uhh this 'my chemical romance' band is my definition of overrated. from all the hype i had heard about them i thought they were going to blow my mind -- so far from what they did do which is bore me to death.

every rapper or r&b artist in the whole wide world is seriously overrated

I think people are getting mixed up by 'over-rated' means, they aren't over-rated just because you don't like them.

I think current U2 stuff is overrated. I think it just gets hyped up and praised b/c they're U2 and they have had a long career. But I agree with whoever said that their stuff wasn't mindblowing. They're music now is just alright.

are you kidding, U2 have a larger repetoire of famous songs than many 20 year plus artists. Unlike artists such as Springsteen, who can be nailed down to having merely 1 or 2 songs that define them, U2 have numerous classics from various eras.

 

Also, as TLC says, U2 live are an experience apart from any other, their studio stuff simply does not do justice to the transformation many of their more 'ordinary' tunes undergo when moved into the scene of a tour.

 

I would say the most over-rated bands, including ones that I like, are those that spring up from year-to-year and are hailed as 'the next Big Thing', bands such as the Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Keane and Razorlight. Their catalogue has no depth as does, say, a Zeppelin or Dire Straits, yet people still hail them as the biggest thing in music. Are we really that shallow?

They don't have enough great songs to show for being around 20 years? U've just proven u don't have a clue as to what ur talking about. And as far as their new material......their latelst album has already sold 8 million units world wide and the concerts have sold out in a matter of minutes. If that's over-rated....I'll take that any day.

Ok....I apologize fer fuming above. Sometimes I'm such a girl! haha But really....u should try to see them in concert this year. U would have a much better appreciation fer 'em. If ur close to Philly this May...u should come and party with us all. It'll be a blast! **hiccup** :P

lol we all have different opinions, i don't mind them, i don't dislike them at all, i just think they're overrated. :)

at least by the general public (in the states) radiohead, the white stripes and modest mouse are far from being overrated. by some critics maybe (well not radiohead but the other two possibly). muse isnt really even known in the states so they cant be overrated here. float on (modest mouse) is the only thing by them i'd call over-rated (more like over-played)

..The Hives (although, the hives singer was really entertaining at V2003)...

 

Yeah definitely, would never get any album by them but they were good live.

 

RADIOHEAD ARE NO WAY OVERRATED.

 

The White Stripes are overrated, as are Oasis.

 

But i would have thrown Elbow, Radiohead, and Blur in there too!
