The difference being that both Boyzone and Westlife are crappy boybands and Beyonce seems to get more and more "manufactured" by the year. Case in point: that awful "put a ring on it" song.:dozey:

Well the point is that shows like X Factor are the perfect vehicle for "manufactured" bands like that, which isn't the case for the likes of Coldplay, who are in a whole different league.;)

well, true that Boyzone & Westlife are manufactured bands, but even then the whole recruitment process for them weren't made into public entertainment like the whole X-Factor & American Idol thing.

I agree. The image doesn't really matter. It's about the music really, isn't it? Coldplay will probably be mocked by all major music magazines and critics, but that's their decision. I'm sure Coldplay are well aware of that.
