oh shit, this whole time I thought we were talking about one of the biathlon or cross country racers that ended up on the wrong side of a barrier going into the straightaway. I just skimmed over the posts and assumed that's what was being talked about....okay, well, switching subjects... it wasn't Kramer's fault, his coach clearly told him to switch lanes because he thought Sven had been in the wrong lane to begin with.

:edit: this is what I was thinking of

Yeah definitely the coaches fault. I didn't see any of that coaching stuff until today.

I didn't get home in time to see the first two periods but the 3rd is all I really needed to see. Go USA!

Even though I believe we had somewhere around 44 shots on goal and only two goals to show for it? Not looking so hot :\ but a win is a win.

I have a serious problem with the scheduler guy though :veryangry2:! Why would you make the Gold Medal Game Sunday at 3:15pm EST? In Vancouver that's noon..You just wake up and then three hours later have to play a huge hockey game? Why not make it somewhere around the time of 7:30pm EST? So people in say Russia can at least get up in time to see it....

Because somebody has to miss out, better it be them commies than us.

Lol Russia is not a Communist country and they could defiantly be playing for gold come Sunday.

Well the closing ceremonies are that day.....so you can't really have a game going on while the closing ceremonies are taking place.

This.

Ahhhh, I feel so bad for Sven. That just flat out sucks like hell. Especially since it was his coach who told him to do that.

Saw the very end of it, and he had just finished and looked happy, and then the coach came over and Sven started to get sooo mad. I was thinking what the hell just happened, and then they said what he had done. It just seems like such a weird mistake to happen at the Olympics. :wtf:

Guess I'm just a biased hockey fan :P

Although he pushed a volunteer afterwards which is kind of idiotic so i don't feel as bad.

Didn't see that. That was dumb of him, but I still feel bad for him.

7-3 after two periods. Didn't see this happening.

Commentators were doing my head in.

Mentioning Ovechkin every 10 seconds and how he's underperformed in this game, the team didn't play well and if the team doesn't then a single player can't.

Yeah everybody loves to talk about Ovechkin.

Neither Crosby or Ovechkin really stole the show tonight.

I like our chances though, that was a pretty dominating performance.

Oh how I miss a serious television Olympics winter games broadcast here in New Zealand! :D

I watch it sometimes on PRIME TV and Sky Sports NZ, but they regularly only show some parts of the winter games in the evenings presented by a fat guy, who often mades fun of the sport in general or of some of the athlete's names! :laugh3:

Germany's the best nation so far!

...I wonder what the Russian headlines are saying now?

Oh man, I watched some of the US Switzerland game on NBC and couldn't believe the announcer they had- it was like he knew almost nothing about hockey and kept coming up with the most insane comments about what was happening. They even had one of the commentators from the Canadian sports channels working with him and the guy kept having to correct him but he just kept ignoring it. When the Canadian guy had anything intelligent and interesting to say the other guy would act like he hadn't said anything and would even interrupt him. Best comment: And he [the goalie] barely avoids making a snow angel. :wtf:

Canada wins gold in Women's Hockey :smug:

I actually went to school with one of the players in that team and she scored the two goals of the game :wacky:

That's great, although everyone's saying that apart from Canada and the U.S.A in women's hockey, no team has even the remotest hope of winning gold, as the standard of other countries' play is so poor in comparison.

Therefore maybe it would be better just to have an automatic play-off for the gold medal to save time (and embarrassment).:P

Anyone watch women's figure skating? Kim Yu-Na's performance was amazing! No surprise it broke the record and won her the gold.
