So is anyone going to get tix to bdo? They go on sale this week.

not me. i think i might have a relatively quiet summer this time around.

BDO has sold very very well. GC and Syd sold out already. sydney's 2nd show (i laugh everytime someone acts surprised at that) should sell out too.

2nd melbourne BDO should be announced by the time i go to bed tonight. ms lees and mr west will be very very happy and very very rich.

Good riddance to them. I'm glad I'm not contributing my money to their richness this year

Sad. I was hoping it wouldn't sell out so I could sneak in if the 2nd line up was amazing.

More importantly, let's see how the Laneway Festival line up for 2011 looks this Tuesday morning at 9am when it is released!

According to their twitter:

Looks like we'll be doing the singapore laneway. Psyched. Venue is wild. Hoping to run a comp and get peeps there...

Singapore? Awesome that may entice a few more big acts because they get more coverage - Aus, NZ and now Singapore...

plus:

Wow, some killer suggestions. I want to tell you all but we're embargoed til tuesday. I just showed my best mate and he flipped.

People are picking some hot acts... Pressure is on! Hope my tastes are half as good as everyones. One clue: its got gallons depth

I'm excited.

Oh and Future Music Festival has it's lineup announcement soon.

Big rumours are Chemical Brothers Headlining and Mark Ronson on the bill.

Hmm, Future might be cool but since I'm now going to Good Vibes I probably won't go unless there's someone I really want to see.

As for Laneway, bring on Tuesday! I've pretty much decided to go no matter what the lineup is, haha.

EXACTLY my thinking. I would like to do 2 festivals, since I am ditching BDO.

Great minds think alike, as they say :blank:

Which other festival are you thinking?

Also, saw this the other day:

http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/news/local/25818/Splendour-shows-Woodford-the-money

Splendour In The Grass’ temporary relocation to Woodford in Queensland was heralded by many as a positive move, none more so than by the good people of Woodford themselves.

According to the Caboolture Herald, the local economy was given an $18 million boost thanks to the festival with more than half of the Splendour goers coming from outside of Queensland for the event.

Understandably the local Council is doing everything in its power to negotiate with Splendour organisers for the event to remain at Woodford for a second year, with Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Allan Sutherland telling the paper, “We have already given council approval for the event to be held next year but I’d like to see it continue well beyond that.’’

Sutherland’s enthusiasm for the event is a far cry from that of local council in Byron Bay, where Splendour was held for its first nine years. According to ABC online, an amendment was made to Byron’s Council’s draft events policy yesterday that moved to limit the number of music festivals in the area to two a year. Given that Bluesfest has just been given permission to remain at its Tyagarah site until 2021 this leaves room for just one more major festival.

Splendour organisers are currently calling for submissions of support for their proposal for a permanent sustainable cultural event at a new site at Yelgun in the North Byron Parkland where they had hoped to hold the event this year. The proposal allows for a range of events from small community events to major events including Splendour in the Grass. For more information about the application head to the North Byron parklands website.

I personally don't really care where it's held in the future, Byron and Woodford are actually about the same distance from me.

chem bros were certainties to headline future music when they announced their own tour a couple of months ago. mark ronson said he has booked dates here for march, i would imagine that could entail future music but stranger things have happened.

yeah i cant wait for laneway. i think since they're covering 3 countries they might get a big act. but who could it be? i seriously have no idea.

Laneway and Future (if I can deal with the SHIT crowds)

No Caribou for Laneway.

Twitter: "Rumour strong that caribou and fourtet out this summer. Not laneway sadly. We tried"

More on Laneway:

Twitter: "There are 28 bands announced tomorrow. 20 of them are intls. Makes for our biggest contigent of os acts eva!! Yeah!"

THIS EXCITES ME

Not that I hate Aussie acts, but I can see them All.The.Time.

When do you guys think Arcade Fire will announce their australian tour?

I'm picking a march tour, so may not get announced until november or december if that's the case

venue predictions? im thinking hordern pavillion size, so capacity of over 5000. their new album hasnt quite made the impact many wouldve expected so they wont be making a massive step up from their previous visit in 2008.

Could be Festival Hall here, they held the strokes earlier this year and the Temper Trap homecoming gig. The capacity is 4500.

Hmmm well I'm guessing their show here would have to be at the Tivoli, which is only 1500 capacity. But the next biggest is the Entertainment Centre which holds 13,500 and they wouldn't fill that.

Good, good. March would be perfect. And the smaller the venue, the better.
