June 13, 201016 yr It is a little amusing to see all this warm nostalgia for X&Y after five years, given how it received a fair amount of backlash upon release. I suppose VLV's more experimental turns has a hand in it, but even though X&Y won't go down as a classic, I think it will be looked upon quite fondly when all is said and done in the Coldplay world.
June 13, 201016 yr I was always a bit baffled by the amount of backlash X&Y got. I've always liked it, I'm not saying it's my favourite Coldplay album but I love it all the same!
June 13, 201016 yr *sigh* how time flies. I remember getting X&Y more than any other Coldplay album since I was home on break from Uni for the Summer. I had pre-ordered it in Hawaii, and got it posted to the UK. I don't think I'll ever forgot the lazy Summer days reading while listening to it!! The Summer weather was fantastic that year. It really was! I was in Oxford when it came out and it was ridiculously warm. :wacky:
June 14, 201016 yr It took some time for me to really warm up to X&Y, and now, though it's still not my favorite, there are many things I love about it. Plus, that was the first tour I saw them on, so it's got special meaning to me for that reason. :)
June 14, 201016 yr I can't believe it was 5 years ago since I discovered Coldplay. Speed of Sound will always have a special place in my heart
June 15, 201016 yr Author I can't believe it was 5 years ago since I discovered Coldplay. Speed of Sound will always have a special place in my heart   That's what I feel too!
June 15, 201016 yr Today it's exactly 5 years since my parents took me to my very first Coldplay show, which made me fall in love with them straight away! Can't believe it's been 5 years already. Look forward to another 5 years.
June 15, 201016 yr Since it's over 5 years since X&Y, means it's 2 years after VLV as well... Basically means I'm a fan of Coldplay for just over 2 years now...
June 15, 201016 yr ^The song, yes, The album? Not so much. There are few decent songs in there.. Well, I just hate them all, except CSC. Reign of love is lovely actually. I don't like Cemeteries of London, but I'm not sure why... same with Lost. Yes is disgusting, 42 is annoying and the lyrics are terrible and I absolutely hate Lovers In Japan's damn piano. Viva is well.. BAD, and I still dunno why the hell they put that nasty riff in Violet Hill. Strawberry swing is cheesy. Life in technicolor shows Coldplay failing at making an instrumental and I hate the oh oh oh at the end. I'm more of a pre-Viva fan. I don't like Parachutes though. *sigh* Just LP2 and LP3.
June 15, 201016 yr In today's "Dan's" on VH1, Denmark it was celebrated that it is 5 years since X&Y was released. Speed of Sound was played, and the programme was shown again later in the evening.
June 15, 201016 yr X&Y :heart: Still my favorite of their albums. It's the one that made them one of my favorite bands back in 2006, although I had Parachutes before that which made me a fan in the first place. X&Y era, definitely my favorite. :wacky: I'm still waiting for a dvd! :bigcry: *goes to hunt for an x&y video tour hd* Ohhhh my life would be almost complete.

Alexa, I agree that СSС is the best one on Viva, so.. In today's "Dan's" on VH1, Denmark it was celebrated that it is 5 years since X&Y was released. June 16, 201016 yr I remember when it came out. I had to be like..... 10? xD I remember I wanted it so bad but my dad was all 'spend your money on clothes or something. You don't need any CDs, that's why the radio was invented.' and I said 'THE RADIO CAN GO SUCK A JUICEBOX FILLED WITH A TASTE OF THEIR OWN STINKING MUSIC JUICE!!!' >:| I'm glad I'm one of the luck ones who grew up with Coldplay..... :awesome: I've been a fan since I was like 5 or 6 when my uncle played Parachutes in the car. :pleased: 10 years already.... :stunned:
