Mark will you read my post?

Half of the reasons I made this thread have been completely ignored, I'm going to not include any bitter jokes or anything so everyone can understand what I was/am saying. I suppose it's partially my own fault though, I've tried to be reasonable in the past and it hasn't worked so shock tactics are the best to get the message across after that.

I don't actually think Mark is a paedophile, that was never really an issue, it's just easier to give it a name so people understand the issue at hand. Mark isn't trying to rape these girls, obviously. The main problem I have with it should be pretty clear, but in case any of you aren't really clear about it I'll break down some of the problems I have with Mark talking to 14 year old girls.

I apologise for generalising, I know there are exceptions, but still for the most part what I say is true.

1. Mark is a 45(?) year old man. He has absolutely nothing in common with a 14 year old girl. There are generations of difference between the 2 of them. This is already starting to ask questions, why would he start following a 14 year old girl around replying to her posts? I know the answer to that but I'll mention it further in a later point.

2. 14 year old girls are shockingly easily influenced. I'm sure you can't deny that Mark is clearly not a well rounded individual, him having any influence on a person's life is to me an incredibly scary thought. I know in the past I've spoken to young girls on msn or something and I realised that even unintentionally I was beginning to influence the way they acted. It scared me and I started to distance myself from talking to them at length because I realised it's just not right to have that much influence on a person's life without actually having anything to do with them. Whether it is intentional or not (and I suspect is is partially intentional) Mark would be influencing these girls in a very scary way.

3. 14 year old girls are naive and trusting. Mark takes advantage of this to the most, it's almost like he uses them for his own gain. All he wants is for someone to agree blindly with everything he says, what better market for this than young girls who don't know a lying and manipulating person when they see one. The fact that he doesn't really get on with many people who are anywhere close to his age proves that he needs people he can control to a certain extent, if someone disagrees with him they are all of a sudden a "troll" Crests worked up the courage to finally tell Mark that he bothers her, I know how hard that was for her, it took a lot of guts and she should be proud of herself for saying what she believed. This was instantly shot down by Mark though, him claiming she didn't actually write it and that I was somehow making Crests hate him, fuck you Mark, that girl deserves credit for standing up to you, not being called a "troll".

4. Can you honestly tell me that if any 14 year old girl showed their mother a picture Mark sent them of himself and said "this man is talking to me on the internet, he insists we talk in private messages" the mother would just go "that sounds like a nice and healthy relationship, you have fun now". Of course they wouldn't and this point alone should stand up enough to prove that it's just not right that he is doing it.

That was the reason I have anything against Mark at the moment. My dislike of him in other aspects is pretty well documented, but I'm trying to be as reasonable as I can here so I hope it's not going to be written off as me trying to "one-up" Mark, that really bothered me when coelsige claimed that's what I was doing, what on earth would I gain out of one-upping Mark? Absolutely nothing, do you think I'd go through all this shit just so I could have some "bragging rights" over Mark? Don't be stupid, I genuinely don't care what Mark thinks about me. I got speaking to Crests about her attitudes etc and it became painfully clear why she found it so hard to stand up to Mark and to voice her own opinion and it's why it's such an achievement that she managed to do that, by talking to her I helped her get her voice I didn't brainwash her to fight my battles, why would I do that?

This wasn't even the reason I made the thread in the first place. The reason I was annoyed at the Admin is because of the way this whole situation was dealt with. Reilly and several others have backed me up in that I just stopped caring about attacking Mark, like I've said earlier in this post, what's the point? The only thing I'd been campaigning about was all of the issues above and maybe asking him reasonable questions about his news threads being a waste of time (in which he actually admitted to posting them purely to wind me up). So then all of a sudden my forum starts crashing, wont load pages very well and it has pages of blank posts, threads aren't appearing, it's really an enjoyable experience. It was obvious that they had made Mark's posts invisible to me, I asked why this was done and I wasn't given a proper answer.

I had to investigate about it until I eventually found out that the reason this happened, without warning or consulting any of the mods etc, was because Mark requested it as he didn't want to see my responses to his posts. Mark being in the past an avid fan of the Ignore List claiming that if you don't want to see someone's posts you should put them on your ignore list. So I really don't understand why he made this request in the first place if there wasn't some kind of malicious intent behind it. The fact that the request was just approved speaks volumes to be honest, what on earth is going on there? A man the forum has had to temporarily ban on several occasions, has had countless complaints about etc suddenly has a say in what happens on the forum?

It's painfully obvious that Ian should have just told him to add me to the ignore list, or if Mark struggled with that, made my posts invisible to him, not the other way round, as I assume he is still able to see mine, which defeats the point massively doesn't it? But no Ian doesn't like me (to be honest I can understand why) and therefore he just approves it without thinking about it, Mark may love this little bit of bias, but in the past he's complained SO many times about Mods having an opinion on anything at all, but when Ian has an opinion that backs him up (which it always does) then that is fine.

It was an incredibly stupid thing to do and I was forced into making this thread to try and get my point across as it was clear you didn't give a shit about logic or reason from my talking to Lore about it. All you were saying was "if Mark agrees" why does he have any say in it at all? You're running the forum aren't you? Why does Mark have to agree to something that doesn't even affect him? You've handled this incredibly badly just like you have in the past.

It's not even about Me vs Mark.

*ignoring Mark*

Has Ian contacted anyone? I PM'ed him, but he didn't respond.

Yup. The one that was banned.:smug:

Me too!

First time I've read Nathan's post. It's fucking brilliant. :uhoh:

Really? I could've sworn I just saw him somewhere around here :shifty:

Sure is.

Yeah it rather is ;)

And so the BS continues. People still have nothing better to do with their time.

All the same, sign me up. I'll come back for a while if it means keeping the board going. All my respect and thanks to you, Ian. :)

And you wonder why Ian's threatening to close down the board? The disrespect is even continuing now.:dozey:

Nah, I think Ian's being a bit childish, but it isn't like I'm going around calling him a c[unt or anything, he's letting me keep this account so I'm pretty grateful for that as reregistering would be a pain.

And so the BS continues. People still have nothing better to do with their time.

Yes, you can see it's still continuing even now. With idiots like that around, there's no hope whatsoever.:(

Has anyone gotten hold of Ian? I PM'ed him but he didn't answer. :bigcry:

I'm confused as anything. And panicking, because the very thought of my online home shutting down is terrifying to me. So I'll stay out of it all until I calm down, and I'll just say this in case nothing is here when I come back:

I still think this is the most wonderful board on the internet with some of the most wonderful people I have ever had the honour of knowing. There is a great many of you that I love dearly (although I may never have spoken to you directly as often as I probably should have) and you have change my life and my view of the world over the last few years more than you could possibly realize. I hope we can all stay in touch whatever happens, but I'm bad at staying in touch with people. That's why I use a forum.

I've done the albums of the year for 3 years now. I was really looking forward to the 2010 edition. I can't do it without the people here and without this board. We still haven't heard what happened on the albums of the decade poll, and there are more than 50 contributers who deserve to find out what happened there.

To lose all of this would be to cut the ties that bind a community. There's a beautiful piece of artwork sitting in my room because of this community. (Thanks Aniskywalker) There's a live album I'd lost hope of owning. There's a hundred CD's I might not have gotten into without the people here. When there's an earthquake, my first thought has often been who do I know on the board that was there? Are they OK? This community has been my window to the world.

Ian's put so much into this for so long. I'm grateful, dude. My life would be so different if it wasn't for you. If this place disappears tomorrow, I'll be devastated and confused and hurt, but still grateful. If this panic is all a load of hooey, I think all of this needs to be said because it doesn't get said enough. THANK-YOU!

And you wonder why Ian's threatening to close down the board? The disrespect is even continuing now.:dozey:

i still don't understand that if you had a problem with someone else in the board, why didn't you just ignore/block the person?

if it was me for this forum, or facebook, or whatever other site... if i had a problem w/ someone else i'd just ignore/block them... why would I want to have to deal with confrontation?

whatever... i mean what's done is done... i just find it ridiculous how if you had simply blocked/ignored people on this forum that things wouldn't have spun out of control and be as crazy as they are now.

edit: i'm not picking sides... I talk to neither you nor nathan on a normal basis and have no grudge against anyone... just wanted to put that out there

It's no wonder at all. I'm amazed he put up with it this long. I still can't believe some people have dedicated a year and more of their lives to spamming/trolling a fecking forum. It's sad, pathetic and these folk really need to get laid...as soon as they have the surgery to get what they're compensating for lengthened. ;p

That'll be my last negative comment on the matter, but it bears being said again just how sad a life you have to have to waste it like that.

Yup. The one that was banned.:smug:

No, no, no...you seem to have not picked up on the fact that I was referring to you, so i'll clear it up now and say, I was referring to you. Have you got that? Understand?

But, i'm so very sure that you're basking in the fact that a section of the people who rightly question you, have been banned or disabled from their accounts. I'm sure you're loving the attention you're getting from all the fuss that's been created over you. However, maybe as a result of all this madness, the shut-down of the site would vindicate those who have been cast out, because it will mean you're unable to exist in this space at least, and surely, that's something positive to take from something so fundamentally pessimistic.

I couldn't agree more.;)

The hate mob will never stop until they have destroyed the board completely.

Mark you just asked people to come in and post, it's hilarious.
