melbourne from the 19th to the 27th in January next year...you will have to tell me of any show's happening!

sadly I just miss The National, Sleigh Bells, Interpol, Shout Out Louds and Lightspeed Champion!

All the BDO sideshows will be on around then, Eddie.

As for my summer hopes, After december, I plan to see Arcade Fire if they come, Mystery Jets and Phoenix sideshows, and Laneway. That'll do me.

we should set these posts aside and then look at them again at the end of summer. i just dont see any of us staying true to our word. lol

Deal. I'm moving out, so I will have less cash which will help me!

^ Join the club! :P But you will find the money if you really want to go see someone, believe me :P

Haha, ok. All we really have to do is remember PAGE 87

Also, in that case I have to add Good vibes to my list :P I shouldn't go to too many more throughout the summer though because I'll be waaaaay out of Brisbane. I'll literally be making a trip back to Brissy especially for Laneway.

i'll be doing summer school in the second half of january so i'll have little or no time to attend any BDO sideshows but might......just might make an exception for Tool.

Summer school = EW.

I'll be spending this summer producing and releasing music! :D

yeah it is eww but i gots to do what i gots to do even if that means missing out on some awesome summer gigs. im pretty happy with the gigs ive seen this year and the ones i will be seeing in the coming months. the one i really regret missing would have to be the Strokes.

I'd rather do it in winter, but meh. Looking forward to BEACH WEATHER!!

Yeah, my regrets for 2010 in terms of gigs:

- Not going to Splendour and wanting to

- Missing out on strokes tix

- Missing out on seeing Richard Ashcroft

- Not seeing Phoenix earlier in the year

- Missing Passion pit at BDO

I'm considering summer school too. Though thats mostly because a) I'm going to need to be down here about them house-hunting, and b) I need an excuse to be down here for Laneway :P

Now to copy Jamie's format...

I'll be spending this summer producing and releasing music! :D

Woo! :D Oh and BEACH WEATHER FTW

Not going to Splendour and wanting to

'twas amazingly epic. I plan on going next year too, no matter the venue

Missing out on strokes tix

:dead: they were AMAZING. Sorry, but it's true. The truth hurts sometimes.

Not seeing Phoenix earlier in the year

Well they're coming back out, all hope is not lost!

Missing Passion pit at BDO

I caught them at Splendour, but being in the pit that third night would have been SO AMAZING in hindsight!!

My regrets for 2010:

None whatsoever. I've had an amazing year, in terms of music and not. I wouldn't change a thing!

How do all of you people afford all these concerts/cds? What does you all do for jobs? I'm assuming you are all in uni doing something interesting?

didnt everyone miss out on him?

Yeah, that was at splendour though... Apparently his show in Melbourne was INSANE. Had like two encores. Gutted.

As for phoenix, yeah they is coming back this summer so I will catch them. IMO I just want to hear everything off their third album, straight through.

As for Bryce's comment, I only make 200 bucks a week working part-time. I probably buy 4-6 CDs a month. I see these concerts because it's my only genuine opportunity while I am still at uni. Otherwise later on I may not have the time or funds!

i work as a casual and earn between 200 and 400 bucks a week depending on what time of year it is. i would say about 50 would go to transport and food. the rest i save for gigs, cds and pitching in for things around the house. i spend very very little money on new clothes, or going out to clubs or on my mobile phone or any of that sort of stuff. at the moment im saving up for a car so im not spending as much i would like to on gigs and cds. oh yeah summer school is going to cost me a few thousands bucks too :S

a few pages ago i said i was in law school, 3rd year to be exact and im combining that with a commerce degree majoring in accounting. law is very interesting, accounting not so much.

Wow. This is freakishly similar to me. My money is transport and food too. Although my iphone is costing me a bit, but only $12.50 a week... I am saving for a car too, plus a Fender Telecaster...... that's why I made my list of bands so I am forced to cut back. I just found two tix to lorne Falls Festival this morning, so tempting. 350 each, but I need so save. First big step for me!

Oh and my thesis on Australia's music industry gets handed in on Friday. Just editing it atm, that's why I am online heaps. Microsoft Word, the Internet and meetings with supervisors is how I have spent the last week solid lol. But it has given me lots of time to listen to music!

^^

thats awesome. is there anyway we could have a read of your thesis?

i just calculated my total expenditure on gigs this year. works out to be just below $1100 not including The National which is in 2011. i rarely buy cds for more than $10 so even though i've bought about 70 cds this year it would've cost me far less than all those gigs have.

and bryce im not sure how old you are but im 20 now and i saw coldplay on my 19th bday and that was only my 3rd ever gig. so if you're younger than that dont feel bad or left out or anything.

Yeah, I'm younger than that. I'm just getting ideas so I know how to cope with financial costs and logistics of having an interest in music and attending university. Its still a couple of years off yet though. Its interesting to find out how you guys get along. Alex, how is that EP of yours going? Hoping to get something released this year?

lol if you want to. I'll have to do a report summarising it eventually anyway.

Total expenditure on gigs:

(2010 = $1950)

Total expenditure on 2011-released CDs: (42 x 20 = $840)

It's a disgusting habit.

And yeah Bryce you have so much to look forward to. Uni is prime music-gig-viewing time!

omg so you have the new radiohead and fleet foxes album!!!! wow. i knew u were involved in the industry but i had no idea you had such incredible access :P

Uni you have SO much time. If you work part-time and don't pay for petrol you can fund this stuff easily.

As for the EP, stay posted. My bandmate gets back from the US at the end of the month, and we plan to properly release a single before the end of the year, and before an EP. It'll build some momentum. All the stuff's written, just needs to be recorded properly. The new demos excite us.

I can't wait to finish Uni to get into it!

Wow I totally put 11 didn't I. FAIL

Well I got the new coldplay too. It sucks. Oh and Noel Gallagher's solo album is better than anything Oasis ever did.

Ooh and Jack White's fart as the new White Stripes single made #1 in every country.
