On saturday (in NZ time anyway) it's Record Store Day! Yaaay!

Haha, it's a pretty cool day. Most record stores will be having sales, instore performances and heaps of other stuff.

All you have to do, is go to your local record store and buy stuff!

I dunno, just go! it'll be fun!

I wish we had cool stuff like that

I know there are some stores in Australia participating in Record Store Day. :)

are there no independent record stores in your town?

There are only 2 here, but those 2 are really cool and they're on the same street so I'll just be switching between them all day :D

Slash from guns n roses is doing an instore at amoeba in Los angleles and jonsi from sigur ros is at the amoeba records in Berkeley. Artists need to support indie record stores. You show me someone who consistently shops at an indie record store and I will show you someone who has good taste in music.

To be honest, I love my iTunes and mp3 collection, but it's not the same as having the physical item. I think we will have a lot less iconic record covers and music related art work in the future because no one ever has the item in hand (it's always just stored on a player).

The store in my city is also participating!

I agree. I feel a lot more satisfied and happy with an actual album or vinyl record in my hands, versus an mp3 file. And of course, the sound is better!

That's a good point about the album artwork.

We don't really have record stores.

Merle's Record Rack closed years ago. I mean, there's Cutler's, but that's all the way in the city and it's way overpriced anyway.

You have to go to Best Buy now for music, or online.

I love instore performances. I've been to a few really great ones.

This being the best ^^

Record stores are amazing. I seem to spend a lot of my weekends in town going to them, and whenever I'm in a new city I'll have a look for some

Vinyl with an mp3 download link :heart

Fair play.

I hate like Viva la Vida with the slide out discs, they always get so scratched.

The best is like Teh Cost or Strict Joy...not only great soft casing with a click-in disc spot but also beautiful artwork and booklets and stuff...just so pretty the cases..such class

I like the slide out ones!

Strict Joy was quite good, but I still think there should be no plastic in CD packaging, it ruins it for me.

Sorry hippie boy. Didn't know we killed that many dolphins to make a fucking perfect piece of art like strict joy case. the cost one is better..it's so pretty, there's all these lights

my viva kept getting scratched to save your planet :mean:

Vinyl with an mp3 download link :heart

Ah, that's a bonus. I like the person/people who came up with that.

I don't have The Cost on cd. I downloaded it on iTunes because I got so sick of not finding it here. What do you mean by the lights?

Well it's like the stric joy. with 3 fold out flaps kinda. anyway the background is all green plant wall and stuff and there's a gorgeous picture of the band and all these shiny lights behind them. it's so magnificent.

even the front and back are so pretty
