We should donate our Christmas presents!

Featured Replies

My sister had a great idea. We are going to take all the money our family is going to spend for each other on Christmas and donate it to a good charity.

I don't celebrate Christmas.

wow <3

Sadly, the thing I'm getting for Christmas is something that I have to use for school...

I'd love to though

sounds good, but I don't think people would do it here :(. Instead some people here go to the post office and pick a card directed to Santa, written by a kid who is in need. I volunteered for the post office once (reading and organizing cards) and sometimes all they wanted was a christmas dinner or a job for their parents.

I know, it was very sad :( luckily lots of people go to get cards.

That's actually a great idea.

Kwanzaa?

Nope. My dad is a Jehovah's Witness...

we don't celebrate anything except weddings and Easter :nice:

it sucks... I'm not officially in that religion but I've been raised in it so I've never really had a Christmas, ya know?

Being a mexican I thought you'd be catholic..

Well that's the religion my mom was raised on and so was my dad... but my dad never really bought into it...

My mom, technically, I think she's still got her Catholic beliefs.

I myself, I don't know what I am. I believe in God. I believe in a heaven and a hell. I just don't know exactly which people I want to tell me stories... Cuz that's what the bible is... it's a book of stories...and in like 90% of the religions its the same damn thing... they just change the words around a little and slap a pretty name religious group name on it...

Our school donated 35 food hampers to a charity for christmas comprised of food items kids and teachers brought in.

that's a really good idea, so sad that many people are selfish

not to say that i'm a saint.

also i'd be nice to buy extra things for people that are in need if you have that kind of money.

Like yourself I believe in God, but my own vision of God. I don't necessarily believe in heaven or hell - I believe that's probably just the Bible glorifying the effects of our actions whether they're good or bad and using heaven and hell as a representative of bad and good consequences. Very similar to karma in a way.

Nice thought from your sister :D

Hey Nick! Didnt know you still come on here. Werd.

But Im with Fitz. But its different that Im older now so if I want something I save up to get it, Christmas presents are sort of like a silly joke with a personal touch rather then something I need, but when I was a kid wanting games and CDs, this idea would suck.

And if my family asked me what I planned to have bought them to donate to charity, I would've just said I was going to make paper mache presents at a total price of £0.23.

It's a lovely and very good idea...;)

Every single day we should donate what we can... :( not only money, but also furniture, clothes, food and all the things we don't need because they are superfluous.

Me and my family care about animals, so our everyday charity (considering our economic possibilities) is giving food to stray dogs and cats of the neighborhood

:nice:

A group of my friends and i gave about €100 to a food hamper appeal last year.

No much, but it's something.

oh lore that is so sad, i am thanking God for every single thing i have and promise never to complain again! We "adopted "a family and are giving presents to them all through our church.

since I've been naughty this year and won't receive any presents, I'd like to donate the lot!
