I am serious, there are some really talented kids on YouTube with nothing better to do with their vast amounts of talent than cover Coldplay songs and make them actually good.

Yes this is frustrating. Coldplay may appear to be as popular as ever among everyone on this forum, but in reality, I never have to suffer hearing them on the radio or a friend mentioning their new horrible song with indescribably horrible lyrics, I just dont know who to insult anymore.

Completely false and ignorant. Yes, I'm sure a million people can sing/play any professional band's songs better (with the exceptions of world-class musicians in bands), but those people could not have possible written the songs they are covering. It's not about luck entirely, you have to be able to write something that that many people will want to cover.

Of course luck is important, if an awesome band doesn't get the chance to meet the right people or being at the right place in the right time, they'll play in small pubs forever

I was kinda wondering the same thing. I'm not that much of a Coldplay fan anymore, but it's annoying when everyone starts bashing them to look cool.
