Bloc Party singer Kele Okereke started a solo project under his own name since Bloc Party are taking a break (boo :dozey:). Début "The Boxer" will be out on June 21st and the first single was released today. FYI: it's not very Bloc Party-ish.

I think I liked it better when he was with Bloc Party. This stuff is too rave for my tastes.

I haven't liked Bloc Party since Silent Alarm, but this is still outright terrible. I read that it was difficult for Kele to put down the guitar, and now I can see why.

I really liked silent alarm and a few tracks off A weekend in the city.

After that they just got worse and worse in my opinion.

This solo record is even worse.

I really like this song! :D I was really dissapointed by some recent Bloc Party stuff, but I like this!

I really liked Bloc Party's later stuff and I love this. So sue me.

What's wrong with Bloc Party's later stuff? "Zephyrus" is awesome.

Ugg, not that exciting. He's playing at Osheaga this summer. I think I know when I'll be buying merch.

so have bloc party officially split up now Kele said "here's a song by a band I used to be in?"

They are on hiatus, so probably in a couple years down the line they will get back together for LP4.

 

I think I'm right in thinking that the Halloween show at the end of their october tour was their last live show together as a group

I think the "plan" was to reunite in a year or something, but nothing concrete as far as I know. Kele has been awfully vague about this in recent interviews. :sad:

I was going to see him live next weekend, but he cancelled a bunch of dates.

I loved Tenderoni and the new single but I'm not sure about the rest of the album yet, maybe it's a grower :shrug:
