That was a misinterpretation: Chris Martin has stated that they'd put out a record with some leftovers from the Viva sessions, and all the "news" websites and so on claimed a new album. This was Prospekt's March EP. That's my conclusion anyway.

Chris did say in an interview that the new album would be more acoustic. He also said that they wanted to try out some new songs in the Latin America Tour. And the Latin America Tour is only from February 26 to March 11. I am hoping for a Summer release this year, but It is probably going to be next year. And I dont think they are going to do another HUGE World Tour for a couple years. They toured for almost a year and a half.

Chris has said it would be great if the band could release albums every 2-1/2 years. One can assume the next album is going to released in a shorter time than it took for VLV since they have been working on the new album since April-May of 2009. Remember the 20/20 interview??

It will deffinatly be out sooner than the gap between X&Y and Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends. Unless something tragic happens, like Guy becomes a republican or something.

I think given the fact that Chris said he's been writing throughout the tour and mentions of working in the studio have been made that we can see an album coming out in about a year. Why rush perfection though?

Another problem in this discussion is whether to trust Chris or not :P

^I think that may be the main problem here. Whenever Guy, Will or Jonny have an interview without Chris and they are asked about something he has said about a release they're always like did he really say that or I don't know whats going on. Chris is a little exaggerator.

 

And really with the Beehive being built, they're probably going to want to wait until thats ready to really start putting down tracks and then they need several months to master and mix.

 

I'd say with their past history not to expect anything until summer 2011.

I'm hoping for the end of 2010, but most likely summer of 2011. They seem like they have been very busy between and during the tours, but for all we know Chris might decide everything they've done is terrible, throw out all the songs, and start completely over :\

It's hard to say. It could easily go either way. But the fact that Chris wanted to record a new album while on tour gives me hope for a faster release
