Lost: Season 6 (The Finale) [OFFICIAL THREAD]

What an interesting episode. :shocked3: Is it weird that I'm starting to like the smoke monster? He brings a whole new side to the show.

And now Sayiid's the one who creeps me out. :uhoh::P

I can't believe there are only 10 episodes left!

gah! I hate that Sayid is now "evil"... if that's what he really is. I'm with fietssleutel... I don't know who or what to believe!

and so creepy Keamy was still involved in the parallel timeline :veryangry2: I guess Jin was there to deal with some kind of debt his father-in-law owed to Keamy?

Is it weird that I'm starting to like the smoke monster?

and

"Evil" Sayid was awesome.

they both rock

That's sort of the point though. I bet they draw out the Smokey/Jacob thing till the end. That bothers me as it's the last season and all. :dozey: Still, this episode was pretty cool, but I need to re-watch it. I discovered halfway through that Flight of the Conchords are touring and that was er.. kind of distracting.

By the way, I thought it was kind of funny parallel Sayid had this whole other accent, which is much more like Naveen Andrews' accent.

He added: "When was the last time you saw a network drama episode where none of the series regulars were in the episode? That's how kooky it is!"
Ooh, that sounds really exciting/weird/interesting, but it's gonna be a hit or miss.

I like bad ass Sayid. :wacky:

Most fans are gunna hate it I think, but I'm excited because one of my favourite shows ever did something like that, just a completely radical and unheard of idea, most fans hated it but I loved it. So I look forward to a load of Lost fans getting pissed off at it.

I didn't like when the temple people just started following Locke for no real reason, It made it look a bit obvious that he just needs a 'team'. Also, I'm got a bit confused when Dogen said that Jacob promised that he would get his son back just like Locke made an empty promise to Sayid. Was he trying to say that Jacob is evil too?

And last...

Why isn't Richard with Sun, Ben and the peeps?

They were following Locke because he said if they didn't go with him, he would kill them.

How does that make Jacob evil? Maybe his son did come back, we don't know that yet..

To me it looked like it

The temple people just looked so determined and Kate being the only one looking a bit frightened.

Well he said "But I could never see my boy again". And he said it a way that made it sound like they both got the same offer so Sayid could sympathize with him. Maybe it's just me interpretating it wrong...

^My understanding was that his son would be brought back to life, but that he (Dogen) would have to be on the island, unable to see his son.

and Richard ran off when he was with Locke, didn't he? Last we saw him, he was in the jungle warning Sawyer (Sawyer or Jack?) to get away from Locke.

Yeah that's exactly what happened, Jacob made a deal with him. Jacob's no saint, he manipulate people's lives to get them to come to the island, the AR is what happens without Jacob influencing their lives, they are all pretty happy. But he's different to Smokey.

also Michael Emerson was hot when he was younger:

^That video is hilarious!

I heard an interesting theory today... bear with me, because 1- it's not MY theory and 2- I'm not sure I'll be able to explain it correctly... here goes:

The alternate reality/flash sideways thingies are not a parallel timeline, but rather, the future- we're being shown what will happen after the characters make a deal with Smokey. They all have essentially what they want, but not quite- the best example of this is Sayid... he wants Nadia back alive. In the alternate reality (supposedly after he's made his deal with Smokey) Nadia is alive, but he can't be with her.

There are lots of holes I can see in this- Jack's dad is dead at the alternate timeline... how does that work if it's really the future? Also, where do Kate, Claire and everyone else fit in? who knows, but I thought the theory was an interesting thought.

^yeah, that's what I'm thinking too, Christina. There might be something parts of it, though.

also, don't know how many of you already know about this, but there are awesome Lost discussions that go on on the Forum on the USA Today Pop Candy blog. You can find them here:

it's also a pretty good pop culture blog in general! :nice:

That theory is wrong, why would all the people on Team Jacob be there then? And Desmond etc? Why would they not remember the island? Why would it hint that they were "supposed" to be there? Jack's appendix scar etc.

It's simply what would have happened had Jacob not influenced their lives and forced them to make choices they wouldn't have made otherwise.

I second this. I was kind of wondering after the Kate and Jack episodes whether things that happened on the island were inevitable (such as Claire naming her baby Aaron and Jack having appendicitis) and just happened in a different way in the parallel story. But I guess it's just a random selection or something. And if it isn't, it doesn't make any sense at all.

I really, really hate that they started this angle of the story so late because I feel that it's kind of a last minute solution (I sincerely hope it isn't though) and they could (should) have started it earlier. But at this point in the series, it's hard to say I guess. To be honest, after watching S5 I expected S6 to be about the "war" between Ben and Widmore and I really liked that story. I'm kind of bummed that it's (apparently) been axed, but the last thing this season needs is another storyline. It would have been interesting though.

HorrificAttack, which series did an unconventional crazy thing like Lost is planning to do? I'm intrigued. I bet episode 15 is gonna be one of those that everybody hates after it has aired, but will learn to love in time. :P I'm really looking forward to it.

I wrote this theory here before. At first I liked it, but now I really doubt that.

I miss Richard. Im really looking forward to Richard centric episode. But i dont think that we will get one soon.

And I still can get used to see Ben in his new *loser* role :inquisitive:

Thanks for the info! :D! Can't wait for the episode tonight!!

Happy Lost day! Finally caught up after the Olympics. (Yay for sharing tvs with people who never leave )

Flash sideways: I'm begging to wonder if the choices they make on the island are affecting the outcomes their characters experience off the island somehow.

The last supper promos: look at where people are sitting- the ones who accidentally or on purpose followed Locke in the last episode are sitting on his right side, while the ones who are tentatively following Jacob are on his left. In the second picture, Claire switches sides.

The island's personality: Did you ever notice how often people referred to the island's personality in the first seasons? That the island willed this or that and then they wondered why it did bad things to them when they followed its supposed orders? It all had a very pantheistic tone to it. Now that we know it was Jacob and Smokey working against each other everything is taking on a very dualistic tone, much in the same order the philosophical shift happened in history.

Haven't made up my mind about Jacob yet. The symbolism is sure hard to miss. Did you notice the whole Gethsemane moment when Hurley didn't recognize Jacob and asked him where the food was? Except Jacob isn't alive again...yet. His followers actions sure aren't what I'd associate with a Jesus figure, though.

Jacob and Locke may be setting themselves up as opposites, but they sure are both obsessed with controlling people, aren't they?

Happy Lost Day to you! Looking forward to tonight's ep. you made a lot of interesting observations, but I particularly liked ^that^ one. I hadn't even thought to look back at the promo photos.

what a great episode! one of, if not the best (then again i might have a slight bias towards ben since he's been my fav. character since season 2/3 :P)

still it was great to see how different he is becoming or is in the alternate reality. I loved how he tried to blackmail the principle... was a classic ben move. it was good to see how ben was on good terms w/ his father and showed that they cared for each other (rather than his dad being abusive). also I liked how alex made an appearance in the show and ben ultimately made the right decision to help her.

I liked seeing Jack is taking a more leading role, and slowly becoming more aware of having something to do (though we don't know what it is exactly yet). seemed reminicent of season 1

Also i found it kinda weird how widmore made an appearance at the end. it's good to see that he's back in the picture (at first i thought they might have cut him out of the show). We know that he wants to get back to the island, but I wonder why exactly?

also right at the end he was told that there were people on the island, and he seemed as though he didn't care. could it be that he might attack the island somehow? just a thought.

of course we don't know how this will all pan out w/ the rest. clearly things are being built up to a team jack vs. team locke/smokey/mib so it will be interesting to see what part widmore will play in this. part of me thinks that widmore will go on jack's side simply because if there is to be a conflict with locke's current amount of people he has they seem greatly unmatched.

...then again what do i know.... it's all spectulation.

either way great episode! next week can't be here soon enough! :P

^I agree, it was really excellent. Michael Emerson was awesome the entire episode, but the scene with Ilana was incredible.

and I agree with what you said about Widmore... it did seem as though maybe there would be an attack of some kind.

the scene with Richard and Jack was also fantastic... seems to me that Jack has had some sort of revelation (he's at least admitting to himself that his presence on the island is important) and now he seems to be morphing into a man of faith, rather than science, as he was before.

and finally... I was just skimming thru the episode discussion on that blog I mentioned before and someone had this to say:

Possible LOST loose end tied? Rousseau's name appeared crossed out on the big wheel this season (and I believe, but am not sure, also on the cave wall). It wasn't Island Rousseau-- Alex is the now deceased candidate.

After a devastated Ben watched Keamy blow her away in New Otherton, he says "He changed the rules."

One of the rules seems to be the candidates cannot kill themselves. We've heard a lot of talk of who can kill who this year or who has to follow orders from who.

Ben thought Whidmore was playing by the rules, that he couldn't order Keamy to kill a candidate. Those were the rules that changed. Alex was a candidate. Cool.

I thought that was really interesting idea.

oh, and so I guess Richard arrived on the island on the Black Rock, many, many, many years ago? The Black Rock was the ship Jacob and MIB were watching approach the island at the beginning of the season, right?
