Do you still listen to vinyl?

Featured Replies

Just wondering how many of you still own a record player?

Yes. Just last week I was listening to the Beatles on vinyl, and Peter Paul & Mary..

What have you been spinning off at 45 speed?

Wow, The Beatles on vinyl! (Make sure you vote in the poll!)

Last album I bought on vinyl was VLVODAAHF but I've bought a couple of 12inches since

:stunned:Modern stuff is still offered in vinyl?? VLVODAAHF?! That's a shock to me! Glad you can get it that way, though - it does still offer great high-fidelity, perhaps unequaled to anything digital commonly on the market..

Isn't that funny too - the older vinyl is superior in sound quality (without scratches, of course) to digital recordings. It's noticeable too! Does it have a more higher frequency tone to it (where the mid and upper ranges are louder or more pronounced than the bass)?

I bought VLVODAAHF on vinyl mainly because I thought the cover deserved to be bigger... and the little scratchy noise at the beginning is beautiful (makes me wishe CoL was the first track!)

:laugh3:Yes, for the album art! Makes perfect sense now.

And there is something to that - it's 'real' somehow with those scratches - maybe because there's a background sound to it, and that makes it seem like a 'special event' thing?

But does it have more of a high range sound to it??

hells to the yeah.

Well mostly my dad's classical records, and some of his blues ones too.

Blues on vinyl would be cool.. That's almost as real as it Gets!

The blues just have to be heard on vinyl... the crackles are part of the soundtrack!

i have quite a few vinyl's:

Radiohead:

All Albums

Nude Single

Thom Yorke:

Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses (Single)

All for the Best (Single)

Animal Collective:

Merriweather Post Pavillion

MGMT:

Oracular Spectacular

Coldplay:

Violet Hill/A Spell a Rebel Yell

that's it so far... I hope to collect more. I would play them more often, but I don't have my own turntable, and the one that's in the house is in my livingroom, and my parents are always home so i don't get a chance to listen to music :(

Will definitely look for the MGMT on vinyl... love that album! :D

I so want a turntable. One day when I have money.

We have one anyway on a really old hi-fi, but I'm thinking about get one of those turntables with a usb connection. Would be great to put some of my really old stuff on to my Ipod

Is that something that used to be played on a gramophone?

Busted!:P

i do!:D i have some U2 vinyls (Boy, October, Under A Blood Red Sky, Rattle and Hum, The Joshua Tree and Desire single)

and last Christmas i asked my parents as present a record player:smug:

I listen to a lot of vinyl. I own relatively loads of records (including a few soundtracks!), and give each fair due on my turntable. I wouldn't let them gather dust of my own accord, but my current setup is FUBAR at the moment. :(

I think you can pick them up fairly cheaply
