ill most probably record it then watch it the next day and fast forward through all the crappy bits.

i really like it how they've nominated a lot of crossover artists. ie artists who initially had success on the alternative scene and have now moved onto more mainstream success. tame impala and cloud control are of course the exceptions to that rule. together they have 8 noms, which will cause 8 collective "huh's" amongst the mainstream viewers through the night.

3 great pieces of news!! new cut copy cover looks awesome, just as good as In Ghost Colours and thats saying something. if the four tet/caribou tix are a decent price i might go check them out but if Doves (who are also at playground weekender) announce a sideshow i will go see them instead. re bluesfest what a line up!! im amazed that with so many festivals all year round each and every one of them in the last few months and in the next year or so have produced great to amazing line ups.

Does any of you guys/girls have Angus and Julia Stones first two EPs and would be able to upload them for me please?

And Have you got you jmag yet deaths_friend? Mine still hasnt come and Im wondering if it is just me or everyone?

Best Dance Release - Yolanda Be Cool (these guys are going to be huge next year)

ARIAs broadcast = fail. our beloved indie artists look so awkward and out of place. our much hated mainstream celebrities look so stupid and....well stupid. the arias have undone all the great work they did with naming such a great list of nominees with presenters and a guest list who have little or nothing to do with australian music.

after an embarassing night last night. my faith in australian music is being revived with tonights Live at the Wireless which is Cloud Control recorded live somewhere.

i am recording but will not upload until the end of november.

Yeah, the ARIAs were disappointing this year as you said after such promising nominations. I'm happy A&JS did well but Powderfinger and Tame Impala were just completely ignored by the looks of things.

it wasnt so much who won and lost. it was the way show was organised and how it panned out. the presenters were just a bunch of D-listers. the hosts were embarassing. the setting was beautiful but chaotic. it completely lacked in class and sophistication.

i love aussie music as much as the next person (this i believe is my 400th post on this thread :D) but i was ashamed last night.

Well I didn't even watch it last night. I was studying for exams. So I'm just going with what I know. I looking forward to the J awards now.

^ haha, awesome (re: 400th post..)

I watched the ARIAs last night and, ugh, the hosts were beyond awful. I felt embarrassed watching them. At least Powderfinger and Temper Trap got recognised. Angus and Julia's acceptance speech was just so cute it almost made up for the rest of the awards, haha :D

All I heard of it was Guy Sebastian singing, during which I changed his words so he called himself a fag and a lover of buttsex.

lol@ emma

im a disappointed that powderfinger didnt do a classic. if this was just another ARIAs for them then i would understand. but this (might be) is their last ARIAs so would it really have hurt if they did On My Mind or My Happiness. i heard that when bernard came on "stage" (was there even a proper stage?) to accept their award he said "so what did we win???" LOL

ch10 got hammered in the ratings. agatha christie on abc had TWICE as many viewers last night. and they were also broadcasting 30mins delayed! drum media were announcing the winners well before it was on tv. i believe this is ch10's last time doing the arias? i bloody well hope so, they disgraced our wonderful music scene last night.

i know im sounding like some old talkback radio host but last night was A JOKE!!

Er wouldn't it be the ARIA people themselves that sort out the TV presentation or is it actually the channel?

So true. I was extremely disappointed. It seriously just looked like all the artists were having an office Christmas party.

And was I only they only one who wanted to throw a remote at Rebel Wilson? :inquisitive:

awesome music at awesome venues :D

Wow. Time for my two cents on the ARIAs. I guess every comment so far is spot on, it was freaking terrible. Probably unprofessional. Giving artists awards in small pockets of the crowd obviously meant that Channel 10 didn't value the awards night that highly. I wonder whether it was anything to do with the number of "Triple J" artists up for nomination rather than the usual "fox fm" shit we have nominated every year. Rebel Wilson isn't a great host, and every time two presenters were talking or announcing nominations they were so AWKWARD and well, spastic. LARA BINGLE I AM LOOKING AT YOU. Seriously - how did she get on this? It's a shame cos Channel 10 did such a great job in 2008.

As for the winners, I guess that's what made me most happy. All deserved - I was shocked when all the public-voted awards were given to deserved artists rather than commercial popsters. Glad to see the temper trap take a couple of awards, and Angus and Julia stone definitely deserved the top 2 awards. Washington gives me the shits. She's boring and ugly. Maybe she just fails so badly in comparison to other top indie females (Emily Haynes and Karen O anyone?) She is doing it herself, kudos to that I guess. Another observation was the Birds of Tokyo juggernaut. My god, these guys are going to be huge. I think if they and the temper trap can keep making decent records they will become the next two rock acts that silverchair and powderfinger were - JET seem like they've had their time.

*Exhales*

I'm really not understanding all of this Birds Of Tokyo hype. maybe I just need to listen to their records more. Im more into the more indie artists like cloud control and tame impala I suppose
